  1. Thanks ARC you were right on the money. Took out the bullet guide, threw in the factory magazine, worked fine. I just have to figure out the best way to file down the bullet guide so the bolt will go over it without destroying it at the samw time. Thanks again for your help guys.
  2. Thanks guys for the suggestions, the bullet guide was the .223 one purchased from dinzag. I did have to have shave off part of the back side of the bullet guide because I tapped the hole to close to the trunion, but wouldnt that make it less likely to hit the bolt? I also tested it by hand before I reassembled it and had no problems cycling the rounds by hand with the bolt carrier removed. Btt I will check again and see if maybe I need to grind part of it down. Ammunition was Silver Bear 62 grain hollow point. Not remanufactered.
  3. Hey guys, I FINALLY converted my .223, so now I have both my 7.62 and .223 converted. I had test fired my .223 in the factory configuration and it worked fine. Now that I have it converted, for some reason the bolt will not close with ammunition in the chamber. It will close fine when nothing is in the chamber, but when I attempt to chamber a round the bolt gets close, but then stops about a 1/4 inch from closing all the way. I disassembled the weapon for cleaning and then re-assembled it agin, same problem. I have no idea what it could be. Initally I thought it was the bullet gu
  4. By your description the main problem is not being able to get the axis pin out. Did you remove the retainer wire? Yeah, that sounds accurate, it is the pin that holds the "trigger" assembly together. The trigger iscompletely removed from the rifle. There is a retaing wire that is keeping the axis pin in?
  5. Hey guys, I have completely disassembled my 7.62 and removed the trigger plate. The only problem is that I cannot get the original disconnector spring out. I have tried to punch out the pin every way that I can think of. I have tried it with the spring pressed down, with it not pressed down, half way pressed down, etc. Anyone have any suggestions/tips?
  6. I believe R&R arms and centerfire systems both have them. You may want to hurry, prices have recently gone up at Centerfire (from 279.99 to 349.99), so R&R may follow suit.
  7. Hey guys, first I wanted to thank everybody for their help, especially MD, I had not seen the gunparts website, saved me some money on the mags. I have all of the parts in transit to me at this time (thanks for shipping to the bullet guides so quick Dinzag). A couple of last minute questions: 1. To have the 7.62 take AK mags I have to file down the mag catch. Now, do I file the part that you push to release the mag OR the two metal posts/bracket that sticks out of the bottom of the receiver OR both. I know this is sorta of a stupid question, but I know once you file it down, it
  8. Ok, thanks Hogdag, I appreciate it. I was thinking of going with the Tapco T6 adjustable stock, so I think I will be ok. I was just on dinzags site checking out his bullet guides. I will go check out the FCG. I am definitely going US made with the FCG, stock, pistol grip and forearm. I may also switch out the gas piston, although I would prefer not to. I am aware of 922® and am going make sure to stay in compliance.
  9. Umm little correction here. After installing the bullet guide you don't file the AK mags, you file the mag catch. OK, again thanks. This place is invaluable. I am sure that I will be on here again with other questions, but I appreciate your help.
  10. Awesome, I appreciate all the help, I would have been really upset to order everything and not have the pistol nut grip. I also appreciate the info about the trigger guard, good to know.
  11. Hey guys, I have been lurking on the forum for a while and finally made the plunge yesterday, buying a set of "twins", 16" Saigas in .223 and 7.62x39. I want to convert them both but before I make Tapco a nice little profit this quarter, I wanted to double check somethings with you guys, just to make sure: 1. Does the Tapco saw pistol grip include the grip screw and bolt? 2. Once the pistol grip conversion is complete, I can add ANY stock for a stamped AK reciever without removing the tang? 3. Is there any reason to spend the money on the Tromix fire control group versus the G2
