  1. What's the story on this, has anyone bothered to do one up right with some epoxy and a full length magazine spring? I just happen to have 100 of the aluminum G3 mags at my disposal and before I shell out $175ea for 25rd Galil mags I'd be willing to try this little setup.
  2. Has anyone bought oneof these yet?It looks great. Too bad he hasn't developed for Saiga 12 shotgun
  3. No,it would be like having an AR15 preban threaded upper sitting beside a post-ban lower with no post-ban upper to go with that lower. CONSPIRACY
  4. Saiga magazine is deep enough for 3in magnum shells and USAS mag is not as and only for 2 3/4in shells. Not easily compatible witrh a Saiga magazine to graft the two together. USAS-12 magazines require a longer front tang to catch in a Saiga magazine well from what I have seen.
  5. a USAS 12 drum has been used to make a drum for Saiga 12 but it requires the manufacture of a feed tower(from a 5 rd mag),dummy rounds linked as a follower and a shell guide to make a track for the rounds to come out of the drum and into the feed tower. Then once you have done all of this you can't shoot the thing too rapidly because it pushes the round to slowly for the Saiga's action. Not to mention the fact that a USAS 12 drum costs from $500-$750 USD to start with.
  6. Siag 12 8rd magazines cost $45ea from Kalashnikov USA but must be purchased with a verifiable police letterhead. They will call to verify the authenticuty of the request so be sure your chief or assistant chief knows you are ordering them. Oklahoma CLEET will not certify the shotgun for LE use in Oklahoma even though it is vastly superior to any other LE shotgun ever made for use by Mil/LE
  7. 8rd Saiga mags are not illegal nor have they ever been illegal in the USA. Possession of the magazines in conjunction with a Saiga Shotgun however can be misconstrued as conspiracy to assemble a prohibited assualt weapon. You can buy and import brand new USAS 12 magazines without any questions asked and they are for a weapon that has been classified as a destructive device. That is where we find the rub. The importers are afraid of having their popular shotgun classified as a destructive device and therefore take it upon themselves to limit the sale of the 8rd magazines to LE o
  8. I just took a closer look at the shotun provision of the ban and it doesn't say anything about possesion or manufacture of hicap shotgun magazines. Basically if I am reading it right anyone can have an 8,10,20rd shotgun magazine made whenever as long as they don't have it in conjunction with an automatic, detachable mag shotgun that fits it!! I wonder who is going to store everyone's Saiga12 8rd mags for them?
  9. I need a couple of those. Do you have a PayPal account? Thanks
  10. The Saiga follower is just a bent piece of thick sheetmetal and the springs are too weak. The saiga operates more quickly and positively than the USAS-12 does.I don't think the USAS magazine can push shells fast enough to be picked up by the bolt and feed reliably. You could try filling the bottom of the magazine with a wooden block and see if the added spring tension will push the rounds reliably that will tell the tale. One question though, since you have to cut out so much of the front of the magazine what do you do about the sides of the metal follower being exposed and hanging up on th
  11. I gave up on full-time Law Enforcement a few years ago and now only volunteer occasionaly during holidays and whenever there is an overload(tornadoes, floods, football games). Commision Card:The police identification card issued in almost every state that has a minimum set of standards for employment as a peace officer. This is usually issued after you have completed the state academy and been through an extensive background check. General Equipment Letterhead:The letter officers are given when they go to work for a police department that authorizes the officer to purchase uniforms,ma
  12. The best bullpup trigger linkage I have seen is on the Sako/Valmet bullpups it is very robust, positive and smooth compared to the KVAR kit and the Chinese bullpups I have played with.

    pistol grips

I like the Ace Galil style grip for all of my AK variants.I also like the Galil selector and I am in the process of modifying all of my AK's to use the Galil selector switch so the cutout on the left side is useful.
  14. instructions for filing the magazine for best fit came with 1st generation Saiga shotguns. It needs to be very, very gradually filed an fit.Try to force the magazine and see where it leaves marks.if it is on a plastic section use one of your wifes large emery boards to fit it. for $19.95ea you are getting a deal, the police supply here charge $45ea for the big mags and you have to show a specific letterhead for that item to buy them.LE pistol magazines can be purchased on your general equipment letterhead that you get when you get your commision card but not the Saiga mags:(

    Barrels

The barrel that is in the Saiga12 is possibly the strongest shotgun barrel aver made.It is roto-hammer forged over a mandrel of high grade ordnance steel and is tapered in thickness from the chamber in such a way as to reduce stress enough for it to handle 250% more pressure than an American style shotgun barrel. In fact it's very difficult to buy a rifled barrel weapon in russia so many Russian gun owners buy Saiga 410s and load them up to 458 Winchester pressures using special heavy brass cases. I would just find a gunsmith that would counterhone that tough chrome lined barrel and
  16. The USAS-12 demands perfect form to function reliably. If you don't give it an adequate backstop(your shoulder) to recoil against it will malfunction.I don't have any trouble because I's a pretty solid fellow but there were several former military guys of the 165-185lb variety who had to pay carefull attention to their stance and physical rigidity or it became an instant Jam-O-Matic.Also there are quite a few standard 12ga loads that are actually a hair too long that won't function in the weapon at all. This weapon can be devastatingly effective if you are willing to train for it and have t
  17. It seems to me that a pump/auto would allow the use of "Less-Lethal" ammunition and help the Saiga to gain wider acceptance among Police Departments.I would also like to see a pump only version with an incomplete gas system for the Kalifornia users.
  18. I have a Kobra on my favorite Saiga-12 right now but I have a segment of picatinny rail that I am having machined to fit the contour of the gas tube.Once it is finished I will be mounting a PK/01 on an ARMS throw lever on the gas tube.
  19. I don't think the Saiga mag needs to be changed at all.If you use the bolt hold open and have a firm grip on the magazine upon insertion it seems almost like straight insertion to me.
