  1. Maybe someone can help me with a hopefully easy question: Does the fusion handguard need the retainer, and I'm assuming that the Saiga Galil Handguards have everything needed included with them? (http://www.dinzagarms.com/furniture/tapco.html)
  2. thanks for the advice guys, I'm probably going to go with the 10-22. Give me something to play around with modding it if I want to, and hopefully good out of the box too. I was thinking that the hm2 was interesting, but you're right, I can get 22 ammo cheap and get it anywhere, there is something to be said about that.
  3. I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on a good range rifle? Cabelas has a 22lr right now for $99. Mossberg 720 I think? I'd really like a semi-auto, but I dont have a good reason for that other than I worry about higher taxes on semis in a few months. I was also thinking about a ruger 10-22, you can get a conversion kit to accept hm2 for the 10-22 for a couple hundred dollars. I haven't shot any .17 ammo but from what I've read, it seems interesting. However, the Mossberg for $100 seems like a nice cheap range weapon that I could also use on smaller critters if I ever desired. I
  4. once you add this though, you get into compliance issues, and you'll need to either use US mags or replace a couple more things to be compliant (the way I understand it). It looks like this stock sits lower than the factory stock, anyone have any issues with that?
  5. I was thinking that with a PSO scope, I could still use the irons for closer shooting, is that not correct? If thats not the case, then something more like the Leapers might be in order. I did a quick google search and I wasn't sure I was finding the proper Leapers scope though, it took me to a bunch of pages for airsoft rifles? Could you PM me a link so I know for sure that I'm looking at what you have? Thanks for all the opinions, I'd be curious if anyone else has any comparisons between the two styles? I'd really like somethingthat will let you use your iron sights and the scope, but I
  6. My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I decided that a nice PSOP 4x24 scope would be a great gift... But, I really want to make sure I'm getting something that is recommended and from a place that is reputable. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what type of scope I should get and where I could find it? I'm thinking that a 4x24 is plenty of scope for the rifle, my main concerns are that it holds true, easy to put on, and is in the $150 range. Thanks in advance!
  7. Ok, she found another one, this doesn't look to be in too good of shape, and it just looks weird... Here are some pictures. One more question, she's in New Jersey, and I'm in Missouri. I dont know if its worth her sending the guns to me so I can clean them up and sell them or if she should just take them somewhere. She's looking for some cash from them. Any suggestions on what she should do? Thanks again!
  8. Ok, getting a little more info from her. She says the two rifles say: "Manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven, Conn. USA" one of them says "Model 8-3" The shotgun she says it has on it: "CF Leader" but she didn't find the guage. She's going to look for more markings on the rifles, I'm thinking the shotgun isn't anything too special. I'll hopefully have more pictures soon. Thanks again!
  9. Thank you all for your wonderful help. I emailed her to see if she can find any markings at all on them. I'll let you know what she finds. You guys are a great help and I really appreciate you taking the time to help.
  10. Hi everyone, I hope its ok to post this here. I was sent a few pictures from a friend that found guns in the attic, unfortunately she's not close enough for me to go over and really inspect them and I dont know much more than the pictures. At first glance, they don't look like much, but I dont want to tell her that, then have her go to a gun shop and potentially get ripped off.
  11. Hi everyone, I have a question for you all, and I know you guys know more about this than I do. I just purchased a .223 and I really like it. BUT (there is always a but) its missing a few things. One thing to note is that I've never worked on a gun before, but I'd like to learn. The second thing to know is that I don't have a drill press or any heavy tools. First off, the look is a little "plain". Secondly, mags are expensive and not easy to find. And finally, I'd like a nice little scope. So, I was thinking, to remedy the second situation, I could get one the AR adapters that are b
  12. I'm excited! Where do I get in line? Still looking to be available at the previously mentioned price point?
