Anyone know if the insides of the surefires are compatible with the factory Saiga mags ?

FWIW I purchased the bolt in your top link to have as a spare for my .223 Saiga and Vepr rifles. The main difference I note in the 2 is the Spring loaded firing pin and the hole for it is larger. Like you I wanted the .223 bolt, but they were sold out. They do get them in, be patient and jump on them when you see them listed. They do not know when the will be instock either, I called and ask.

Sounds like you want a Arsenal FCG from your description . It closely matches the profile of the Russian FCG. I have one because I refer the straight shape of the trigger,but the 2 stage is gritty and I have done some work to it ,but it needs more polishing. The Redstar says it fits the Vepr .223 and the Saiga .223 is basically the same,both use the spring loaded firing pin.

No, but I would be interested to know if the mag parts (internals interchange) between the factory mags and the SGM when you get them?

It seemed like more work to me than the Weigers. I modified some Weigers to fit both my Saiga and Vepr .It was severeal years ago ,but it did not seem like as much work as the Yugo's . I also used a file ,it was alot of filing !

I picked up some of the Bulgy mags from Kvar on sale about 1 month ago for $25 ea. I regularly pick up used Polish Beryl mags for $25-26 ea.

Yes the steel Yugo 85 mags can be made to fit a Saiga. I have to function test this before I give it a thumbs up.Galil mags are a no go in a Valmet in .223. Bulgy,Weiger and Yugo M85's can be made to work in the Valmet. The bullets nose dive into the chamber with Galil mags,which is a shame because they lock right in. I would like to get my hands on some of the plastic Yugo mags and give them a try .

If I recall the East German AK74 F/P and extractor will work.

Have never had any problems with the Beryl mags.. They are my preferred mag for the Saiga, with the best fit and seating height. They simply need a small bit of modding either to the individual mags or the rifle itself. These mags are steel reinforced at the front and are pretty stout. The newer versions (green transparent plastic) lack the reinforcements but are apparently current Polish military issue. Unfortunately they're not that cheap any more, but they're still cheaper than Bulgarian 5.56 mags. This +1. Beryl mags are some of the best out there and are very easy to mod,you remove so

Mancat mine is the slabside with the heavy barrel . I read a thread where someone converted these to fit a Valmet. That is my next task,since Valmet mags are $150ea and these are $20.I picked mine up from Copes,but I read somewhere Buds has them for less.

I just modified 1 to fit in my Saiga yesterday. Now I need to function test it . The mods to the mag to get it to work in the Saiga are not worth the trouble. You have to remove a little material from the rear , you need to remove about 1mm to clear the trunnion,and then you need to re cut the area on the front of the mag for the bullet guide. They are on the AKM pattern. Like others I picked up some because they were cheap ($20),they can be had for less now if you shop around.
