These are steel possibly stainless aviation rivets. These blind rivets have 1/8" diameter shafts, 1/4" mushroom head, and a 1/4" shaft. They are perfect and very easy to work with. If you want to keep a round profile, take a large punch and a rotary burr and put a hemispherical divot into the head of the punch.

You used to be able to find these for a nickle each at any old hardware store with the loose fasteners. In the last couple of years, they have disappeared and you pretty much have to buy a few thousand at a time if you can find them.

I like the look of the flat topped dome.
