  1. Have you had any more issues with the extractor? I have had mine ripped apart, shell remaining in the chamber.. thx

  2. I had heard that the Galil handguard has the potential to come loose during recoil. I put a small clamp in front of it and tightened it so the retaining piece won't loosen. I will paint it black and put it back on so it won't be so noticable. Handlebar Handlebar, What's the silver gizmo around the barrel in front of the Galil handguard?
  3. I ordered 200 rounds from The Armory for that same price. They said they sold 1.2 million rounds in 48 hours. The ammo is flying off the shelves since Pres. HopeandChange took office. I am now stock piling the little that I can for both my handguns and my rifles. I think I will have enough to ward off an unexpected visit in the night. I am really starting to worry about the fate of the good old US of A. attached is a picture of my Saiga. handlebar aka Mike
  4. I see it for $74/200 rounds. It sounds like a good deal, but is the ammo okay. I don't see too much about it on this forum. Handlebar aka Mike
  5. I recently had what may have been my .223 firing out of battery. It pulled the back 1/3 of the casing apart leaving the rest in the barrel. I did not lose my dust cover and apparently did not even know this had happened until it would not feed the next round. Do you think I had a battery issue or was the brass just weak, and yes I was firing reloads, frangible 45gn. What do you all think. I included pictures in my other post two days ago in my "Heres my .223" post.***Sorry, pictures will follow of the blown case when I get home from work.***
  6. Here are two pictures of my .233. I put on a Tapco T6 stock and the Tapco Galil handguard. The scope mount is from Cheaper than Dirt and the Red Dot is a True Glo. The mag is a Sure Fire 30 round and I have a couple 10 rounders. I do believe I am compliant. Shot it yesterday but only at 25 yards. Off hand (no bench rest) it shot less than 2". Both my son and I shot it and it performed equally as well for both. He is actually a better shot than I am. Some thing funny happened during our outing. A frangible round ruptured about 1/3 of the way up from the rim. The rest of the brass sta
  7. Thanks for the reply, however would that also mean that the recoil spring is heavier to have handled the recoil from the larger cartriges? If this is the case, will my friend's .223 have FTEject because of it? Is there a difference between recoil springs, I would think so? handlebar aka Mike
  8. It is definitely a .223. I field stripped it myself. Maybe they put the wrong recoil spring guide in. What is it's function in the .308? I will try to get pics.
  9. It is neither. It is a U shaped piece of metal that sits in front of the part that slides into the receiver. It is pinned in and it swings freely.
  10. A friend of mine just bought a .223 (today at a gun show) and it has a part that mine does not have. Attached to the recoil spring guide, where it slides into the receiver hangs a stirrup like part. Mine does not have it nor do any of the pictures that I see of conversions. What is this part and what does it do? Also, his safety locks up all the way when cocked or not cocked. Mine only locks up when it is cocked. When it is not cocked, it only goes up about 2/3 or the way. Is that normal too? handlebar aka Mike
  11. Bought one about a month ago from Gilberts Guns for $359. I have seen them since, but the price keeps going up. I am lucky I got one when I did. Keep doing internet searches and you may get lucky.
  12. I want the parts b/c I have put on a Tapco Intrafuse stock with pistol grip. I already have a Tapco handguard of the Galil style, and Surefire Mags (30 rounders). That brings compliance parts to 9. Should I use the original mag, it goes back up to 11 and then non-compliance. That is why I would like to swap mag parts-to stay at 9. You only need the us parts count if your gonna use standard capacity mags, or doing a conversion.
  13. I have two US mags and am compliant to 9 parts. If I change the follower and base I will still be at 10 parts and have the extra mag. Can I get a follower and base plate anywhere? Mike
  14. I have the original Russian 10 rounder that came with my Saiga .223. Where can I get the follower, spring and base plate so I will have more compliance parts? I have looked, but obviously in the wrong places. Handlebar
