  1. I remember seeing the "Rapper's Delight" one on the TV a while ago, but the sound was off, so I couldn't tell what was going on. It was great!
  2. Beautifully shot and assembled video. I didn't even realize they were "Yugo" mags at first, but looking at the followers again, it makes sense.
  3. I remember seeing a rifle attachment, for the K31 I think, that had a side-view prism like that. The purpose for that one was to allow an instructor to check a trainee's sight alignment.
  4. Better yet, change the wording to read, "I will donate 10% of every sale to Hillary Clinton's 2016 election campaign!"
  5. That's a good point about the crown, and I didn't realize I neglected to mention this. The cut I made was about 1/8" in front of where the factory rifling ended. The crown is essentially recessed behind the forward surface of the barrel, well away from the steel-on-steel violence. That said, a smooth cut mill file leaves a surprisingly burr-free edge. I didn't catch any fibers when I finished it.
  6. It's probably a bit like the Remington 81 or Browning Auto-5 where the carrier has a hinged "tail" that rides the action spring down into the buttstock at an angle. I'm sure there are more examples, but those are the two guns that I'm most familiar with. The part of the carrier that holds the bolt could be pretty similar to the front inch-or-so of a normal AR carrier.
  7. I have to admit I kind of like it! I'm not sure how the ergonomics would work with optics or iron sights, but the trigger mechanism would be the most important unknown to me. I'm still not going to buy one, of course. It'll be more overpriced than a novelty should be and we are living in a boom time for real ARs.
  8. That's even more insidious than the piglet-in-boots attack!
  9. I threaded a .670" muzzle with a 5/8"-24 die without any sort of trimming. I don't know about .689 though. I suspected that it would be possible to file a set flats around the muzzle, knock off the resultant corners on the second pass, and let the die do the rest of the work. To go from .689" to .625", you'd only need to remove 1/32" from each flat. That's just speculation though.
  10. I was going to suggest losing the recoil buffer and seeing if the problem persists. I had a problem with one catching and holding the bolt carrier on my .308 Saiga, especially in cold weather, so I know they can interfere with cycling. I'm astonished to know the bolt carrier can jump the rails without moving the recoil spring assembly.
  11. Hmm, 1492: the beginning of the destruction of native cultures throughout the Americas by the Spanish. 1948: the assassination of Mohandas Gandhi during India's struggle for independence from Britain. 1968: the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr., at the height of the Civil Rights movement. Maybe, this blood moon dooblydoo just signals another big win for White oppression!
  12. You both have good presence on camera. It can be really awkward watching people who are hesitant or uncomfortable, but you guys looked like it was second nature. The video is also pretty good clarity-wise. I'm not a big fan of HD for a lot of applications, and the resolution of your video suits my needs for this kind of thing just fine. The lighting is also good pretty much throughout, which makes it look a lot better. Only the bit at the milling machine got washed out to the point of being hard to see, and the CAD room had a little noise on the back wall from low light, but it was hardly
  13. I was really hoping to do something sensible with my tax refund...
  14. Helmets impeding awareness is not just debatable, it's moot. At least one comprehensive study has found helmets do impact hearing or visual acuity enough to affect the wearer's awareness enough to contribute to crashes. Nor were helmets found to fatigue or distract wearers to a point where their awareness was diminished. The effect is also not manifest in crash data. In Michigan, for example, the rate of helmet use is 73%. The appearance of helmeted riders in motorcycle crashes is just under 75%. As for the cases of the broken necks, was it determined that their prognoses would have b
  15. I just haven't worn a kilt since college and don't think I could pull off the tactikilt look. It'd just make me look like a mall highlander.
  16. I challenge Hornady to produce anything inexpensively! Just kidding. I have their powder trickler, and it is the cheapest thing on my reloading bench. Even my Lee Safety Scale laughs at it and calls it names.
  17. Now my Sprite will have even fewer natural flavors. Thanks Obama.
  18. I have a Century rifle, and it did show at least one sign of the company's famous ham-fisted gunsmithing. Fortunately, it was just a mashed up roll pin, which I replaced with one from the hardware store. That aside, the fit and finish is much better than any AK I've owned, though that may be out of necessity. The beaver barf furniture is a little strange and nowhere near as attractive as Bakelite. Still, it seemed pretty durable when I sanded it. Otherwise, the gun only seen very light duty so far, so I can't speak to it's reliability. Make sure the offer includes five magazines, a po
  19. I think I'll wait until the operator-grade sarong is released.
  20. Does it pop the dustcover off? Are you using a recoil buffer?
  21. I've heard (but can't confirm) that overtightening the rings is a more significant problem with cheaper scopes and rings. Something about the compression being transmitted or transmitted unevenly through thinner tubes, messing with the internals. Is the zero on your scope unstable now or is it holding the new zero (assuming you re-zeroed)? And 3.5 inches at what range?
