  2. Shooting illustrated sept 2017 issue with the shockwave on the cover, page 57 says:

Also of note is that the shockwaves legal definition, and subsequently its legal status, would definitely change is the end user altered the gun by adding a buttock or making other modifications. Mossberg warns its customers of this in a letter included with each gun. In short, don’t mess with the damn thing

I was wondering the same thing.. I was pretty sure that was not legal to mod like that..

are you 100% sure that it is in fact illegal?

  3. Barrel would need to come out and then thread between centers. It can be done, just not done cheap. It would probably be a lot of fun to shoot though.

I was afraid that was the case..

i thnk it gonna be loud suppressed, i sending mine off to "east tx hunter" from barfcom in may, now, since its blowback, may not be that bad...

i like your resurfaced grip, thought about cutting lightening" slots like saigas or veprs in it?

i dont know why they havent takne off like  i would have expected... you getting your moneys worht here, while i lvoe cz, the skorp just shouldnt be as expensive as it is.

heres some pics of mine mocked up form akfiles, and some other guys build with amd 65 handguard looks neat

it would look great with a suppressor.. thanks for your comment about the resurface.. I actually really like the handguard because it makes use of all the wasted space right in front of the magwell.. it gives a nice big grip area for a small gun.. I just could not stand those fins.. I thought they were kind of ugly for some reason..

I looked into an evo.. but I like that the PAK takes my Glock mags.. and this thing runs and runs with no issues yet..

  4. don't really get on the forum much anymore.. well any forum for that matter.. work is just nuts.. but just wanted to stop by and share my new pistol.. I had originally planned to get a stamp but I am not sure I even need it now.. might just leave it be.. I saw a lot of hate for this gun.. LOL but it actually shoots really well.. and has so far been reliable..

  5. I removed some ridges in some polymer furniture for a gun..

the removal of the ridges went great.. very happen with the outcome..

with that said it is now dull gray instead of black... before I hit it with rattle can.. does anyone know if there is a way to restore the stock color.. not looking for a pristine factory condition.. just close enough that it is passable.. if not I will just paint it.. no real issue..

  6. How do you like the Key-Mod setup? I haven't used it yet, but it looks good.  032.gif

similar setup on all my ARs.. so it is very natural to me.. I like M lok and Keymod because you get a really low profile hand guard.. and can attach the one or two things you need without the added bulk of a full rail system..

  7. Is it true that the puck is a 922 compliance countable part?

if so what puck is available that is closest to factory spec and proven most reliable.. I ONLY need it for 922 compliance as I might switch to a Russian handguard

    thanks

  8. I somehow knew your post would be that you got your gun back, but I don't have the words.

That is messed up. What a shame to see someone slide like that.

yup it sucks.. people make shitty choices.. and sometimes others suffer..

lesson learned.. trust your paranoid instincts..

and forget about converting the S12 for a magwell.. I am thinking some original Russian mags to celebrate the return...

  9. Well good news.. I don't have the gun in hand yet.. but it was recovered, and shipped up to the police in PA.. I am going to pick it up Sunday.

As far as I know it is untouched and in the same condition as when I sent it..

I do not know the complete details, but I will tell you what I know..

I sent the gun to Jack Travers to have a magazine well installed..
At some point he pawned the gun
Some time after that he ended up having "medical issues" and is now so bad off he is not in a position to be prosecuted
Some time after that the sheriffs department in his area was able to recover the gun and shipped it to a PD in PA for return

There are tons of other sketchy details.. but they are for the most part hearsay, and I am not interested in relaying things I can not confirm.. I am only putting his name out there so that IF he recovers.. people know what I just went through..

several months of waiting.. a bunch of wasted money.. only to basically have it stolen..

There were a lot of locals that I reached out to that helped me a ton.. along with the sheriffs department.. I met a lot of good people.. that helped fix a real bad situation..

I am very appreciative to have my gun back to me..

  10. I kinda think we all know who you're talking about, eh?  Best of Luck getting that gun back, it's a nice one!

Some definitely know.. and thats fine.. people can know or assume.. I am just doing my best to steer clear of getting into the whole "me VS the shop" kind of thing... my post is not so much about how lame I view the actions of this individual... I want to just keep the focus on the fact that the gun has essentially been stolen from me.. and the more people that have it on their radar.. the better chance that someone may stumble across it at some point..

  11. Is he or was he a forum vendor?

was at one time.. does not appear to be now..

I would put the shop name out there to protect others.. but based on how things are going I do not think he will be taking in any additional work anytime soon..

  12. ^^^ THIS!

Do not embellish, just report the truth. Report it to the BBB as well.

there is no need to deviate from the truth.. I have most of our conversation documented.. text, email, etc.. we rarely spoke on the phone... have the documents from shipping.. and have payment receipt.. and of course have a copy of the original receipt.

the "story" is actually very straight forward..

guy took gun.. guy went ghost.. found out guy was in hospital.. heard a lot of questionable local chatter.. want gun back..

    lol

  13. Try to contact the smith by phone and email. Send registered letter.

    If no joy, then:

Get in touch with police, and after talking with them, contact BATFE. If interstate, also contact FBI.

this is all in process.. my posting was as a side note just to get info about the gun out there in case anyone runs across it..

    thanks

  14. I am considering the gun stolen at this point because of all the information I have surrounding the situation.. I am not going to go into detail about peoples personal lives.. but sent the gun to a once reputable smith.. and now hearing very concerning stories about this person..

If anyone comes across any info it would be appreciated..

  15. Late to the party but am interested in seeing how this turned out.   Just ran my Saiga in a match for the first time and the "rock the mag" thing sucks. I need an easier and faster way to get the mags back in the gun.

A couple other additions for competition would be helpful as well.

-Extended mag release. That looks like an easy fix by bending and riveting or bolting a piece of metal on the existing mag release

-I have an AR carbine stock on a buffer tube. 60 rounds of buckshot left my shoulder bruised and battered. A Limb Saver pad or recoil absorbing stock would help.

-My Saiga was bought in 2001 and the barrel cut down to 19". Consequently it doesn't have a threaded barrel. Adding a compensator might be helpful for faster followup shots but I would either have to thread the barrel or use a clamp on comp. The clamp on ones I've been able to find tend to be expensive.

-Need a rail that will hold both sights and an Optic.  One phase of the match I shot was slugs out to 100 yards. I wasted a lot of slugs trying to hit knock downs with the bead on my Saiga. Although to be honest I just should have used my rifle sighted slug gun for that.

you may never see how this comes out.. I sent the gun to a gunsmith who at one time was highly respected.. and now has virtually fallen off the face of the earth.. the police are involved but even that appears to be a struggle.. it sucks.. a gun I had forever.. I may never see again..

  16. is there a magwell that will accept russian mags?

are the SGM the same size as Russian mags.. no offense but I think that SGM while functional.. are hideous looking..

  17.

I've been pretty happy with my JTE aluminum magwell. There is a very slight rock on seating. I think it holds the mags in a stronger way than some of the other options. The SGM "competition" s12 mags will generally work on those without alteration, as SGM cloned its plastic magwell geometry off of those.

If I were doing it all over again on a saiga, I think I would buy or modify a magwell to make it work with the V12 mags. I think those are going to be the de-facto standard going forward.

You can tune the JTE magwell to be drop free, or tug free depending on taste. I go for a snug drop free to minimize rattle and let the mags wear in. If I dip the barrel a little as I hit the release they drop free every time, but held perfectly level on target, I would say about 80%. Just personal taste in the fitting. A little less racy, but a little more solid.

I like this magwell better than The R&R because it is not huge and long, and is about half the cost. SGM makes no sense to me since the aluminum one costs the same. Tac47 is kinda neat, but I would plastic weld some extra material on each mag to support the rib where the catch engages. I think overall their mag fitting and control layout is the slickest, but the lack of structure there is a significant flaw.

when you run a magwell that uses no front catch.. like the JTE.. what the hell keeps the mag in?

Just the rear catch.  The mag can't rock, it can only go up and down due to it being surrounded by the mag well

    ah OK thanks..

so you can use any normal S12 mag.. and you just remove the front?
