  1. It's the single hook. Yep, used the axle sleeve. I didn't realize the hammer could shift do to the BHO not being in place. For a quick fix I think I'll just put the BHO back in and then sometime in the future I might get Dinzag's FCG...that would have made the conversion a lot easier! I have heard about the safety issue and it was one of the first things I checked when I finished the conversion...no problem there. Thanks for the info guys.
  2. I just finished my conversion tonight! I love the way my gun looks and feels now. Big thanks to Acer, Surly, and everyone else that helped me through some rough points. Here she is: NATO length stock is on its way from Dinzag...can't wait to put it on! A few things I had trouble with through this build were: not having the pg nut hole pre-cut so I had to cut it in myself which was a lot easier than I thought it would be, then my Tap Co hammer would not fit properly in place so I had to reuse the old one (no big deal but I'm not sure how this will affect my 922 compliance). 3. This is pretty cool. I live just north of Orlando near the Maitland exit of i-4 if you need a test firer Awesome idea btw.
  4. That's a good idea, I will have to get a parts set one of these days for such events or just to have some spare parts around. I have already cut the hole and the nut fits perfectly. When I get to working on it again, I will let ya'll know how everything lines up. Thanks for all the help. If it weren't for this forum there is no way I would have been able to do this conversion. And I'm sure I will have some questions when I get to putting in the new trigger group.
  5. Gunbroker...Price: One arm, one leg. But yeah, hard to find. Wish I could help ya out. Good Luck.
  6. That sale fell through so still looking...
  7. Thanks. Told him I'd take two of em off his hands.
  8. Thanks a lot for the help guys. I think I'm gonna dive in and cut the pg hole myself tomorrow. I also realized cross-con.com had the exact measurements needed (skipped over that part while reading ). Thanks again for the help! -Broke
  9. Hi, this is my first conversion and all was going fairly well until I took the bottom plate off and found there was no pistol grip hole! This is a S308 and from what I've read there SHOULD be one there right? Well, I guess guess I'm gonna have to cut one either way. Any tips on how to do it right? Thanks. -Broke
  10. I've got the two rivets from the rear and the front off. Thanks. But now there are two spot welds in the middle, I know on the tutorial online and the youtube videos there is a third rivet there, but for me there is only two spot welds. It would probably be helpful to point out I'm working on a S308. Anything else you can add would be great. Thanks -Broke
  11. I am having trouble getting the base plate off. After a lot of drilling I was able to get the rear portion off however part of the rivet is still in the receiver. I am afraid to try to punch it out too hard and distort the receiver. And also, there are two spot welds under where the trigger guard used to be. Is it possible to "pop" the base plate free or should I drill into them a little? I'm not trying to be a pain here, I just really don't want to ruin my gun. Thanks. -Broke
  12. Never mind....Just got it. Needed to remove the trigger and after that it was pretty easy to just wiggle out the second pin. Thanks again Acer.
  13. Thanks Acer, I got the shepherds hook out and the first pin came out with ease. Now the second one is still in there tight. I think this is because it is still under a lot of pressure from the hammer and spring. I am afraid if I tap it out that the hammer and spring will fly out. Do I need to remove the spring first or should I just tap out the second pin and hold onto the hammer? Thanks. -Broke
  14. Hi, this is my first conversion and I have the rifle apart but my question is while trying to remove the old trigger group, the two pins holding it in will not slide out. Is there something holding the pins in? And if so, how do I remove whatever is holding it in. This is a S308 so there should only be those two pins to remove correct? Any info would be a great help. Thanks. -Broke
  15. I'll take two factory mags if you'll sell them for the same price shipped. PM sent.
  16. Will you sell the FBMG mags separate at a good price, don't have any and been looking for some. Thanks.
  17. I had the same problem when I first took my gun apart. It is really easy tho once you get the hang of it. The only thing I can say that helped me was pushing the hammer down a little with my left hand while pushing and guiding the bolt down into it; this made putting the gun back together a snap! I hope this solves your problem but there are others on here that know a lot more than I do that can help you out if this doesn't work.
  18. I'm not sure what the twist rate is but i have read on here somewhere the easiest way to find out is to just put a piece of tape at the end of your cleaning rod like a flag, then run it down your barrel measure the length it took for your cleaning rod to make one rotation and there ya go. Hope this helps.
  19. Just a question, why aren't you even considering Sigs? I have a 229 and love it! Never had a problem with it and its comfortable to shoot. My dad carries one on the job and he loves them too. I agree with you on the fact that I hate Glocks, too many people have misfires with them and I hate the fact that they have a plastic frame . On the other hand, most of the other pistols mentioned are very nice as well. Oh well, at the end of the day the most important thing is personal taste. Let us know what you decide on.
  20. I'm looking for some 308 FBMG 20 rounders. I know they're hard to come by but I've been dieing to get my hands on some. Thanks.
  21. Looks kinda like a plr-16. Can't really think what I'd use it for except maybe plinking or gettin oooohs and aaaaahs at the range. Still wouldn't mind having one tho.
  22. I've called them this week and not only did they pick up but they said they should have more mags ready in a couple of weeks. Vague yes, but still promising. Just hoping they get em out before that commie Obama gets into office and the prices go through the roof or worse, get banned.
  23. Could this guy be removed? I mean seriously shipped outta the country somewhere?

  24. They told you they had 3 left? I must have talked to the wrong person, I called earlier this week and they said they were out but would have more in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to try them out....only have 2 sure fire mags right now. Haven't had any trouble with them, but still can't wait to tryout the fbmg's.
  25. Yea, I was at the gun show in Orange County a few weeks ago and got a s308 for $520 out the door...with other guys trying to sell them for $550-$600, I considered myself lucky.
