I'm new to Saiga shotguns, I'm hoping to get an S-12 tomorrow. What handguard is that on Sapper's on the prayer rug?
-
No, the barrel is too fat for an original HG retainer. I ended up wallowing out one from a Yugo until it would slide on.

I wonder if anybody has used the Tantal muzzle brake on a 7.62x39 rifle, the inside diameter is big enough. Any thoughts on that?

1. The buttstock is not laminated. 2. RSB is marked MISR S/A 7.62x39 mm 3. Sight leaf is marked P,and 1 through 10. 4. Muzzle threads are turned down, 1/2x28 here we go.

I got this non matching number kit that looks different than other Egyptian parts kits I've seen. Can anybody fill me in on this? The handguards are missing, the buttstock has a commercial look to it more than what I'd expect to see on a military Egyptian rifle. If I find out what exactly I have I can start looking for a matching handguard.

I've been wanting to do something different for fun and had a bunch of extra parts so I just got started without a plan. I posted some pics a while back when I was moving the fire control group. If I did it all again I would do some things differently but I am getting a smile on my face as I look at this rifle. It was the long barreled Saiga .308 originally. I had this used U.S. made walnut furniture, pistol grip etc. I actually had the matching walnut grip and broke it by being impatient. I was trimming it to fit around some extra rivets in the reinforcement plate I added.

I'm anxious to here more about this. I just got started doing some conversions and on this last one I used a Dremel wheel to cut the "teeth" into the barrel. I'm not happy with that approach.

I'm waiting for his response right now.

What is the wait time on that part?

I did a conversion of my Saiga .223 to an AK74 and see that doing a .308 conversion will have to be different. I've seen the Galil style handguards advertised. One is for .223/7.62x39 and one is for the 12 guage. Can either of these handguards be adapted to work on the .308?
