gunfun 3,931 Posted December 4, 2012 Report If he is awaiting Jesus, why would he be all superstitious about mayan prophesies. (That the mayans didn't actually make.) 1 Quote Link to comment
slippingaway 89 Posted December 4, 2012 Report Yeah, the appt. was just for a laugh at work. I'm not all that superstitious. I don't think it's the end of the world. What I do hope is that they paradigm is shifting and that our concept of time will be changing (possibly due to something excerpting extra gravity on our solar system). What I am worried about is all the crazy nuts that might escalate things. When that happens, I'll be ready to stop the looting. Quote Link to comment
pjj342 632 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Being that the milky way is 100,000 light years across and we are about 2/3 out from the center, there will be no gravity exerted on the solar system what so ever. If there was a large enough body near us to exert gravity, we would see it, and it would be big. Quote Link to comment
slippingaway 89 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Boomstick, how do you account for planetary wobble? Something has to be exerting force on us, to what we perceive as South. I don't know if Galactic center, an unlit brown dwarf, or some other high-density low surface-area force would explain it. If we are due for anything crazy to happen on 12.21.2012, my money is on people going crazy. All I know, is that time and gravity are linked. I don't look at what the Mayans were calling for as the end of time, but perhaps our understanding of time is about to be radically altered... Who knows? Certainly not I. Quote Link to comment
