  1. Great idea, I am new to owning an "assualt" rilfe myself ( although I have owned guns, hunted for years and generally enjoy shooting ) I took my BIL shooting monday and let him shoot the converted Saiga. He loved it and plans to buy one now! I demonstrated to him proper handling of a firearm and talked about some scenarios where this rifle would be useful, Then we shot the Glock 22 and learned trigger control, drawing and shooting, "instinct" shooting w/in 15 yards (not using sights). He did not realize shooting a handgun could be that fun and useful. And I had just as much fun shar
  2. This is very true regarding street fights and even can apply to an Octagon fight, but I don't think "training" (meaning sparring with full protective gear) would lead to death or even as many injuries as there are associated with tackle football. One of the major things I learned the first week of MMA is to never underestimate some one, I saw guys that are fighting in the 155lb class that are animals and could destroy a much larger opponent in a street fight. If I had'nt seen them train I would have assumed "I could take em" and I would have been very wrong!! I am in better shape,
  3. I'll send you a friend invite Good Idea!! I play this game more than I like to admit! but damn its fun, twostokerm is my id I have been using the clan tag -MoA (sub Minute of Angle) although I suck with a sniper. now I go AK all the way! Add me: twostrokerm
  4. Quote Azrial "Do not overlook Boxing. There is no sport or Martial Art in the world that knows as much about throwing a punch as western boxing! At 25, I would assume that you are finished with your schooling. I boxed and wrestled while in Primary & High School as well as college. A great place to get started!" I just wanted to add, this is sound advice as many of the top UFC and WEC fighters have been College wrestlers or have boxed at a high level before competing in MMA. I have also found this to be true at my own Gym. This is important to you if you are having trouble
  5. I say go for a Knee or elbow to the face for a knock out! But seriously if you go into a fight looking to knock some one out and swinging for the fences, you may knock em out but chances are you will get your butt handed to you! I have trained in MMA for about 6 months now, I am no expert but I spent alot of time researching schools and techniques before joining a camp. The school I train at is top notch and has several Pro and ameture fighters that compete on a regular basis. Every one learns basics of BJJ before doing any Stand up (full contact sparring), This is good becu
  6. Thanks for your input, I think you are right about the .243 1) I already own it, 2) it was a gift from my dad, 3)It will probably do fine for tearing paper! Would a heavy barrel be a good idea? The only one I can find is a Shilen(SP?) at Midwayusa.com for $270.00 Is there a little cheaper option as far as barrels go? I think if I didnt already own this one I would check out the Savage in .308 for sure! From what I have been reading the .308 seems like a great round for this purpose. Thanks again Indy
  7. SGT Sajer, That thing looks mean as hell. love the Quad Rail too!
  8. [Command Arms Accessories has an Adjustable Cheek Piece and a Picatinny Rail Mount that will fit the Tapco T6 Collapsible Stock. I have been using this setup on my Saiga .308 and .223 conversions. I use the UTG 3rd Gen mount also. Sounds good I will look into that. Is this the same one you are using? http://www.opticsplanet.net/caa-adjustable-cheek-rest.html
  9. Good point my goal for this .223 was to be able to move quickly from target to target. The more I shoulder it and look through the scope the more I like it (for what it was intended to do),I think I just have to get used to it not being a hunting rifle. LOL Thanks this is my first Saiga and conversion, it was really neat to be able to do this myself. Next will be some Duracoat!
  10. I just purchased the 1x32 MP ( the one on the left) As far as a difference I think the one on the left is the newer model, but I have seen some post's on another forum that says the older model was better. I don't know, I really Like mine so far, its seems heavy and well constructed and the Reticle is very bright and clear. I also read a ton of reviews praising this sight, and as far as I can tell nothing in the price range comes close to the Trophy( I paid $100.00 for it). I got a really good deal on mine from Opticplanet.com While searching for an optic I ran across the 1x28 Trophy but
  11. I just got done converting, and I also put a scope on this morning and it seems WAY too high! Mount is the UTG 3rd Gen. Side mount , the scope has a built in mount that sticks down an extra .5 inch. When looking through the optic my chin (not cheek) is resting on the stock, it seems really high. (since its a .223 it may not be an issue) This is my first Rifle that doesnt have a "traditional" monte carlo style stock so it might just be me not being used to this stock. What do ya think?? Should I look into a cheek rest or the reciever mounted rail for the sight?
  12. I got the scope "on" today, I will have to re-adjust out at the range. This is a pretty cool Redot for the money ($90.00) I also moved the Foregrip a little closer to the mag Feels much better! Next step is Duracoat Colt Gray and Matte Black, gonna do a little two tone action.
  13. I did my "low Budget" conversion today! I love the way the gun looks and feels can't wait to go shoot it!! I am waiting on a Bushnell Trophy MP Redot. After looking at all these posts and seeing the finish on my gun after the conversion ( a little scratched up) I am trying to decide which color Duracoat to use or Maybe camo... I also have to figure out the spring placement for the Bho other than that it was a piece of cake, Thanks to the Knowledge on this forum and Dinzag's Conversion parts!
  14. Nevermind! I started drilling/Dremeling Vent holes in the stock forend today and I think it is gonna come out pretty sweet! So no need for the Handguards!
