  1. Are these the ones we want or are these for the AK's? I thought (with my admittedly limited knowledge) that we need mags made specifically for the Saiga if we don't have a bullett guide. Just trying to clarify, as I'm also needing to order some mags for my new Saiga. I saw these same mags listed at CDNNsports.com for $12.99, so I need to know if these will work for the Saiga without a BG. Thanks, theDuke.
  2. Thanks for the clarification, took it apart yesterday to clean it but it was very clean to start with. I also cleaned all my other weapons as well. I can't wait to get started on converting it. I need to order the parts and some ammo then the fun begins.
  3. Maybe the black beauty struck him just right and he's out shooting it..... Funny you should say that. About 5:30 I got a call from my buddy saying my Saiga had arrived. When I went to pay him and fill out all the paper work, he said "that's a nice looking rifle let me know how it shoots". He has always been an AR guy, has had several of them from different manufacturers. I told him I'll let you shoot it and you can see for yourself he said sounds good. louielouie thanks for the heads up. So are you saying the measurements are wrong or just not to blow it up and use the template ? I don't
  4. Awesome blueprints, thanks for sharing this info, I know it will come in handy when the time comes to convert mine. By the way where in the hell is mine ? I was hoping I would get a call today from my buddy saying it had arrived and to come over and get it , but no such luck.
  5. Thanks guys for all the replies. You guys and this site rock, lots of info and everyone so far has been quick to answer my questions, and is being patient with me and my lack of knowledge of these awesome weapons. When I was in the Army I worked in the weapons supply warehouse for a while. I handed out the weapons for new recruit training(range rifles) and took them back in at night when they were done and had to disassemble, clean, and the reassemble them so I did know my way around the M-16's fairly well but that has been over 26 years ago. I have not touched a rifle since then except for my
  6. As you may have read my previous post about ordering my Saiga, I am planning on converting it. Does the dimpled receiver have the trigger hole in the forward posistion or will I have to cut that also when I do the PG conversion? If so I'm not sure I'm up for that and go for one of the conversions that uses the PG and collapsible stock from tapco that leaves the trigger guard in the stock location.
  7. Looks good, nicely done. Hope you enjoy it.
  8. If you can get one there. When we called they said they weren't sure if they had any left and said they would check and call us back 3 days later and still no call. But I just got a dimpled one ordered from DD's Ranch for $309.00. They also said they only had a couple left yesterday. They said the smooth receivers they thought they were out of. I can not understand how any of these places can not know if they have them or not. My thinking is they are putting them up for auction to bring a higher price and then if they don't sell are then selling to callers. Classic Arms was also out of stock.
  9. Looks real nice. I just got mine ordered so the conversion games should begin soon for me. theDuke
  10. I didn't buy a dimpled receiver to just have a dimpled one, I was trying to find the cheapest price I could get but every one said they were sold out and were not sure when they would be getting more. When crunchy53 told me he had gotten one from DD's Ranch I called them even though their website showed they were out of stock. They told me they had a couple of the dimpled ones left and I said I'll take it. I tried quite a few places and some were $350.00 or higher for the smooth receiver and at that price didn't come with a mag. I don't know enough to say one way or the other which is better,
  11. I'm not sure but my take on it, is that the Saiga is becoming more popular and the demand is higher so the price will go up and shortages will occur at least for a while. I tried Classic they had them priced at $249.00 but not sure when the next shipment would be in. I really didn't want to spend $309.00 but figured if I didn't get one now I might have to pay more in the future. I will have to decide what route I'm going to take with the conversion, I personally think the trigger forward looks better but I don't want to screw up my new toy either. theDuke.
  12. Well I called them and he said he might have some left but he wouldn't know until after Thursday. I'm thinking those are probably on auction and he's waiting to see if they sell. I asked if they had any of the dimpled receivers and he said yes but just a few so I said I'll take one. I immediately called my buddy and had him call and order it for me. They said it would be shipped out today......YAHOOOOoooooooo . We still got no answer from Arms of America. So thanks everyone for the links you all posted, looks as though I'm joing the Saiga family. theDuke
  13. I am trying desperately to get a Saiga, but after reading some of the post about being able to bump fire and essentially having 3 round burst that way. My question is will it also do it if the trigger guard is left in the stock posistion as compared to moving it with a conversion? I want to convert but I'm not sure I will be moving the trigger forward. Does moving the trigger forward make any functionality difference or is it just personal preference? If you guys read my other post about ordering my Saige you know the problem I'm having getting one in the first place. DD's website shows they h
  14. crunchy53 if you don't mind me asking what did you pay for it from DD's? My buddy called Arms of America yesterday and they guys there said he would have to check to see if they had any left and would call back. He never did call back, so my buddy is going to call again today. My buddy is also going to charge me only $10.00 for the transfer. I did check Gunbroker.com and found a couple of them on there but they were quite abit more than the $10-$15 dollar difference RangerDavid said. I am not going to bid on any. I also called Classic yesterday and the lady first said they had them in stock an
  15. Thanks louielouie, I was going to call Classic myself tomorrow but I will also have my buddy give Arms of America a call. For just a $40.00 difference I can handle that. theDuke.
  16. Thanks guys, but I guess that I posted prematurely. I was having a friend of mine who has a FFL order it up for me, well he called me today and said that Classic Arms is already out of stock again . they told him 2 weeks before another shipment comes in, well maybe the S-12's will be available then also. So I will have to wait for the next shipment as from what i have seen they are about $100.00 bucks cheaper than everybody else for the x39. This sucks I feel like Christmas just got cancelled .
  17. After my intial post of "Newb with a question" {Saiga or Lancaster?} I have finally decided to get the Saiga, so let the conversion games begin. I was going to settle for a S410 also but decided to wait on the shotgun to see if the S12 becomes available again in my price range. If not then I'll order up a S410. I have read quite a bit on converting and the 922r laws, but I'm sure I'm going to need some info, so be patient with me. Thanks guys for helping me with the questions I have already asked, theDuke. I'm giddier than a bus full of mentally challenged kids going to Disney world.

    .410 ammo ?

Thanks guys, I eventually plan on reloading anyway, but haven't done any reloading for probably over 20 years, when i used to shoot my .357 Colt Trooper Mark III quite frequently. I want to reload for the 7.62x39 I want to buy also. I personally haven't done alot of shooting since shortly after I got out of the Army back in 1982. I plan on getting back into shooting, so it would only make sense to do my own reloading.

    .410 ammo ?

I really wanted to get a S-12 but with the current lack of supply and the ensuing rise in the cost I can not afford to get my 7.62x39 and a S-12. So I am thinking of getting the S.-410 instead, and was wondering where can I get the .410 ammo cheap? Any suggestions? Thank, theDuke.
  20. Where the hell do you live ???????? I want those prices. I live in Southwest Michigan, and my local store has Remington .223 for $6.99 a box and the 7.62x39 is $13.99 a box. I know I can get it off the internet cheaper(x39) if I buy quantities of it, but if I get it from the local store the .223 is half the cost. Maybe Remington is not a good choice for these weapons, I'm a newb with questions. Thanks, theDuke.
  21. Thanks guys, I think you have talked me into the Saiga. I just need to decide which caliber x39 or .223. I can get .223 ammo here for half the cost of x39, but i would like to eventually load my own. Considering this aspect what would be the smarter way to go. I also want a S-12 so when I order it will be for both. What I am looking for in the rifle is some target shooting and plinking with my son and would like to get into the combat shooting. So based on this criteria which one would be the better caliber? Thanks again for the responses.
  22. I am wondering if it would be more cost effective to just buy a lancaster tatcical or buy a 7.62x39 Saiga and convert it ? I can get the lancaster for $669.00 , how much would I be spending on a Saiga with all the mods to make it identical to the lancaster ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
