  1. CrazyJ, don't do your conversion. It'll likely cause even worse deformation...once the bolt carrier moves violently rearward prior to feeding this round. See, the current angle, is designed to make the fast rear moving carrier bottom surface, a gradual one that doesn't 'pinch' the round much. I think the best solution to deformation isn't about changing the gun, perhaps it's time to consider the cartridge case material: an all-steel case perhaps? I know there's at least one in Russia, and I know in the distant past there was all-brass shotty cases in the western world.
  2. Would some of you switch to a new buckshot load, if it was frangible? That's what Remington is gonna show off at the SHOT show...frangible buckshot for police and civilian use. Maybe also useful for army/specops breaching teams too...no need to switch between frangible slugs for blowing door locks off their hinges, but still has the initial penetration and momentum of buckshot, the pattern of buckshot. Also, alternatively, say you were a soldier going off to Philipinnes or Iraq, and was using a Saiga for CQB, would you use 000 buckshot (10 pellets in the 3 inch) or 00 (15 in the 3)?
  3. Like as in dealing with the common North American Male Kraachead for instance, or the feared Homeinvadus Maximus? 2 3/4 light? magnum? 3 inch? birdshot, 000 buck, slugs, dragon fire?
  4. >>"we all would like having a true bolt hold open device but that's a dream Maybe one day someone from Izhmash will visit this site and do it. It would be great to see them come from the factory." Saiga 12gauge AK SWAT variant Saiga 12gauge AK SWAT variant with new magazine designed for combat. Some of these guys are using the older version, while others have the new version. The old ones were very awkward to change to a fresh magazine, while the new ones are easy to do (automatic bolt hold-open on new ones) http://russianarms.info/rost2004/images/7/photo%20295.jpg
  5. Shouldn't this thread be a sticky at the top? Or part of the FAQ or modifications area? I mean, easier/simpler loading of mags even when fumble-fingered under stress...pretty important mod if you ask me!
  6. Oh, and anyone know if they are cheap or not?
  7. Now that the AW ban is done, can you put flashiders on these things? Or still not allowed?
  8. Just thought you guys might like this! http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~starbug/shotgunguide.htm

  10. So once you get these things up and running, use the right gas settings with the right ammo, they are comparable in reliability to an 870 or Beneli? Cause that would be pretty cool considering the low cost, easy modifications and big box magazines...
  11. We should christen it the "stimpson magazine guide"!
  12. Maybe a drawing/schematic might be useful for those with skills and tools! Also, wouldn't this be almost MORE important to speed reloading than having a normal western style bolt hold open? I mean, the big problem is just inserting the mag while the carrier is forward, right? And this device fixes that problem?
  13. No idea if it'll fit, but Krebs has an AK 3 rail for 125...
