Ok, so day two range report...... and it's good!!!!! It ran 100% today (minus a mag failure which I'll talk about later). Here is the ammo I tried. started w/ the 3" birdshot - no problem Winchester 2 3/4" buck - no problem Olin 2 3/4" "military" buck - no problem Dupleks Dupo 28 2 3/4" expanding slugs - no problem Nobel Sport 2 3/4" buckshot - no problem and finally back to the Centurion 2 3/4" "ball" - no problem maybe it's "broken in" now? I started w/ what i thought was the strongest ammo and worked my way down to the one that didn't work last time. Now mag failure -

awesome info! thank you for the insight and the lower recoil front sping is already in the mail and on the way! the thing will be a hoot. I'm a little more of a collector than shooter, but I want it to run correctly when i do decide to go tear some stuff up -
Why isn't it interchangeable with the Vepr 12? I don't understand why it wouldn't be. The mag catch on the magazine is slightly different. You could make a Vepr 12 mag work in the S12 magwell, but probably not the otherway around. S12 has the little notch on the back

w/ parts be prepared to double the original purchase price of the shotgun. I'll put a bunch more rounds through it and see if it "breaks in" But, i did order the different spring from Carolina Shooters Supply ... hell it's only $6 and could make this thing run like a champ. -

Thanks for the quick reply. Thats what I plan on trying first. But, isn't 1400fps getting up there for a 2 3/4" load anyway? -
here's my conversion that Mario at POHF did for me. Full conversion, pistolgrip plate, S12 trigger guard, Ak100 series folder w/ S12 recoil pad AND shortened the barrel to the propper 430mm length (you probably can guess the problem by now) here she is: Tested it today shooting these: 2 3/4" 1400fps round ball Recoil was pretty mild and manageable. BUT, the gun failed to cycle semi-auto (it cycled as it should only one time out of 50 rds) Otherwise it would half eject/crunch the spent round, requiring me to hand cycle the shotgun. So............ does thi

very nice! I'm still waiting on mine.... Legion USA is looking pretty amatuer to me right now. Took two weeks to ship the shotgun after placing the order, then DROPPED IT OFF AT A UPS STORE TO SHIP IT! ha... they dont even have UPS pick-up establised yet?!! I wish we had someone from russia on here to knock the gas block off theirs to see how many holes they are running there. I'm just curiuos if they were manufactured differently for our market VS. military market
-
From Legion USA directly, they are the only place that has a non-converted one in stock. Atlantic has the "converted" one instock but that conversion is lacking in my opinion...

^^^ LOL at that one guys. Mine shipped today, so I hope to get some pics/video etc up of different rounds being fired soon.

Just got an update. The correct fax number for legion is the one listed above. They are all at shot and will ship anything ordered this week on Monday

I think all we have to go by is images. It's the same gas system as the "military" version as well as the Vepr 12. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/20380-new-model-saigas/ I have read two things, a shorter spring and puck (shortened by one "band/groove") will allow cheap bird shot. And others claim it runs 28g shells no problem. But, in reality, I dont think this gun was intended to shoot much birdshot. We will just have to fiddle w/ it so we can shoot cheap wally world ammo.

thats the weird thing. FL is what the import stamps say on the side of the guns. The Boston MA # hasn't ever worked for me. the two real emails I have for them are: alex@legionusainc.com jacob@legionusainc.com

I dug through my old emails from alex from legion USA and in his signature was this fax # 305-436-3753 which is a FL area code atleast.. there 888 # goes no where and says the voicebox is full then disconnects

The fat barrel under the grip must be preventing from using the "standard" ak style retainer lever. Wonder of the Vepr's are different? In regards to adjustability, I have read several reviews on the Vepr 12 that ran 24g target load birdshot fine. One guy had problems using paper shells (they make those still???) 28g loads worked fine too. I'm anxious to get mine.. Still need that damn fax # for legion
