My Medicine Stick

Lots of Americans like Lever Actions. I wasn't one till I played Fallout New Vegas. After that I decided that I liked them, especially a big bore lever rifle. Then I found out something, one of my favorite Presidents liked (He liked it a lot actually.) his lever action rifle chambered for the same cartridge that I like in a lever action, .45-70 Government. As the opportunity presented it's self, I grabbed it, paperwork, money and it was mine. smile.png

So, Here it is, my Medicine Stick. For whatever angry beast that needs it's ills cured. lol

Rossi Rio Grande

Lever Action

.45-70 Government

Brass Bead on the front sight, big loop lever, blued steel, round profile barrel, full length magazine tube, weaver rail from factory (Removed in picture, not my thing.), rubber buttpad.

6 in the tube, 1 in the chamber.

I have the M92, .44 special + magnum. I like it! Did the "tune up" kit from Stevesgunz, and while it was apart, polished the flat surfaces with a honing stone. I also put a leather wrap on the lever, and got the rail and added a red-dot sight, because my eyesight doesn't appreciate buckhorn irons any more.

So long as you keep shooting it Ronin, all that matters. :)

My friend wants a Henry .44 magnum lever.

This is my first Lever Cap. Almost can't wait to squeeze off a few rounds.

Dad2142, I can't see your post for some reason.

Mine is a nice shooter with the Spl's, but kicks pretty good with the Mag's!

I'll have to look in to hog-hunting. Never tried it, but I know we have feral hogs in some parts of SE OH. I need more practice, and a bigger freezer first! :)

Surprisingly, mine doesn't like the .44 Mag. LeverEvolution rounds. Less reliable feeding, and not quite as accurate as SWC's. You'd think being designed for lever guns, they should be nearly flawless...

I have only shot hornady leverevolution 45-70 govt 325gr Ftx but have 405 grain lead flat point for tomorrow not looking forward to the shoulder whooping, but well worth the fun

If you can load a Hornady round into a pre-shot casing you should be able to use it to find the issue you're having with that bullet failing to feed. Just go slow mo and use a flash light if you need to.

The rounds I shot were Winchester semi-jacketed hps. The kind that look sort-of like a jsp but with the hollow point. Worked great. 300 some odd grain round. It hit what it aimed at.

RONIN38,

YOU HAVE A PIC OF HOW YOU HAVE THAT RED DOT MOUNTED ON YOUR M-92?

I HAVE THE .454 VERSION, AND MY EYES DON'T DO IRONS ANYMORE.

STEVE SLICKED-UP MINE TOO; ALSO PUT ON A LIMBSAVER TO REPLACE THE ROCK-HARD STOCK PAD.

LOADING THE BARNES 225 GR. XPB OVER 30.0 GR'S OF H110.

FIGURE IT'S COOKIN' OUTA THAT 20" BBL. AT ABOUT 2200FPS.

INSTANT DEATH ON A 240LB. PIG. IT JUST WENT STIFF AND FELL OVER; DIDN'T FLIP-FLOP-TWITCH-JERK OR SQUEAL, JUST DRT!

Oh yeah this baby kicks alright.  If we hadn't braced her, a friend of mine would've been on her ass for sure.  I will say that the rubber butt pad is generous and makes the rifle very enjoyable.
