    Twist Rate

Anyone know the twist rate on the Saiga 308 barrel? With this rate, what is the heaviest bullet (grain) that someone can shoot out of them? I want to start loading some rounds and want the heaviest grain possible..... TIA GL
  2. OK so I do not have an answer, but have done some research on the net and apparently everyone is stating the same thing, so can someone explain why the this is the opposite for the 5.56 and the 223? Does anyone know where I can get a NATO reloading manual? Thx GL
  3. This is deep, the Saiga 308 can shoot the 7.62X51.... Most of us know that they are 1 in the same, in other words little boss the Saiga is in fact a NATO rifle WOW
  4. I pull the bolt back and let it fly..... If I do not hold the trigger I can pull the bolt back and it goes forward normally, pull it back again and release with no issues, it only engages the BHO when I pull the trigger and keep it depressed... When I am shooting I squeeze the trigger by the time it finishes discharging and recycles the trigger is still depressed so this bolt would stay back on the last shot... This is why I am asking if anyone else has this trigger group.. Not everyone spends $90 for a trigger system but I'll tell you all something it is well worth it...... Thanks GL
  5. I converted my 308 to a PG, I used the FCG above, I decided to do some tests to make sure that this thing is not going to go FA on me... So with the cover/gas piston/bolt off I pushed the hammer down and it engaged, this is good, I pulled the trigger and it release the hammer I let the trigger go, I repeated this step with the exception that I did not release the trigger the hammer came up and with the trigger still pulled I pushed the hammer down again and it engaged fine, this is a good thing no FA issues.... So today I was playing with it and I noticed something pretty cool, but I am no
  6. Fixed, I used the old wire retainer.....
  7. Lucky you about the hole for the PG, see: Just an FYI the retaining plate may work for you, I purchased a Red Star Arms trigger group for mine.... GL
  8. Check this guys videos out, when you are going to put it back together watch the BHO video which he includes... http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=rjs3484&view=videos Some suggestions, it is a different conversion the the X39 or 223 rifles... First their are no rivets to drill out on the side of the receiver, there are only 2 pins you push through you must remove the wire spring that holds the trigger & hammer pins first, then remove the trigger before the hammer.... For the trigger guard you have to follow the instructions given on the video but there are 2 additional rivet
  9. Hello again, Well after procrastinating for 7 months I finally started to convert my 308 to a PG style weapon. I research here what it would entail and found a lot of info from you guys... Kudos... The only problem that I am having is that I can not re-install the safety lever I tried without the trigger installed but then I can not install the retaining plate and with the trigger in the safety will not go over the trigger assembly... I am very close to leaving the safety off LOL J/K... I put a Red Star Arms Adj trigger group on... Any tricks/tips on how to accomplish this? Thx
  10. Is this what you are looking for? http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/index.p...products_id=125
  11. Never mind I just had to push the bolt in a little harder and it went in the whole way... I still need to know how to contact Dinzag Thanks anyway
  12. I have never owned an AK or Saiga before this is my first, I received my ammo today and loaded the weapon to check if it would cycle properly, it does seem to do so without a problem. Yet to fire it..... Unloaded Weapon Loaded Weapon When a round is loaded is it common that the bolt be back as pictured, it is opened about a 1/2 inch? On another note, how does one contact Dinzag from www.dinzagarms.com I e-mailed him/them in regards to some parts and never got an answer. On Saiga.com there is an e-store how does one contact them? Thanks GL08
  13. Sounds like my local gunsmith at the gun shop I go to. Tell them that a squirrel told you that it would rather get hit by a 223 then a X39.... The chanced of survival are greater...
  14. Thanks Will, the replies where after I had posted asking, maybe someone should make a suggestion to sticky note they link to the conversion process under tech help.. Thanks again Will........

    Saiga 308

It already has, thank you all for your kind help and patience with me, but I am still curious as to why they would do this? And allow it to be converted back to an AK stile weapon.... Who knows why the Gov does half of the things they do just makes no since.......... GL08

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU , that was the best explanation possible, you must modify the trigger guard, in it's current location lies the PG hole. Now ask me if I am going to do this???? NOT It sucks that his second clip he did not have the video pointed at what he was doing, also how did he bolt on the trigger guard, the front he put under the mag release but how did he tighten the rear down? Where do you get the replacement pins? Thanks again Monte, you da man.....

OK I have figured out the problem and I am right the grip can not go on the receiver itself. Here is the problem: Look at these 2 pictures, another poster posted his 308 that he is doing a bubba job on, pic 1 my receiver: The next is another posters weapon 308: What is wrong with this picture? Look at the trigger guard and it's position, mine is back away from the mag release, the other posters is right next to it. So there is my problem they put my trigger in the incorrect spot. Why they would do this is beyond me, so my next question is am I going to have a problem
  18. She looks good, I have a few questions please: Why is your receiver longer then mine, your PG fits on the receiver itself mine does not, see; And is that a sight/brake combo? does the brake thread on or is it attached to the sight.

This should real good since now: That revet you are looking at is the end of the trigger guard and receiver... Thanks again hogdog

    Saiga 308

Hogdog I really appreciate your input but what you are saying does not make any since due to the fact that as you can see by the pictures I posted there is no room for the PG hole, look carefully at post # 18 picture 2 & 3 the trigger guard is at the end of the receiver, there is no more room after it. From what you are saying the PG hole would be right after the trigger and as you can see by picture #1 in post # 21 shows the revet that holds the trigger guard, you can actually see the trigger guard right underneath it. The way you are explaining this is I would have to modify the enti

OK I figured out that the PG does not go on the receiver but is attached to the buttstock itself.

    Saiga 308

I have looked far and wide for the PG nut hole and can not find her. Also the safety selector will not raise up any further then what is shown in the PIC, I took this baby all apart today to get the feel for the disassembly of this weapon. PG: Safety Lever: It looks like the trigger is in the way... Thanks as usual
