  1. Hey, I just received a couple of your Vepr 308 20 rounders for my Vepr Super 308. As expected, the mags look and feel great! I've only tried one so far and unfortunately, it doesn't quite lock into place, by just a hair. I thought that I would post this here, instead of contacting you directly, in case that someone else runs into this problem and has the same question. Any way, I assume that I have to file or sand either the front or the rear catch on the mag? What do you suggest? Thanks a lot.
  2. Yeah. It's just a bad, cheesy movie and I loved American made action movies while growing up in the USSR: The Terminator, Aliens, Total Recall, Rambo: First Blood, Star Wars, Conan the Barbarian, Predator, Running Man, RoboCop, Commando... were all the shit! I watched all of that stuff many times over in 1 ruble "video salony". I remember people were laughing when we we watching Red Dawn. Even the whole idea of our rotting, dying, incompetent empire invading main-land US just seemed so ridiculous! We could just barely supply and maintain ~100,000 troops across the border in Afghanistan!
  3. I don't know any Soviet-born guy who doesn't think that this movie is retarded. It's like a masturbatory fantasy of some teenager who actually REALLY wanted to play hero during a real Soviet Invasion... like those guys preparing (and actually hoping) for the "Zombie Apocalypse" now. Of course, the way that the Soviets were portrayed... the props, the uniforms, the behavior - all ridiculous, which is typical Hollywood.
  4. I e-mailed them. Will let you know, By the way, the TWS never bothered to reply to my e-mail, but considering how different the rear sight block and sight are on the Vepr Supers, I REALLY doubt that they standard AK dogleg rail would work.
  5. It's not a bad option. However, after I adjusted mine for correct length, when I try to use is for support while aiming, the metal buckle really bites into my neck. In a hasty sling? A variation of thereof. I put the tension on my arm and neck.

  7. Unfortunately, I've never tapped or re-tapped anything in my life (well, I have tapped some... you know what ). I've used self-tapping screws on plastic stocks though. So, would I need to precisely measure a swivel lug of my choice, then drill a hole like one size smaller and then use the right size "tap"? What are all the measurements that I would need? I wanted a high powered zoom scope, with an illuminated PSO style reticle. Kalinka does sell a ring mounted scope like this, but it has a huge 52 mm objective, which would only clear the rear sight base if I used some high, "see-t
  8. After having owned a Vepr Super for two weeks, I think that it is a great weapon, but just like everything else in life, it is not perfect and I have ran into some problems and issues with it. I was even able to come up with an "ingenious", easy DIY solution to a major problem. I wanted to create this thread, for us Super owners to discuss some of these issues and possible solutions. I have already solved one major issue, but have questions when it comes to some relatively minor ones. Please, post your own issues and concerns. ISSUE #1 (SLINGING IT): When I was picking this weapon
  9. Arsenal top mount model with a POSP Zoom 4-10x42 weaver scope. EDIT: One more, with all the mags now.
  10. Some pictures I took tonight, while and after scoping the rifle, which turned out to be more problematic than I had hoped for. Yes, that's a big, ugly scratch on the side of my brand new, expensive POSP zoom scope and yes, I had to "modify" (straighten out via pounding with a mallet) the mount locking lever, so that it fits around the scope's objective. I'll talk about that in more detail later. The scope also sits kind of high. I have ordered an adjustable Black Hawk cheek pad/riser. The pics are kind of meh. The lighting was bad. Here's a video too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YZ
  11. You're welcome. That Super 308 of mine continues to impress the heck out of everybody that I show it to. The review is going to be continued, but I don't expect a lot of negatives to pop up. I suspect that it will shoot just as good as it looks and feels... I mean, accuracy-wise (I already know that it shoots smooth and with very little recoil).
  12. WIll do. It's a ridged spring button. You pull back on it with your finger and the tube comes out. Very nice! No more tools or cutting your fingers.
  13. Now that we ebtablished that it's legal... Alina from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk shooting my Sig 2020 40 S&W: Katya from Moscow shooting my restored S308: Katya dumping a drum (Amazing girl! So tiny, but loves big guns and can handle them! She loved my .44 mag!): Both girls were international students here.
  14. Heh. I've taken several Russian nationals, including some fine ladies, shooting at the Deer Creek Range with me on different occasions. Never even thought that it might be an issue... By the way, aren't shooting ranges in Hawaii and Las Vegas extremely popular with the Japanese and (now) Chinese tourists?
  15. AKM? Aren't those milled? I can imagine how nice it must be. EDIT: When I said "Aren't those milled?", I meant the Arsenal SAM-7s. I know that AKMs are stamped.
  16. So, I back-ordered one of these from K-Var about three months ago, when they had them for $900. Finally came to my favorite FFL dealer yesterday and got to put two mags through it (very brief and hectic after-work range trip, focused on selling a friend's S12 to a guy who came shooting with us). Inspected the weapon over at the FFL dealer's: All that stuff they say about beautiful wood, impeccable fit and finish, solid feel, smooth action, etc - ALL TRUE. Right away, I fell in love with this weapon and was happy that I ordered it. It is stamped Arsenal Inc and warrantied for a year. Came i
  17. I have a Super on the way and would love for someone to make some plastic furniture, which I can put on and take the gun hunting in the mountains, without tarnishing that nice walnut stock. ATI, are you listening? there is a big demand for dragunov style stocks for these, although more so for the standard vepr's. beyond that I think super owners will have to go with a custom furniture maker, or roll their own if they have any skills. Depending on whether they take off, we can start seeing after-market stocks and other parts. So far, it seems like there has been a lot of interest. Eve
  18. By the way, what do you guys do as far as slings on these? Do AK or SKS slings work? Thanks.

  21. TSA? Details, please. Googling "tsa rail" is not very useful. Ha ha, I'm on meds, had my apendix taken out. TWS is who makes the rail. I don't think I can post the link but you'll find it easily that way. Funny. I had some surgery and was on the "happy pills" for a while recently as well. I know how you feel. You sure that it works on a Super? I am supposed to get a top rail model Super (without the top rail) from K-Var pretty soon here. Frigging Kalinka wants like $170 for the Molot top rail and K-Var hasn't posted their prices yet. The TWS Dogleg Rail might be a good

  23. found some what of an answer to this question on another board. the russians just didnt like the top mount: http://www.ar15.com/...page=2#i1159964 On the other hand, the side rail on these sits very, very high and I have read that it is not very security attached to the receiver. By the way, before, when you were talking about buying it from Molot directly, you meant Molot-USA, right? I just found out that they existed. I don't believe that they are any more connected to Yasnye Polyany than WPA or K-Var are... probably just paid a little more to be able to use the Molot brand in the
