  1. I figured I'd see if I could sneak this one in, maybe get it stickied! Everyone who has a 5.45x39, show it off :-D I already have in the other thread, but I'll post it again here just for the sake of this thread : EDIT : I just got on the spare Saiga furniture I had from the first one that I painted green. Looks great :-D Now let's see your beast! EDIT : Please try to stay on-topic, this is the PICTURES THREAD NOT the chit-chat thread. Thanks.
  2. It's gonna be getting a Tapco OD stock, OD SAW pistol grip and OD Galil handguard, as well as the feed ramp for 30 rounders Apparently, it has the push-button recoil spring retainer like the .308s for some reason O_o post-apocalyptic, you can officially get a boner, it has dimples :-P
  3. Looks great :-D I plan on installing the same furniture (Tapco stock and SAW pistol grip) but mine will be Olive Drab. I'm an NYer, so I need to hunt down all the East German and steel Polish Tantal mags I can find so I don't have to be stuck with the factory 10 rounder, heh.
  4. Well, with all due respect to Max, hurry the eff up! :-P
  5. My 5.45x39 is on the way and I too am now wondering where the 5.45x39 Saiga forum is! :-P
  6. Screw the drums, they're expensive as hell. I planned on getting two 40 rounders to clamp together way before I clamped these 30 rounders together, so I certainly will get some 40 rounders.
  7. Unclamped the mags and painted them, I'm gonna clamp my East German and Polish mag because they have nice finishes. I clamped the Romanians because they had really worn finishes and my buddy had a bunch of good-quality metal paint.
  8. Well, I fixed 'er up and now it looks much better, but still ghetto : Wrapped black duct tape around 'em with wood in the middle, then black masking tape in the middle to secure the wood even more, then wrapped with the black masking tape to cover the glare of the duct tape, which is what is providing most of the strength. It may look stupid, but it's rock solid and would be reliable in adverse weather.
  9. Yet you started a thread asking everyones opinion. Look, do what you want but if you rig up stuff like that and ask for opinions you can expect a "mixed" review. FYI he's talking about the bolt on handle. It's 22 bucks. I didn't know that there was another one until you mentioned it :-D Seems like a much better price and a nice set-up. I'd be more open to the weld-on handle if I had a spare bolt carrier. Having the weld fail would somehow would suck Yeah, I expected people to bash this, and I don't care if they do I've responded to several, more well thought-out criti

  11. Don't be the guy who creates a thread, asks everyone's opinion about something and then gets butt-hurt over the responses. Apparently you have trouble reading, dude, I haven't been "butt-hurt" at all. I responded to a few posts, in a respectful manner, and that's about it. Not giving a damn about other's opinions isn't being butt-hurt, it's just that I merely don't care if some snooty guy thinks that using tape and cardboard to make something like this is somehow "below them" or something. Yeah, there is no way in Hell I'm paying $45 for a Galil-style charging handle.
  12. It's supposed to be like that, the one on the right makes it a PITA to charge. What people do for silliness with their guns = serious business. Get a clue, dude. I shoot on private land and wanted to do this basically for the hell of it. Why did you assume I had any such intentions? You want to go up against a Russian-made semi-automatic AK that has 60 rounds at the ready and can be reloaded much faster than you can swap your mag out? Sounds like a bad plan to me. Why would you be shooting at me anyway?? Maybe I misunderstand your post. Anyway, I already said
  13. Haha, good idea. Yeah, this is just the concept, but the final version will have better tape and a piece of wood in-between the mags instead of cardboard.
  14. Haha, yeah, screw that. I didn't have any duct tape or gorilla tape, but this box tape seems to be sufficient.
  15. Well, I was bored and I was complaining how the mag clamps are $12. Well, my buddy decided we should just go the ghetto / African / Middle Eastern insurgent route and do this : THE BOLT WAS NOT IN THE CARRIER FOR THESE PICS THE BOLT WAS NOT IN THE CARRIER FOR THESE PICS Win or fail? :-P EDIT : added bonus, we were also bored and discovered the Spetsnaz reload Yes, that is me That'll ding up your HG, so if you're a cry-baby about your rifle having nicks in it, don't do that ;-P
  16. I just nabbed a Yugo 59/66 SKS for my b-day the other day, went and test-fired it with 100 rounds. Except for two times, it failed on every 8th shot, the 9th and 10th cartridges would jam up! One would get loose or whatever and jam it up while the other one chambered! I had to take it back so the on-site gunsmith can repair it, for free, obviously. I don't blame them for it not working right, it's not like they can test all the guns they get in, especially used ones. I took a few pics before it went back.
  17. The bullpups have crappy trigger pulls and you're messing with the inherent reliability of the system by adding a stupid cable to the old trigger. WASR-10s are alright, but they can have problems, plus they are Romanian... The Saiga can be customized and is Russian-made and generally is of better quality than the WASR-10s.
  18. NYer here, I recommend going with the pistol grip as well.

    922

Despite what some people think, 922r only applies to manufacture, not possession or sale.
  20. I don't mind the factory handguard, but I was sick of smelling burning plastic every time I shot, so I got the Tapco Galil HG. Seems alright so far. EDIT : quick note. I think a lot of the people who had a problem with it coming loose really just didn't tighten it enough. Seriously, you gotta give it some oomph :-P
  21. Wrong, 922® only makes it a violation to manufacture, not to sell or possess.
  22. Did you even read my post? I said AK 10 rounders are $9 apiece...
  23. Back for a bit of an update : Next plan is to nab a ribbed top cover (AKA dust cover) and a surplus AK bolt carrier. I'll set the Saiga carrier aside as a spare, then with the surplus one, I plan on blasting off the black finish, polishing it up and giving it a nice high-temp clear-coat. I'm also gonna replace the piston with a US-made one, just for practice.
  24. I just put it on today, I like it. Was a real easy install. We'll see how it holds up.
  25. Try adding a bullet guide, standard AK 10 round mags are like, $9 apiece ;-P
