  1. well it's 3mm if anyone was wondering it's too bad the site doesn't support thread title editing, that sure is an embarrassing typo...
  2. Anyone know off-hand what the diameter of the gas block pins is on a saiga 308? Thanks.
  3. a thousand times yes csspecs - your mags are the cat's ass, if they were lighter they would be perfect also I vote for a flatter-take down button and no-rib floorplate - flush if that's feasible no opinion on the stampings
  4. In my gun surefires did the exact same thing as the uintas did. Only csspecs and OEM work for me.
  5. You know come to think of it all my malfs were when feeding from the left side of the mag as well. Interesting. BTW I had my 3rd lug refinished by RAA a couple years back. My opinion based off my own experiences and others' is that Tombs is correct and the spring is indeed too weak. ETA: I bet that the 3rd lug (even when properly finished) is bumping the rounds down in the mag when recoiling and that little bit of extra distance to overcome is too much for the mag spring.
  6. I tried reversing the spring front-to-back to match the orientation of the OEM Russians but it malfed the same way regardless.
  7. Well my Uinta mag doesn't work at all with South African. Bullet tips lodging against the chamber face below the opening. Hand cycles just fine but it's a single shot at the range.
  8. I have two Russian mags, they are both oriented as you described.
  9. Just got my unita mag today. Hand cycles fine. When I opened it up, I noticed that the spring is installed reversed front to back relative to the Russian OEM mag. Is this normal? ETA I answered my earlier question - the follower is exactly the same as the Russian so capacity is 8 rounds when in the OEM mag body
  10. When installing the uinta follower in a factory mag, is the capacity 8 or 10 rounds?
  11. Fitting the rear trunnion is really not a big deal. Here are some good fliks of the required cutouts I found on AK Files. Looks like homeboy missed his mark a bit here, don't let it discourage you. Now, you may be right about the front catch needing to be exactly located; however, I get the feeling that there's some slop in the design. I really don't know if it could be made to work with that 308 front trunnion as is, maybe someone else can chime in.
  12. If you're really about it, drill the receiver for the Bulgarian side folder trunnion and put on one of these: It's the only side folder I would want to use with 308. http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16849&cat=283&page=3 Sadly, k-var is out of stock atm. I think you would have to install the front catch lower than normal somehow due to the bulk of the 308 front trunnion.
  13. Wouldn't the disconnector just hold the hammer at cock when doing that? Also, slightly off topic, I've always been told to always avoid dry firing shotguns but that it was ok to dry fire AKs. Where does that leave the S12?
