  1. I wanted to provide an update. I did receive the shotgun a couple of weeks ago. Many of you saw the pictures that Craig posted. Overall I'm pleased with it. The finish came out really nice. Though, there was a small nick on the rail, but I was able to cover it up with a black marker. It has the exact 'gloss' that I was wanting. The craftsmanship is great. All of the correct parts this time... I've not been able to shoot it yet, though. I had a long discussion with Esteban about the Ultimak rail (see my earlier concerns). He simply said he'd do whatever I wanted to make me ha
  2. It's all I can do to simply bite my lip! Ha - Yeah, that's a tough call. Maybe Vegas can set odds on the # of weeks
  3. Hi, Not since early last week. I settled on a '5 rail' modification to help offset the extended fore grip. I saw some pictures of this '5 rail' system Esteban did a few years ago and it looked good. It looks like a little one inch rail that bolts to the barrel in front of the gas tube. Well, it looked better than leaving the Ultimak rail sticking out there an inch or two. From the sound of things it was going to be a big deal to get that Ultimak rail flush with the end of the gas tube. Though, they told me that they'd do whatever I wanted. But I was reading between the lines and it s
  4. Yes, I asked him if the conversion was legal (barrel length, # of parts, etc...). I believe if you have a short barrel you must get a special permit. I think that's a normal question to ask a gunsmith who's converting a gun in a major way. Especially when they're 3,800 miles away and you can't "drop-in" to discuss these things. So he was answering my question in that email (from 25 months ago). Anyhow, the point now is regarding the finished product and the Ultimak rail in the pictures. Is it common to leave the rail in the original length it comes from the manufacturer? Most, if not
  5. Is it just me - or does that Ultimak rail look lonely and lost? Looks like it's sticking out an inch or two beyond the gas tube. Here's a picture Esteban sent me in June 2008 prior to my order. This conversion was either shortened, or it was ordered in a shorter version. Anyone with Ultimak experience please chime in - or chime in with your opinions. Thanks Basscat Original correspondence dated June 3, 2008: Did you want the Ultimak rail HG like this? If so I will adjust your quote. At this point I quoted you the Galil hand guard like the picture from the link you ema
  6. Technically nothing has changed. Jokingly during one of the last conversations with Kelly I bet him $100 that Esteban hadn't touched my gun yet despite his purpose (Kelly) of the phone call was to confirm with me all of the changes and ensure the corrections had been made and that the gun would be shipped out the next day (approx 14 days ago). Well he called me back 30 minutes later admitting that he lost the bet. It was then that I learned of the supposed disruption in the building process caused by this thread. I was asked to delete this thread because it was causing a lot of backend pro
  7. It's been about 10 days since I last spoke with Kelly (new telephone contact for E-Tac GoGun). Apparently the Rabid Robert comments on this thread really shook things around. Apparently for about 10 minutes my gun was going to be returned as-is if I wasn't able to delete this thread. But Esteban called me and straightened everything out (explained Rabid Robert's position). Yeah, we're pushing 1 month behind the promised schedule (surprise). Several weeks ago I asked members for a little feedback regarding my color selection, but I guess with all of the hoopla it went unnoticed. I deci
  8. I would suggest everyone ignore this Rabid Robert guy. He's a moron - everyone reading this already knows that. He doesn't work for the company. Why on earth is he even involved in this conversation? He doesn't have a clue. Yeah, there's a lot of problems with UPS. They need to start using sledge hammers to knock on doors I guess. Three times they visited the shop with "Business Closed" as the response. I seriously doubt UPS stands to gain much by carrying around merchandise in their truck for multiple days trying to deliver to a business that is repeatedly closed during normal busi
  9. Gary is correct. Esteban has been in possession of the gun since June 1st after 3 failed attempts to deliver via UPS (guess 4th time was the charm). I did receive a phone call from Kelly (described in Gary's thread), E-TAC employee, about 10 days ago and he said it would be ready in 2 weeks (this week?). Has anyone here ever tried to type while intoxicated? You know, forced to close one eye so it reads correctly? That's the way I felt while reading Rabid Robert's responses. Talk about being uninformed. Wow! Maybe he needs to close one eye too so that he can see that paint job a l
  10. Unfortunately I don't have good news to report. I shipped via UPS 2nd Day Air on Tuesday, May 25th. It's gonna be hard to meet a deadline when your store isn't open. 11. I would like to thank everyone for their input. Especially I'd like to say thanks to TROMIX and Selph Arms for your offers (both offered complementary work to help me out of this rough situation). Needless to say, but in this day and age you just don't see that kind of generosity anymore. Here's a bit of history. Back in March of 2008 I joined this forum after finding it linked from another forum (precious metals). After doing my own DD, I decided on a custom conversion from TROMIX. But at the time Tony was swamped with work and he was issuing ticket numbers on the forum regarding
  12. I appreciate all of the feedback. I've sent a couple of detailed responses via PM to the builder (he doesn't return phone calls or emails, but surprisingly he's excellent via PMs). His responses are 'one-liners'. "Send it back, I will fix it -- here is my UPS number". That's it! No apologies. No explanations. Well,,, the first response was 3 lines -- Basically that he didn't want to hold onto my gun any longer and thought I would enjoy it for now and would send the other parts when they come in and I'd be able to keep the current parts for my trouble. No explanation of
  13. I guess pictures are sometimes as good, if not better, than words alone. The picture(s) I keep referencing that "sold me" on the quality of craftsmanship are visible at My Ideal Conversion These attached thumbnails (click for a larger image) were taken today to illustrate this topic.
  14. yeah the $2000 price tag with a tapco rail I didn't order a tapco rail. Supposedly it's a temporary rail until he sends me the painted OD green Ultimak. What odds do you place on that? I mean why send the gun after already waiting 23 months? What difference would another month make? I wouldn't be thankful to receive something I didn't pay for. In other words, regardless if the SOCOM stock might fail with higher calibers, it's what I ordered and paid for. I clearly received a lower priced alternative. No, your average person cannot do the kind of work I sought. This wasn't
