  1. ATF is also a great penetrating oil, mix it 50-50 with Acetone. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200247 stuck valves? lifters? ATF... I'm not saying its a perfect swap out, ATF has been proven not to withstand long term use mixed in with motor oil, whereas Marvel will, Nor would I run a transmission completely with MMO, but for many practical applications they are interchangeable with marginal at best differences. To keep on subject! ATF in use cleaning guns... Ed's Red bore cleaner... http://handloads.com/articles/default.asp?id=9
  2. Filing for multiple states and with so many unknowns in potential work history through the year I prefer to let them take it and struggle, but know I'm covered at the end of the year. The alternative could be a nasty hit during a dry period. Its not a great setup, but I'm making sure I have a paddle so to speak. Once the return comes my way most of it won't be going toward gun stuff but there are a few parts I haven't picked up that would finish a few projects. Need to get some more paint done too...
  3. Its essentially ATF, and like ATF its full of conditioners that help keep things clean. I don't use it on my firearms however. Generally stick to CLP and white lithium grease, use depends on where in the firearm and what firearm it is.
  4. Glad your happy with your purchase... Now you need to post pics.
  5. Biggest difference in the S-12 receivers is that they are 1.5mm thick. I know AK-builder.com carries them for a standard AK layout.
  6. It doesn't take a experienced rider to understand the simplicity that is... "they only go as fast as you twist the throttle" There is nothing noble about getting a under powered bike to reign in ignorance that transcends age. I've ridden bikes that wanted to kill you, to sluggish dogs, lightweight street fighters, to overburdened cruisers... The riders mentality is what keeps anyone in check. Don't believe me? Have drunken fun on a mini bike. Eventually you'll crash, maybe you'll get hurt. Even small street bikes dwarf mini bike power numbers, and now rather than grass, your on
  7. Looking back on the last year its been a roller coaster, but its been a roller coaster of almost constant work. Sitting down with a drink at the end of the year I feel beat up. Getting treated like a disposable resource from contractor to contractor while chasing money hasn't been kind. That being said I've managed to lump away some major expenses in stride while still gathering parts for a bike build. I can't say I haven't benefited. I was able to have a new chimney put up, bought new furniture, 12 face cord of wood for those northern winters, all while keeping bills under wraps, and deal
  8. Get whatever one is in best condition unless you enjoy wrenching on it nearly as much as riding, and even if that is the case its good to have access to one that's reliable for when the wrenching pisses you off. Your in a Used market, treat it like any other purchase and go for the best deal.
  9. the hits keep rolling with the sith army knife....
  10. I bought onion rolls to go with the venison burgers I was making... but that's just me.
  11. Slant brakes are light and effective. Had very good luck with the Jtac47 brake on a SKS bullpup. That combo made for a gun with no perceptive muzzle rise. The Left Coast Comp I got from Juggs worked great on a mosin build for a friend.

  13. Fury 3? shit was 2 even out that long? if they keep it up they might actually get all of the bugs worked out.
  14. Giving it a bump out of the grave rather than make a new one! Happy thanksgiving everyone!
  15. Yep, we can't have any fun anymore. Nice SLR stock.
  16. Cars don't go in the garage... Bikes do. Four wheeled vehicles are kept outside. I need the shop space. Right now its a wreck. I still have the smoker project on the ground a yamaha on the lift, and more of other peoples bikes in there than my own. When clean it looked something like this... Key features in mine are a large cluttered workbench, Lots of toolboxes full of tools, can't have enough of these... 12 ton hydraulic press, bench grinder, bench buffing wheel, small drill press, 80 Gal air compressor, Mig and stick welders, oxy acetaline setup, pneumatic bike lift, Fridge for cold bever
  17. Just say a silent prayer to those fighting the BS, and trying to keep it from spreading.
  18. I'll never understand why people worry about a welded part. If you did it properly with the right rod it should be stronger than the parent metal.
  19. People have reported back that filling the buttstock with foam made it feel less cheap. Might be something to do while your tearing it down.
