  1. Yeah but all I have to do is put it on, go shoot, come back and say I don't like it. Then I can put the other one on.
  2. I was overruled. The wife likes the dragunov stock better.
  3. The dragunov stock came in. There is no way I am putting anything with a metal butt plate on a shotgun. I don't care if it has a spring under it. I will put it on my WASR-10. I am going to cut my receiver to put the other stock on. The other stock is longer and has checkering that matches the handguard.
  4. Well, I already have a laminated dragunov stock on its way. I will put that on and see what it looks like. If I like it I will use it. If not I will mod the receiver and install the other stock.
  5. Cobra I already have the vepr handguard on there and it fits great. I was just wondering what to do with the slant cut stock that came with the handguard. If I don't like the dragunov stock that I ordered I will use the slant cut one. I don't want to cut the stock because I have seen pictures of the slant cut stocks cut to square and I don't like them. They don't look like they belong. I know I can cut the receiver and it will match the stock. I can work metal far easier than I can wood. I was also concerned about weakening the VEPR stock by making it fit and it cracking when I shoot slugs. I

    Bipod

    I know my dad's M1a seems heaver than my v21 s-308

    Bipod

Mine seems pretty stable I haven't noticed it wanting to tip over. That being said I can't find a name on it anywhere. Just a string of numbers. Looking at pictures doesn't help because the copies look really close too. I seem to remember when I bought mine that I had a choice of a name brand or knockoff and I spent more money. What ever you get I think a bipod is a good choice. The only time I don't use mine is when I already have my sandbags out.
  8. Not that big of a deal. I spent a couple of hours online and found a Dragunov style on gunbroker.
  9. I don't care about the legalities associated with the thumbhole stock I live in Texas. I like the way it looks. One question though if the thumbhole stock is a workaround for removing the pistol grip to comply with this b.s. law. Are the imports the only ones getting the thumbhole stocks. I thought the VEPR's were the top end and they have nice wood furniture.
  10. Everyone is making more sense than I am. I owe it to myself to find another alternative. My only reason should be for the aesthetics and I should be able to find another way to get the same result. I need to find a stock that balances with the larger handguard. The ak-74 stock I have now is just a little bigger and looks out of place. It is just my impulsive nature that suggests that any solution can be the right one.
  11. I do live in the south. I do drive a pickup. I am good with making things work in ways never intended. But I will never put duct tape on a gun. HA HA HA. I have done the whole "Black rifle thing. I have a wasr-10 that I put a side folder and quad rail on. I hated it. I think wood looks better. I am prone to impulse actions. I know it might not make sense to alter a $600 shotgun when I can spend 1\10th that on a part. But then there is the part of me that says why spend anything. They never intended for the Saiga-12 to have wood furniture. That sounds like a challenge to me.
  12. With the drum all the way in where does the release latch hit. I can't tell from the first pic. Is the drum flush with the receiver? It looks close.
  13. My first time I realized I had taken enough off for the drum to fit in the hole it was where the lock catches that had to be trimmed.

    Bipod

Is the Harris bi-pod available at walmart? $50 or so? If so that is what I have. The one I have looks exactly like the ones in the pictures. Ok, damn that sounds country. rotflol
  15. I can hear it now. WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING? I have my reasons. You might not think they are good. But anyway. My search for a wooden hand guard eventually led me to purchase a Vepr wood kit from saigastock.com. $65 for hand guard and beautiful thumbhole stock. I already have a v21 .308 with the same stock and I love it. But the stock is for a slant cut receiver. I could spend another $50-$100 and get another stock that would fit but what would I do with this one. I could cut the stock to fit, but I have seen the pictures of guys that have done this and they don't look right. They look like they h
  16. I used jb weld and painted over it. You can't tell they were ever there.
  17. I don't ever intend to act in such a manner regarding my firearms to draw enough attention to myself to warrant any scrutiny.
  18. For the record this is all hypothetical. I already have more than enough american made parts. Mags, fcg, gas puck, muzzle device, I'm sure I am forgetting something. It was just a question. I agree with Sim_player in the burden of proof statement. Thanks
  19. Technically speaking it is foreign made parts. I am putting the butt stock and lower hand guard on my S12. There weren't any marks to begin with and now I have stained and cleared the wood. Hypothetically were someone to question the compliance of my shotgun who's to say where these parts came from. Now I am in Texas, and have never even seen an A.T.F. agent at any of the events I shoot at. I seriously doubt anyone will ever have any concern over anything I own. But what is the best answer.
  20. ok I just wasn't sure if you had a problem, or was just remarking on the better trigger pull.
  21. If you mean you barely have to press on the trigger to release the hammer then I never had that problem. I used a fcg from texas ak triggers and it has a normal Kalashnikov trigger pull now. Will it release the hammer if you slam the butt on the floor? If so you really have a problem.
  22. I like the trigger key chain. I reload many different rounds, and have made necklaces like that, but never thought about the keychain.
  23. Yeah my s-308 is not as near as bad as my m44 or my 91/30. You get used to the Nagant's though. Just shoot a bunch of 3" slugs through a 12ga and you will be ready for anything.
  24. Well I looked at the disconnector, I didn't measure it, but the spring sticks out further than in the picture. So I guess that is not it.
