    MD arms drum ?

I am sure it has been covered but can't seem to find in the faq on here or the MD arms site. If I load about 10-12 rounds in my drum everything works fine but if I load more then the spring won't even push the rounds up to be fed. With the drum out of the gun anything over 12 rounds will stay down in the drum and not rise up to the feed lips. I am not sure which way to go with this. My instinct says it needs more spring tension but why would it feed fine with less rounds and thus less loaded spring tensions. What am I missing? Thanks.
  2. Yep.........Truer words never spoken........... .........and this one is my favorite.......Jeaux' Big Ten Inch............... (Inspired by the first pic I ever saw of Tony's personal shorty.......a 12") Looks like that one has the standard length gas system, I am guessing this was before he figured out how to remanufacture the gas system.....I like the way the barrel just barely sticks out of the stock. I am debating on whether or not I want the MP5 sights or not, not really functional since as a home defense weapon I probably won't be using the sights much, just t
  3. Not yet, although I did look at their site.....several times.....and after doing the math the difference in price is worth not having to deal with ffl shipping several times so I will end up getting the saiga12 with 8" barrel and folding stock straight from them. Any idea how long of a wait there is? I am still saving for it but it would be nice to know how long I would need to wait. Thanks

    SBS Length?

After looking at the price for a base saiga12 plus the conversion, plus the sbs mod, OR the saiga12 with factory pistol grip/folding stock plus the sbs conversion.....both of these end up being about $100 less than buying tromix's 8" version. I think I would rather pay the extra $100 than go through FFL shipping at least 3 times. So I guess I'll have to save up a few more bucks.
  5. I need to find out who you would recommend as a skilled gunsmith to shorten the barrel (from 19" to either 8" or 10") as well as the gas system, and of course re-finish it with reliable results. I know it's not as easy as just chopping the barrel since it is tapered so I need to do my homework on who is good to go to and word of mouth is normally a pretty good source for recommendations. Thanks

    SBS Length?

If the tromix price tag wasn't so much I'd just buy one of theirs. They have more mods done to theirs than I would care to get. I basically want a standard s12 either converted or factory built with the tactical (AK located) pistol grip, folding stock, 8" barrel, and treaded for a muzzle break. The other "bolt-ons" I would do later.
  7. Being new to the saiga modding world I am doing my research so that when it comes time to do the project it can happen fairly fast. One of the things I have run into is regarding the gas ports, more exactly, drilling a 4th port. This seems to come up when the discussion of shortening the barrel is mentioned. What effect does this extra port have in relation to a shorter barrel? The only thing I can think of is that a shorter barrel wouldn't have as much back pressure to force the gas to cycle through to the piston and therefore needs an extra port to flow the same volume of gas with le

    SBS Length?

I know it's bad manners to hijack, especially on the first post but I figure it is better than cluttering up the forum with another thread that will end up with the same info, so............ take me to Lebanon Aside from BATF SBS tax what kind of cost would something like this be. Shortening to the point just before having to shorten the gas tubepiston Vs. shortening enough to need to modify the gas tube/piston (like a krink) ? would it be cheaper to just buy the 8" version. I am looking at this as a self defense weapon, not target or sport shooting. Thanks
