7.62x39mm all the way.

I dont have a saiga 12 at this time but could it be just the extra tension on the spring of the magazine making the gun have to work harder then after you get a few shot it works because the extra tension is no longer there.

I haven't seen one either but I agree with your observation. Looks like it bolts onto the lower portion.

Davswm is correct, that is why most military folders go right. Except those installed on S-12s, (and AK-100 series rifles), by Izhmash. Yeah but dont the ak 100 series folder have a cut out for the side mount?

I wasn't able to find this when searching but maybe I just fail at searching for stuff but what kind of paint do they use to paint receivers from the factory?

I say get a saiga and convert it. Save a few dollars which you can use to buy more ammo plus conversions are fun and saigas are high quality.

I dont have a folder but this is just my thoughts on the topic. I think the reason alot of people get a right folder is so they can still use the optics mount. I have seen people with left folders though and some of the folding mechanism can be mounted either way so i'm not sure why you don't see more left folders.

Welcome to the forum. This place is full of useful information and alot of great people. I did my 7.62x39mm conversion using this forum and it was super easy. Just a warning. you will get addicted to the saiga.
