  1. I was thinking would be nice to have a Yogi Thumper. The .50 Beowolf would hit hard, I'm not sure it would give enough velocity for penetration on papa bear for through and through.
  2. Some of the US made factory loaded 7.63x39mm ammo used .308 diameter bullets that gave poor accuracy. Doesn't the 303 Britt use .311 diameter bulletts? I was thinking that they can be used for 7.62x39mm subsonic loads. Wonder if that would help bullet selection for your project.....???????
  3. I'd like to take a shot at converting one. It might be a year before I could do it, but I believe I'll do it eventually. Depending on how it works out, I have a feeling to try .243 Win first, and then something else like maybe .260 later. I suppose it would take building from the ground up, by someone with more tallent then I, but I would like to see a true Big bore rifle built on the AK action for a bear gun. Maybe a .375H&H, or .458Win mag:wub:
  4. I always thought that loaded with buckshot they might work well for those un expected up close and personal encounters. Like when you wake up to a 300 pound gorilla tying to chock the life out of ya. Keep it under your pillow and shoot em in the face...
  5. My first guess was a LRBHO. Although maybe a dust cover with a nice rail down the top and rear peep site, that hinges by replacing the rear site leaf and attaches to the rear trunion via thumb screw Better yet, maybe it's a template that we can use to engrave Miss Saiga on the reciever. Kind of like the "Haulin Ass" mud flaps babe.
  6. I haven't sent any in yet. The guy that put me on to the Federal said his came back in one week. Edit to add: he was buying the .223Rem Power shok 200 round value packs that wally world sales. I wouldn't be surprised if the home of everyone he knows sent rebates in.
  7. There have been times when it seemed like it might be a good choice for a semi auto rifle. I'm thinking less recoil, flatter trajectory, lighter load out, still have enough energy to be potent.... It might use the same bolt head, and mags as the .308. I'm wondering if it would be a simple barrel swap, and maybe some tuning. I realize we would be less the chrome plated bore and barrel that we have in the .308, but maybe we could use a stainless barrel with thicker walls and gain some accuratcy potential. Wasn't the first FALs chambered in .243 Win.? I've never even asked anyone if
  8. Who does not speak English and is also a vegetarian........ I'm still looking for an online petition so I can post a link here.
  9. I don't have any helpful info on the Lith. surplus ammo, but I found some online rebate coupons for Remington, Federal, and Winchester commercial ammo. I posted them in the Guest section.
  10. Links to current ammo rebates for Remington, Federal, and Winchester. Enjoy. http://www.federalpremium.com/pdf/FP192_Po...okCouponFNL.pdf http://www.remington.com/pdfs/2007-FallPromoCoupon.pdf http://www.winchester.com/pdf/PromotionPDF/Reb-Form511.pdf
  11. I would be glad to sign a petition. Can you point me in the right direction?
  12. This might be a dumb question, but why make one magwell that only works with stick mags, and make a seperate model that will work with both stick drums rather than just making the one that works for both type mags? Will the model for stick only have some type of advantage over the one that works with both types?
  13. Heard it on the radio tonight. Hollywierd has plans to change GI JOE into Global Joe in short using an acromym like "Global Inititive Joint Operations Execution", or some bullshit like that. He will be based in Brussels, and have a blue cover! First they took away Captain America, and now GI Joe! From what I understand the character started in Stars and Strips during World War, and was based on an actual American in combat. What's next is every one in Hollyweird going to start flying the UN flag instead of Ole Glory! These bastards realy torque me off ! Anyone else kn
  14. I'd try to find a way to pull the gas tube off, and clean out the hole that goes through to the barrel(gas port) good. Also look for metal shavings and rub marks in the action to see if the bolt is dragging on something. Also look at bolt /bolt head make sure head turns freely no pin have worked out. Look close at extractor claw to see if any damage.
  15. If your talking .308, my thoughts are get the 16" for blasting at the range, more noise, and a bigger fireball more people saying what in hell is that?. The 22" more for serious aplications like hunting, self defense ect. One thing I like best with the longer barrel, is that the barrel could be shortened later to a length inbetween 16 and 22". Something I will add is that you might be surprised at how well the longer barreled version handles with a pistol grip.....better than I expected. Edited to add: if you plan on using the iron sites, with a longer barrel you have a longer site
  16. Before I found this forum, I went to a Gun Store to see I they could thread my barrel for Rem choke tubes. At first they all scratched their heads like they had no idea. Then an older guy came out from the back room and said, " is that a Saiga 12?, with a big smile on his face. He went on to tell me he had an S-.410 and had never seen the 12guage version. After talking more he said that the previous owner of his S.410 was Cuba Gooding. So I wonder do ya think any celebs cruise the board in stealth mode? Every time I see a picture of a TROMIX 8" S-12, it reminds me of Mel Gibson, and the o
  17. Sounds like it's some Lake City stuff. Winchester M80 ball?, 7.62x51mm, 147grain FMJ,... Does the box have a number that starts with Q. Like Q3131. What does the head stamp on the cartriage say, what's the number on the box? If it's what I think it prob is, the S.308 that I put it through loves that stuff! Should be no problemo in the S.308. The 7.62x51mm brass tends to be a bit thicker walled, gives a little less case capacity. The thicker walled cart seems to have less of a tendency to experience cart seperation, especialy in rifles with fluted chambers...
  18. The Halo is cool, but it is kind of makes for a heavy shotgun. There was a poster who adapted a rifle length preditor rail to his S-12. He stated it took some perm mods to get'r gone.
  19. Me not thinkie Russia made. Me thinkie Chinese.
  20. Looks like a lot of votes for the shorter barrel. If I only had one, I would buy the longer barrel one. It can always be shortened to what ever length you want and you do get a little more velocity. While using the iron sites, since they are further apart, it helps me with accuracy. The 16"handles a little quicker and is more compact and is fun to blast away with at the range. It also seems louder from the shooter end and has a bit more flash. Maybe you could just get both.
  21. What no double Ds? That is pretty good man. Far beyond my abilities.
  22. Sampson Manufacturing did offer one that free floats the barrel, but I don't see it on their website anymore. I believe Surefire makes one that has gotten good reviews. The 5 rail system that Mr. Juggs posted a link to seems to be cool in that the most rear rail is about close enough to use a rear peep site if you want. It's made in the Mid East though.
