  1. Look at the pics i posted... From that same angle, i can only see 1 of my ports. The other 2 ports, from that angle are obscured by the block. but usign a small flex flash light, put that int the gastube, right over the ports and lookign down the barell, i can see 3 unblocked holes. Thats the important part of all this. I think your right that it seems as if your barrol just needs a bit more turn to be perfect, but If you have the unobstructed holes then the gas will get in and cycle your next round.
  2. This past weekend i was finaly able to take my S12 out for a real test. Its a 3 holer... I cleaned and oiled her up. Using 2 Surefire 12rd mags ( factory mag wont lock in) I put 20 rounds of 00 LE buck thur ... no probs Then i put 100 rds of the walmart federal bulk thru it. At times i was firing as fast i could. I had exacly 1 stove pipe. I think i can now convert it with a clear mind and no fear that I'd have to return the weapon for service.
  3. Tonite i stoped at my local indoor range, they had a few 12rd magazines sitting on a rack last week and i decided to pick one up. As i'm up at the counter another guy was buying a NIB S12... He was looking at it and had no expericne with the Saiga's and i struck up a conversation with him and mentioned for him to take a look a the gas ports. I showed the shop owner what to do and look for and we all inspected it. It had 4 holes, 3 visible and the forth was visible in the barrel with a flash light shining from the gas ports down. The guy bough it. ($579) Before he put it back inthe box i a
  4. I havent had a chance to try out anything other the Remy 00. This weekend i'll put thru every kind of round i can get my hands on. I'm hoping i get positive results. I realy want to like this weapon but the inconsitences in the builds is turning me off. I shouldnt have the "hope" i get good perfomace from a brand new weapon. Although in the past having to tinker on an S12 was perfectly acceptable, at the current prices... not so much.
  5. I Emailed RAAC a question tonight about my New S12 only havign 3 holes and got a prompt reply. Hi , Thank you for your interest in our products. The current 12 gauges coming in the country have 3 holes in the gas system. The Russian factory is working on streamlining some of their work. The shotgun should cycle fine as they have been tested. 6. What do your gas ports look like now or what kind of modificatins where made?
  7. Blackthorne Products Insert standard Blackthorne/Hesse/Vulcan disclaimer boilerplate here. Question, what do you mean by this? I'm looking at there site and there prices seem really good. I've no expereince with buying form them. Are they not reputable?
  8. Yeah so can the CGW guys clear this up? What "should" a new Saiga12 19' Have for the Holes?
  9. I checked and your right it is not magnetic so i think it is the coating.
  10. OK so i was reading this tread tonite and just had to check mine. I've got a S-12 '19 with Ser # 08438XXX with a "born on" of 30 09 2008. I bough it NIB about 3-4 weeks ago and i've only shot it once. I put 20rd of 2 3/4 Federal Tac 9 -00 buck thru it without a problem. Except that that factory 5rd mag came apart 10 seconds after puting the 5th round in it. The metal top peice of the mag came off and all the shells popped out. ( havent explored that problem yet) I then put 5rds in my Surefire 12 rounder and fired off the 20 rd's 5 at a time without any problems. SO... i take th
  11. Nice looking set up. Think you could type out where and how much you got all your conversion parts from? Thanks
  12. Cool, Thanks for the Heads up. So any Immediate tips on this monster? I just took the cover off and the reciver spring out, first thing i noticed, this thing has zero lubrication in it. The other saiga's I've had where driping out of the box.
  13. So, I was at the the NE philly Armory show this weekend, and finaly pulled the trigger to get the Saiga 12. I saw at least 8 of them at the show. It was between a '24 for $590 or a 19' for $630 W/ new 13rd Mag. Both New in box with all the usualy stuff. I Know zilch about the 12's and usualy only follow the 7.62 & .223 I saw one table selling the 13rd mags for $80. So i went with the the '19. Good choice? Opinions? Whats better the 19' or the 24'?
