Yep stated above, they came in with company called Kalashnikov USA which I presume just never got established well enough and then seemed to dissappear. The slings show up very infrequently on the gun websites and indeed there was an offering on Ebay or gunbroker or somewhere where I bought a small number of them quite a few years ago. G.Suarez put a lower Ultimak tri-rail on a 308 Saiga a few years back. As I recall, they just used longer screws to mount it. Soon thereafter he dropped his experimenting with the "Saiganov" for some other platform and I believe he listed the Saiga for sale on his website. This shortens the sight radius and will cause a decrease in accuracy. That hasnt seemed to diminish the popularity and use of the AK100 series weapons ...and of course the krinks. Magpul generally puts out high quality products and often at a premium price point. This product is seemingly aimed more at the price conscious customer and looks a bit like a change in market strategy. If these are 13.95 retail, then the metal versions are likely to be around $20.
