  1. Yes if you just put 5 or so rounds in it then it will work fine . Load all 30 and try it ,I bet that it doesn't work without some serious mods to the mag . I have a couple 5.45 converted to .223 that work but a follower need swapped out and some serious mods to the mag body were in order.
  2. Robinson Arms still list the followers on their website for $5.99 ea. Take a look under AK parts, they are still listed whether or not they have them I do not know .
  3. Short answer is yes . Make sure you order the correct type of guide for your trunion.Either flat or round. I had one round and 1 flat on my 2 conversions . Hope this helps
  4. With the factory 10 rd Russian mag ,you may or may not be getting a bullet guide.
  5. Drill 4 holes, 1 in each corner and then fire up the dremel. Mine did not have the hole on the first one but the secnd one was cut allready ! It can't be that difficult if I was able to pull it off !
  6. You can have the magwell opened up a little bit on the .223 Vepr to use the Steel German Weiger mags. Bulgy waffles work also, but they are a little tight in mine, but they will wear in and be fine. 5.45 mags can be modified to work, but it is not worth the trouble now a days, because 5.45 mags are $20 something each now not the $5 that they use to be ! Spend the few extra bucks and get the bulgy waffles ! Hope this helps ....
  7. There is a Green AK74 mag forsale on AR15.com in the old EE under AK mags for $50 if anyone is interested ? I am not connected with the seller, just thought that I would pass it along ...
  8. I had mine threaded 1/2 28 due to the fact that AR vortex F/Hers were about $25 less than the 14mm for the AK for the same type F/Her.
  9. I drilled 2 of mine with a cheap Black and decker cordless drill and a center punch . Use lots of lube and go slow with the tap , I went about 1/4 turn and backed it off and so on and it was a piece of cake !
  10. If you use Bulgy waffle mags in either 5.56, or 7.62X39 or even the German or Bulgy mags in 5.45 a U.S. floorplate is a easy, cheap part to replace that will have little effect on function .
  11. How long did it take to do this mod ? How difficult was it to do ? Thanks....Mike
  12. Greg I "Believe" that they are Bulgarian made.
  13. I have a feeling that their Vepr is differt than ours. I get the feeling that his Vepr is more akin to our Saiga. I believe he mentioned in another thread on another forum that the front of the mags assisted the bullet in the chamber. I would say that you need to look at your rifle and decide if you have a flat or a round trunnion. Dinzag sells both. Pictures of your rifle would help us deteemine what needs to be done .
  14. I am going to try the magpul follwer mod on a few of the Orilite Galil mags and was just reading the mod using the magpul followers looks like the way to go over the green USGI's. Where is a good place to get these from ? Thanks ...
  15. You will need to do a few minor modifications to the Galil grip to fit it to the Saiga, but it is nothing that you couldn't do with a dremel. The Ace grip is a nice choice , because it gives you +1 US part for 922.
  16. Do you just want to change the gas tube from your Saiga to a Bulgarian one so you can use standard AK furniture ? If so , you do not need to change the gas block, you may or may not need to tweek the gas tube a bit, but you should not need to change out the gas block . Am I following you on ? Nalioth thanks for explaining that , I learned something, I never knew that they were drilled at different angles in the barrel ! I need to get with you when I get some free time on the gas block on one of mine.
  17. I bought a part from Greg and was happy with my part from Greg!
  18. What size are you going to thread the muzzle ? 1/2 28 (AR15),14X1 LHT (AK ) ? If you were going to go 14X1 , I think that I have one of those funky thread protectors that Century used on the WASR's or one of the other Romy built rifles that I could send you for Free if you think that you might be able to use it as a spacer ? Let me know ? Mike
  19. I have a couple of both and I have to say , Vepr . The Vepr is just so much smoother than the Saiga. Nothing what so ever wrong with a Saiga,I like them alot also . Veprs cost alot more $ these days ,atleast here in the U.S.. HTH
  20. I had mine chopped and welded by one of the gunsmiths at Elk River Tool and Die and he mentioned that it was a pain. He did do a good job though. If you have a way to trim the site and weld it to the gas block, I am sure that you could do it yourself .
  21. Greg , I will take the RAA FSB for $5 . I am also in the Houston area any possibility of a FTF ? IF not , the shipping will be fine . Email me your address @: mikebaker1129@aol.com Thanks ...
  22. Dave M where can one purchase a shirt like that ? I need one of those and what is hidden by the AK ?
