Small-caliber bullets at all firing ranges in terms of the runway in the gelatin and PPOs in the soap were significantly superior to the 7.62mm bullet.

In experiments with gunshot wounds to the extremities found that Russian and American small-caliber bullet caused compared with 7.62-mm bullets more severe damage to the skin and soft tissues. Inlets on the skin with small-caliber bullet wounds in size generally smaller or the same size as the bullet, outlets were mostly extensive, rough oval or polygonal shapes with discontinuities at the edges. With injuries as small-caliber and 7.62-mm bullets were observed closely enough to gravity comminuted fractures of long bones of extremities with extensive bone defect during PC and multiple fractures. Gunshot fractures inflicted by small-caliber bullets were complicated, usually fragmentation bullets.

Picture of fragmentation 5.56 mm bullets cartridges Ml 93 and M855 on radiographs is damaged limb bones was quite typical and being available in the fracture of particles fragmented bullet (Fig. 4). The average frequency of fragmentation 5.56mm M193 bullet cartridges with injuries of the upper and lower limbs for all the range of fire of 57%, and the M855 rounds - 42%.

Fragmentation of 5.45 mm bullets observed predominantly in wounds of the lower extremities with fractures of long bones. In this case, the fracture was detected on X-ray or a bullet with a crumpled front section (on the firing ranges of more than 300 m), or fragments of its shell, of which determined, in most cases, the triangular shadow separated nose bullets (Fig. 5). The average frequency of fragmentation 5.45mm bullets cartridge 7N6 extremities with injuries was 18%, and with wounds 7.62mm bullet cartridges arr. 1943 - 10%.

Features fragmentation 5.56 mm and 5.45 mm small-caliber bullets, identified on radiographs, give reason to use them as specific features allowing to differentiate these bullet shells at the Trial medical examination of bullet wounds.
