  1. I used Black Gloss gun kote and flat black gun kote........i simply mixed a small portion of the flat with the gloss (1/6th) and shook it up real good in my airbrush bottle and sprayed it on..........i did not aluminum oxide blast the entire receiver ....i simply spot blasted with aluminum oxide the areas where i had welded and grinded on to give it the correct texture match of the rest of the receiver for the gun kote.
  2. I want to thank you Bob for answering all my questions about cutting the rear receiver angle before i went ahead and did the modifications......You guys at TROMIX are good people.
  3. I TIG welded mine with ER70S2 1/16" dia. welding rod............as the member above said just general purpose steel welding rod. Make sure you get good penetration when you weld in the back plate....or the weld may crack.
  4. here's is mine (NOT a TROMIX) but i copied the technique from a real Tromix it ain't rocket science (i am assuming you are experienced with TIG welding) but the trigger guard is very thin and easy to burn through especially in the area near the magazine release paddle. I simply made sure i got decent penetration in 2 spots in the front and just ran a small bead in the rear.....i did do a little grinding to the welds in front near the mag release to make it appear as if the trigger guard "grew" there on its own BTW ..It was easier for me to use a thin cup to weld it on rather than
  5. The shells i was using were 1-1/2 oz. Winchester no.8 100 rd. value packs.......i went to a bass pro shop today and bought some Remington ammo to try.
  6. I tried to shoot my Saiga 12 today with wally world no. 8 100 rd. value packs and it would not eject at all......the strange part is that two weeks ago i was shooting Wally world no. 7-1/2 100 rd value packs and it functioned flawlessly..........is there a significant difference between these two ? i moved the gas setting to the no 2 setting and it made the bolt go back a little farther but not enough to eject. the only real difference was the weather conditions...two weeks ago when the gun was functioning it was 40 degrees...today it was 85 degrees...could this be the culprit? any
  7. Here's how i did mine : I installed my safety first, then i put the BHO spring in the receiver with the short leg side of the spring facing back towards the butt stock....i then put the BHO in to the slot and use a ice pick to pull the short leg of the spring over the BHO tab..........now i push the loop of the spring down and stick a trigger pin through it from the right side of the receiver.....then go ahead and install your trigger & sear assy push the trigger pin through the left side and carefully put pressure on the trigger pin that is installed from the right side while at the s
  8. Interested to know as well. that video Mike posted with the SAIGA 12 and his Levis Stratus mag pouch made me WANT a mag well BADDD
  9. I just did a TROMIX style folder conversion to my first SAIGA-12 and am very happy with it....if i had unlimited $$ i would want to buy another SAIGA 12 and build a very detailed VEPR-12 clone........but even having the money probably would not help in actually FINDING the parts nessasary for this conversion for sale anywhere.
  10. That looks great Tony.......can i order these directly from your company?
  11. Maybe a dumb question ...but would a SAIGA-12 with a extended mag well eliminate this problem with the AGP mags and Magnum loads?
  12. I saw one in the Saiga-12 photo thread and they look cool.
  13. I just finished converting a SAIGA-12 into a TROMIX style folder with a SAW pistol grip and have assembled it for functioning testing before i refinish the receiver..i am noticing that the BHO tab is in a area that might make it painful on my shooting finger (especially when firing 3" buck)......have any of you changed the shape of the tab or shortened it to make it less likely to be in the way ?
