  1. If it works, leave it alone. Wiggle/play in gas pistons vary. As long as it works as is, there's no reason to fiddle with it.
  2. Well, considering there was a guy who built a one-of revolver in one of those ridiculous elephant gun calibers - I'm calling bullshit.
  3. The Spanish Ruby pistol is very similar. The action is essentially a direct copy, but the dimensions are different.
  4. Thank you for all the positive words. I will recover from this. It's a long road ahead, but I'll be made whole again. I'm handling, mentally. Stayed calm throughout the ordeal, never lost it. Not a pleasant situation, but the loss of about 10 years of collecting beautiful historical artifacts is much harder to handle than a few scumbags having pointed guns at my head.
  5. This firearm was stolen this morning during a home invasion robbery. If it is recovered, it will still be for sale. Shitty doors that can be kicked in easily largely negate the ownership of defensive arms. As a sound sleeper, I awoke with a pistol pointed at my skull. When I have a police report, I will forward a copy to anyone for whom it is relevant - namely, to anyone with whom I had a pending transaction. It may take much longer than intended, but I will make it right with anyone with whom I have an agreement. The vast majority of my collection was stolen from me this morning, including a
  6. Got any interest in a Walther Model 4? It's an oddball little left-hand ejector. Smooth shooter, but weird to see that ejection port on the left.
  7. Asking $400 shipped to your FFL OBO for my gently used Sub-2000 in .40 S&W. After it had been disassembled and reassembled improperly so that it no longer functioned, I recently sent it back to Keltec for repair. It has been factory test-fired and is good to go. Includes your choice of one 15-round or one 10-round mag. Comes with original factory box, manual, key - all the stuff in the little bag in the top of the box. No fired case, as I didn't get one with the rifle. Pics can be taken and posted or sent on request. For a list of desired trades please see my other sale thread: http://fo
  8. I prefer the original black grips (tree resin, I think) that came on the blued models, even on the shiny ones. Wood grips, on both models, never looked great to me.
  9. Does it have grips? Mind if we ask what you dropped on it? I had a 1903, briefly. Nifty little pistol. I really couldn't afford it when I picked the thing up, ended up getting rid of it shortly thereafter. I highly recommend grabbing a snap cap for it - dry firing is a bad call. I still have an old Spanish Ruby from the first world war - mechanically a copy of the 1903, thought the dimensions are different. I can't remember if the Colt guns are built the same way, but on the Ruby it's effectively impossibly to replace the firing pin - it's installed through a hole in the rear of th
  10. Are you talking about the Model 1903, or a wheelgun of some type?
  11. I haven't had any issues with Tulammo, in 54R or x39. I've dumped plenty of the x39 through AKs without bothering to clean, and haven't had any issues with rust. Same with the 54R. Could be you got fucked over. Any chance the walk-in closet is more humid than other parts of the house, or it was otherwise exposed to conditions your other firearms weren't? Glad there wasn't any major damage, but still, shit. I put about 60 rounds through the Mosin today. I was very, very happy with how it performed - a Type 53 I picked up at a show a few months ago and hadn't taken out yet. The trigger feels gre
  12. The brass is alright, but the ammo is pretty shaky for accuracy. We put 50 rounds of their 5.56 offering through a friend's AR today, and it didn't hold a very good group - ultramax reloads did better. Understandable, sort of. I shot the shit out of a Mosin today, when I got home pulled it out of the stock and remove the trigger parts (takes about 2 minutes) and took a shower with it. After the showering, I dried the bolt and sprayed it with WD-40, dried off the action and quickly oiled it, one patch down the bore and maybe one minute spent on the rest of the weapon, then reassembly.
  13. Mostly, but not entirely true. The M1 Carbine was the first military rifle issued exclusively with non-corrosively primed ammunition, because it was believed the gas system would be too difficult to maintain in the field.
  14. A lot of that surplus is dated on the headstamp. Most of the Polish stuff I got was '52.
  15. I've fired a few rounds of poorly stored .45 with a headstamp of 1928, and it went off just fine. I also bought a fair amount of that Polish 7.62x25 from the 50's - some of it was great, but a lot of it had cracked case necks.
  16. Which isotope? This amongst the best in all aspects. The corrosive aspect means sealed tins will last for at least a decade, and longer. Just clean after shooting. A hell of a lot longer, one hopes - considering most of this stuff is already 30-40 years old.
  17. It's more than okay. Mildly corrosive primer, extremely consistent loads. This is great ammo if you know how to clean a rifle.
  18. I got a small batch of this a while back, just a few boxes. The brass is fantastic.
  19. How do they work? If they can reduce capacity down to five (or can be made to do so without too much work) they'd be convenient for hunting.
  20. Don't take my answer as final, though - I'm not an expert, just positing based on what I know about how the whole system works. It is a different kind of force being exerted - someone else might know more or know better.
  21. Curiosity getting the better of me here - what are the AK blocks for, reduced capacity?
  22. M11/9 upper sold and shipped, already in the hands of SlabSides. Everything else is still available.
  23. Sure doesn't seem likely. The amount of force exerted by the recoil spring isn't shit compared to the impulse the bolt imparts to the locking surfaces when you fire.
