mine is 16 inches, so I assume it is OK.

How disconcerting is the gas that blows back in your face?
-
I am thinking about getting one. Anyone have experience in how well they reduce recoil and muzzle rise?
-
Mine was pinned. I could only knock out one pin. So I ended making a cut along the axis of the barrel.

I cut mine off and replaced it with this: FSB Threaded

My 16 inch Saiga has CAA handguards and a Threaded FSB. The Saiga cleaning rod is too long and thick. Where can i get one to fit the handguards and barrel? Cheap is good, since it is mainly for looks, I already have all the tools I need to clean my guns. I basically want to have the classic AK look, never mind all the plastic furniture.

I bought a AK74 style brake on Gunbroker for $20. It has 24mm threads a large gas chamber and the 3 offset ports. It does not have the zig zag ports. My thinking is that the 7.62x39 doesn't kick all that much to begin with, and I will get most of the performance of an AK74 brake without spending an additional $80. My last question was how much the zig zag ports improve performance over a brake without the zig zag ports.

How much of a difference in muzzle lift and recoil does the zig zag or half moon cuts make for a semi auto?
-
I just ground enough off to have to tap it home. It is not going anywhere. It cut off both ends, so it looks like a pin. I think the look of a screw or bolt head would bother me.

I ground down an size 10 screw to fit.

I went with the ATI Strikeforce collapsible stock. I am happy with it. I have a CAA foregrip. If you get the CAA pistol grip, keep in mind that it isn't made in the USA.

I had to cut mine off will a mini die grinder and cutting wheel. A dremel would also work.

Well, mine is finally done:

I was sighting my iron sights in with a laser bore sighter in the form of a 7.62x39 round. The bore sighter is made of brass. Like an idiot, I pulled the trigger with the bore sighter in the chamber. I am worried that the firing pin may have been damaged. Anyone have any words of wisdom?

Found a set.

I bought a Threaded AK74 FSB. I need the plunger spring and cross pin. Anyone have a set?
-
I am removing the FSB on my 7.62x39. After knocking out the pins, is it simply a matter of getting the FSB pulled off? I read something about a spring, but don't see it on my rifle.

$225 wow. Is it that much faster? Is it just me, or is this much ado about nothing?

I have a converted 7.62x39 for sale.

Finally....No Threading Required Muzzle Attachent

Is the price a secret? I like it! Will those plastic snap on rectangular rail covers fit on both the bottom and sides, and do you sell them, too? I think they're made by UTG but not sure. Also, is there a sling loop attachment on it, or is that separate? I can't tell from the pics. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...st&p=294141 http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...st&p=294142 How cool. I guess I'll be adding one to my buy list. Thanks Damage. -

Help needed with forestock and vertical grip selection...
skifast replied to 11sec_lx's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
You can add handguard with rails. It will require a handguard retainer like Dinzags. Or you can buy a rail and screw it to the bottom of the stock forearm. Some on this site have down a nice job venting the stock forearm. I have a CAA folding vertical grip. I like it.
