  1. I am going to convert a saiga to a PG version and may send it out for welding holes and refinish. Couldnt the cross hatch be removed by welding over and grinding down before refinish or some other epoxy filler then grind/refinish?
  2. I have the LCP - and also the Kahr PM9. The LCP is really small and you almost forget you have it in your pocket (in holster). The Kahr PM9 is much larger than the LCP, but is perfect for jeans (also carry it in pocket). I dont think youll go wrong with the LCP. You can also add a crimson trace laser that adds nothing to the gun sizewise but nice addition.
  3. If you install a bullet guide in your saiga, that will conflict with the bullet guide already built into the magazines for the saiga. You can grind off the mag bullet guide and it will feed standard aks and modded Saigas. Hope this helps.
  4. Re the BHO, there is a 2 part video on youtube you can keep it with the pg conversion
  5. im pretty sure legally im fine.. i called teh state police.. my concern was 992 compliance.. and what about my parts list.. am i missing anything.. any hints or tips.. Hello, Its easier if you count imported parts. YMMV not legal advice yada yada, but my understanding is that you need to keep import parts at 10 or less. You can find the letter re. AKs here somewhere. Based on what you said it looks like youre at 6 imported parts which means you GTG. (1) Receiver (2) Barrels (3) Mounting blocks, trunnion (rifles only) (4) Bolts (5) Bolt carriers (6) Gas pistons

  7. Hi Its not a stupid question they can be hard to install - glad you got it.
  8. The brake adds about 2". Ace cases make some inexpensive nice stuff.
  9. The FSB can be a pain in the azz to remove. Best bet may be to cut it longways with a dremel - carefully and dont cut into the barrel!
  10. If you already installed the guide and the thirty works then I would leave the gun and feed ramp alone. Unless you have another Saiga you are going to use the 10 rounder in, just modify it to fit what you have now. Hold both mags together and see the raised feed lip on the 10 rounder. Shave it down to look like the thirty. On your pre-converted Saiga that raised lip is your bullet guide. You now have a nice one built right into your rifle so you no longer need the one on the mag. If you installed a bullet guide, then the stock saiga mags will not cycle properly The purpose of instal
  11. fixed stock, non threaded barrel (or permanently affixed muzzle brake). No more than 15 round mags. US compliance parts. Youll be gtg YMMV in the gulag.
  12. Joe, thanks for the compliment. I actually have this site to thank for all the help! - Furniture - KVar black Nato length stock kit (US parts). - (bought at KVar). All the following purchased from Dinzag - Front sight base, threads turned down (no bayo lug), muzzle brake welded on, barrel pin to press new FSB on - Tapco G2 trigger kit modded for saiga - bullet guide kit - Lower handguard retainer - bolt on - Ak gas tube - Cleaning rod For magazines, Im going with either double stack Chinese 10 rounders, or modded 30 to 15 rounders (cut down 30's) - touc
  13. Dinzag sold me a tack welded a muzzle brake on a new FSB (with cleaning rod holder). Was very reasonable cost (far far less than having the barrel threaded then brake welded on). Reach out to him he can help. Great guy.
  14. Does anyone know anyone that sells them for 762. Stand alone? Thanks.
  15. Hi - authentic to what a standard AK47 w/ wood? I just did a 103 wannabe- Dinzag hooked me up with many of the parts. I posted the build pic on the boards here. Did you want to go with wood or synthetic black?
  16. Thanks for the compliments guys. Rangerdavid, thats the Nato length k-var stock set. Mike4, yes thats a factory saiga mag. I dremeled the top front of the mag down a bit to match the profile of an AK magazine (essentially removed the magazine's built in bullet guide). Worked out well.... but I do have to shave the mag release latch on the rifle down a bit to allow standard type AK mags to fit. I dont think it will present a problem for the saiga type mags to seat in the rifle (as modded above).
  17. Thanks to everyone here and Dinzag, my first saiga conversion is complete. Ill probably refinish it, but need to decide which type. The stuff from Dinzag made it go really well -- I never even tapped threads in my life until this project... but followed the directions he gave and install of bullet guide in trunnion went well. I had a lot of difficulty pressing off the FSB, but with enough patience and work that went ok too *minus the slight gouge on the barrel hidden by the FSB hehe*
  18. Well got the FSB off... had to dremel it down a bit more and hit it with a chisel. Man was that a stubborn SOB. The barrel surface got gouged about a 1/2" longways underneath either by the dremel (probably) or chisel, but it doesnt even register on the calipers (its less than what a thread would be) and will be covered. Thanks for the advice!
  19. The FSB on a 7.62 is not budging! I removed the pins, cut it down the center (but am not sure when to stop cutting so dont want to cut into barrel. I even heated the fsb with a propane torch! I have access to a 12 ton press, but what do you use for a jig to steady the barrel in the press. Can I make one out of 2x4's and cut a hole wide enough to tightly fit around barrel, then cut in half and place it under the fsb? Any help would be appreciated!
  20. I believe those can be shaved down flush as they are extended pins that assist holding the stock handguard on the rifle. Any other thoughts?
  21. Anyone have a clue where to find a factory one - short of selling off your first born? Waiting list ?
  22. Tell your friend Ill pay $500 shipped to FFL. Seriously.
