  1. Sounds like you're doing everything right. I got a bore snake for cleaning my Mosins. Windex on the first section, a long dry patch, some CLP on the rear and it's good to go. Don't forget to wipe off the bolt face with the same chemicals. I like to decock the bolt and wipe the end of the firing pin off too, just to be sure. That Bulgarian stuff is most likely steel case with a copper wash. Put a magnet on it, that would pretty much tell you what it's made out of. If it's steel, reloading isn't really worth the time. It's berdan primed, so you can prime it easily, and steel cases are
  2. http://www.centerfiresystems.com/replaceme...partstkdra.aspx I got a Centerfire mailer the other day and they had those listed in there. They also have the Dragunov style Saiga buttstockes available. Why not go that route?
  3. Hey Perk, is the rifle shown a PSL? If so does this furniture fit on a Saiga? Yeah, the rifle shown in that ad is a PSL. I have no idea if that furniture will fit on a Saiga though. I have a PSL but no Saiga to compare it to, sorry. I can tell you that the back of the receiver, looking at the gun in profile, is shaped like an arch. It is not shaped like a normal AK. The front handguards fit on like a normal AK, but I think they are different sizes (lenghs, and possibly barrel diameter). I can try and take some pictures of my PSL furniture up close tomorrow for you, if you'd like.
  4. Not sure about Dragunov furniture, but there is a guy who sells polymer PSL furniture on GB that you may be able to modify. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=127383657 I'll keep an eye out for Dragunov furniture though.
  5. I'm going to ask a (maybe) stupid question, so stay with me here. I've never handled a Galil. Is the fitting on the front of the handguards a clamp? Or do Galils have handguard retainers like AK's? I am doing a Galil-ish conversion on a Norinco Hunter. That wood furniture would look absoulutely sexy on it. I see it has the retaining plate on the back that keeps it in place against the receiver, something I would had to have made if I used the normal Tapco Saigia Galil style handguards. The wood is awesome, and saves me a few steps, but only if it clamps onto the barrel. So yea
  6. More great dealings with Norty. Fast to answer PM's, fast to ship. Great guy to buy from.
  7. So if I were to attach this to my rifle with a buttstock, it would just flop around? It would not lock open or closed?
  8. Santa came prematurely and a good friend of mine bought the game for me. Looks like I'll be able to enjoy my unemployment properly now.
  9. The demo was fun. As soon as I can buy the game I will try to join some Saiga group games. I got (surprise) laid off on Monday though, so zombies got bumped off my priority list for the time being.
  10. I guess it's time to make a Saiga Forums Official Online Zombie Control Squad...
  11. I've been playing the demo since it went public. What a great game, it's going to make me take a break from Day of Defeat: Source though. My Steam name is Perkasie Pride, hit me up if I am online and I will gladly die over and over again in expert mode. BTW, the game is brilliant. I wish the zombies didn't stand around until you bump into them. I swear, I saw one taking a knee, smoking a cigarette. I had to tap him on the shoulder and remind him that he was supposed to be gnashing his teeth at me. That's why they make updates though.
  12. I'll trade you a Mosin Nagant with a scope on it Sounds like a nice gun though, good luck selling it.
  13. I finally got to the range today. I agree with your comment on the peep sight, it's really terrible. I want to make my own tangent sight for it, and I really want a tritium/white post for the front. The receiver cover isn't too bad to get off on mine, it seems to fit really well. I've been going back and forth, whether or not to convert it to a pistol grip layout or not. I am going to go for it, and make my own folding buttstock. I am going to get an ACE buttstock folding mechanism and make a skeleton stock for it. Pics will come when I am done.
  14. No worries, I wasn't actually considering riding my motorcycle with a rifle strapped to my back. I'd just car-jack someone and take their car. That's a joke, by the way...
  15. It's a Norinco. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. My car needs tires, an allignment, and an inspection, so I can't drive to the range. I spent my repair money on the rifle. It's a vicious cycle. Are there any laws about strapping it to my back and riding my Yamaha up to the range?
  16. You can buy them new here: http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/index.p...amp;cPath=25_37 They look like they are a contributor, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting that.
  17. That's the rifle in question, by the way. Sorry it's not a Saiga. I looked around for one, but this was local and the price was right. I would still love to get a .308 Saiga, if anyone is interested in a partial trade on a Mossberg shotgun... I picked this up last night for $300. The current trigger arrangement is pretty weird, with the way it's laid back like that, but it's actually pretty comfortable with that stock on it. It's kind of like a mini BAR. Has a 20'' chrome lined barrel, takes standard AK mags, and looks like it's hardly been shot. The only thing I don't really like a
  18. Understood, thanks for making it clear. I don't know if I'll wind up making any parts for it now, since my compliance parts count is so low. I had considered making my own folding stock, since this won't accept normal AK stocks. I also thought about making my own handguard for it, since it uses a weird handguard. That is really depending on what I do with the stock at this point though. Like I said, FCG and a USA pistol grip takes care of 922r compliance for me.
  19. Thanks for the help guys. You've got a great forum going here.
  20. Hello, I don't know if this question has been asked before, but I wanted to give it a shot. I am planning on doing some conversion work on a Norinco Hunter I just bought, and I was wondering if parts I make myself are 922r compliant. I think my gun only counts for 15 parts, since it does not have any muzzle attachments. I was going to buy the Tapco FCG, which counts as 3 parts, a US made pistol grip, and hopefully make my own buttstock. Would a buttstock I make myself (in the US of course) count towards my parts count? Thanks for any help. EDIT: Looks like I may not have to worry
  21. I am looking for a Saiga .308. I would prefer one that is unmodified, but will consider any candidates. I have a Mossberg 500Mils I'd like to trade. I am putting a value of $400 on it, so if you think your rifle is worth more, I will make the deal worthwhile. The Mossberg has about 250 rounds through it, it's always dead reliable. Parkerized finish, 5rd magazine (extensions are available). Comes with the 20'' combat barrel, and a 28'' accu-choke barrel with several interchangeable chokes. It has a USA serial number, and is part of a series of 5000 they ran. It is identical to a mili
