  1. 14 vs 16. I've heard the newer steyr high cap mags are 15 rd. Mine from the older M9 are only 14 round. I have four of them....all are only 14 round...trust me i have tried to get a 15th in there....no go......so for me anyway it is 15 total.... i just got in some mecgar 18 rd mags and some 20 rd mags as well..i haven't shot them yet but they are enanced functioning mags and they are from mecgar so i have no reason to doubt them.
  2. Self cleaning sounds like the line of BS that was handed out to our troops during the initial issue of the M16. I think that anytime you have anything with moving parts that you will depend on to save your life then it would behoove you to get your "self" to cleaning it.
  3. Actually that is the primary use that the Marines have for a shotgun, blowing hinges and locks off of doors. That and doing guard duty that is.

    Rear sights?

i'm pretty sure that i used a stock Berretta 92 FS pistol sight. I got mine from numrich (gunpartscorp.com). First i tried an adjustable sight for the 92 but had interfence. So i went with the basic sight. It fit a little loose but i peened the dovetail a little and its solid now and much better than the original sight i got from russmilitary. Elevation seems in the ballpark but i haven't really shot it much since i installed it..so many projects so little time.

    RED SIGHTS

Thas what i figured but i 1) cannot find the stuff that came with my sight, which would presumably include the tool you mentioned and 2) could not figure out how to do so from the "manual" that came with it. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I had the same thing happen on a MAK-90, i did some grinding on the FCG which fixed that problem ..and discovered i had a HS issue.

    RED SIGHTS

I would bet on the Kobra as best able to withstand the recoil of the three you mentioned. I have one on my S12 using the standard Kobra mount and the only complaint i have is that i've run out of elevation adjustment. Of course my preference for a HD/SD type weapon would be the Aimpoint.
  8. a front sight has a lot less mass than a light so it won't move around. What kind of pistol sight did jnewt use on the rear? I'm thinking about using a Berretta 92 sight on mine.
  9. Akshully i wouldn't recommend anyone dragging their gun through the mud and driving a truck over it before using it in combat...well some users of AKs, in a certain sandy area of the world ,I would highly recommend doing just that!
  10. I've heard of a lot more people that think that the Hakko's are POS than folks that like them. I doubt if there is any adjustement to get rid of the effect you are seeing its probably a defect, I'd use this as an opportunity to get a refund.
  11. thanks everybody. I finally found a picture of the piston and walked right over to where it had been laying on my garage floor. It was kind of tough looking for something when i wasn't really sure what it looked like. Anyway i just got back from the range today and it functioned great! The next step is to cut 4.5 inches of barrel off and put a rear sight on it. I found that just using the russmilitary front sight i was doing fine until i got to about 20 yards when i was checking the pattern. Anyway problem solved. It is kind of amazing that a gas powered gun would almost function,
  12. thanks johnny! I had misplaced the second part of my piston when i began the conversion a couple of months ago and did not even know what i was looking forl
  13. okay i guess i gotta figure out which of the gun parts i have laying around here is what you're talking about. Anyone got a picture.. thanks for helping a dum*&^% out
  14. Cobra 76two - I'm not sure what you mean by the term "blind plug piston" Is that the same as the adjuster plug on the front? (I'm begining to get that dumba*s feeling that i've left a part out). I cannot find my manual and the .pdf i downloaded has a useless exploded parts diagram. I did shine a light in the port and could see something in the barrel so at least SOME of the port is open. krom32117- nope i haven't cut the barrel down yet, i was going to function test it with my conversion first (good thing huh?).
