  1. I was actually talking about any of the switches. They're all the same once the actuator panel is removed. If you're talking about the problematic Kobra on-off *knob*, you can get a replacement from Kalinka: http://http://kalinkaoptics.com/kobra-spare-parts-kit.html Larry
  2. Well finally found a switch for the broken on in my Kobra (after only a year): The Omron D2F-01 looks to be a direct replacement for the switches in the Kobra. It's about 0.020 thicker and the mounting holes are a little bigger, but otherwise it's the same. 1) Remove the battery 2) Remove the seven screws out of the bottom plate. 3) The bottom plate is sealed with a tar-like black sealant that would soften with a little heat. It seems like the only way to get it off is to drill at least one small hole at the edge of the plate and then apply heat and try to ease it off with a den

  5. I had a EKP-8-02. Given the current Kobra prices, I'm not sure I could recommend one. I am very please with the PK01-V. Larry
  6. Finally got a chance to sight-in my PK01-V this weekend . . . WOW! Cowitness at 100 yards, great cheek weld, clear a a bell, and more accurate that I remember my Kobra (rip). Also, incredible battery life: I accidentally left the battery on for about two weeks and it was still going when I got to the range! My only regret is that I didn't by two at the sale price. Larry
  7. There's a used Kobra on Gunbroker right now for $300. Larry
  8. I may have some Bulgarian floorplates available in a few weeks. Contact me then if you still need them. Larry
  9. OK, I finally finished my project . . . as expected the IZ-340 was easy to convert and beautiful. Here are the photos:
  10. Eastwave has Kobras for $419, but their shipping cost is awful. Kalinka has them for $449, but they will ship for around $12. Too bad you just missed Kalinka's 15% off sale which would have taken about $65 off their price . . . still too rich for my likes though. Perhaps you can call them and ask "what happened to your 15% of sale?", maybe they will still give you the sale price. Sights should not present any 922® concerns. Larry
  11. Here's my initial post from my recent thread on the subject: http://forum.saiga-1...-a-replacement/ I went with the PK01-V based on what TX-Zen posted here as well as on his web site. Primarily because of the ability to co-witness at 100 yards. Kalinka was having a 15% off sale, which brought the PK-01-V down to around $250! (Plus Kalinka's shipping was really reasonable a $12 via USPS.) Larry PS: Here's a link to TX-Zen's web site: http://russianoptics.net/reddot.html
  12. I ordered the PK01-V from Kalinka early Friday morning . . . it arrived Monday. Great service, great optic, and a great price during the Kalinka 15% off sale. Larry
  13. I went with the PK01-V based on what you posted here as well as on your web site. Primarily because of the ability to co-witness at 100 yards you mention on your web site. Kalinka is having a 15% off sale till Sunday, which brought the PK-01-V down to around $250! (Plus Kalinka's shipping was really reasonable a $12 via USPS.) If I could have got another Kobra for around $350, I would have purchased another one of those instead. But even at the sale price, it was still around $390. Larry PS: I haven't given up trying to repair my Kobra, but I need to find another dead one I ca
  14. WTB: Kobra Collimator Sight -- Working or not working from a private seller. Contact via PM or email. Larry
  15. My Kobra EKP-8-02 died and I need help deciding on another collimator sight. My criteria is that the sight be: Around $200, authentic Com block, and sit low and over the bore. Here's my observations on the current crop of Com block sights: 1) Another Kobra. The current price is 3x what I paid back in 2008. Too pricey. 2) Rakurs, PK-AS, etc. Sit too high for my taste. Also, too pricey. 3) PK-01. Kind of pricey at about $300 (2x what I paid in 2008). The PK01-VS and PK01-V versions sit low and over the bore and I especially like the fact that these two versions co-witness at 100

  18. I removed the plunger and spun the rifle on my lathe: The plunger drops out the back of the FSB. Clamped the thread protector in the chuck and supported the rear trunnion in the tailstock (wrapped it with duct tape to protect it). I used a 3/32" cutoff blade to cut the rear or the thread protector loose, then finished with a dremel. Looks pretty darn good. Larry PS: Got the whole thing converted in about 6 hours, start to finish.
  19. What's the best way to get the thread protector off an IZ-340? thanks, Larry
  20. For counting purposes, it counts as two parts . . . seach for the ATF letter I posted here on the subject a number of years ago. Larry
  21. A little off topic, but not too much: I'm building up a PSL kit which is missing the recoil spring assembly, and it turns out they're really hard to come by. I'm thinking I might be able to use one from a Saiga. The PSL recoil spring assembly is approximately 14 7/8" end to end. The one from my S-308 is only 13-1/8" long. Can someone please post the lengths for the spring assemblies in S-12 and S-100 . . . thanks in advance, Larry
  22. I've seen WASR's that way as well. But as I stated earlier, I was always told they had the required number of US-made parts. I don't know enough about the Vz58 to comment. I've never seen a PSL that was sold with a separate PG from the importer / manufacturer. I have seen where individuals have done this. Larry
