  1. TXsaigaguy - TX also here. Saigas are sweet little guns. You'll like it once you get to shoot it. Mind if I ask what you paid for it? Prices here in DFW area crazy. -pmule
  2. Can't vouch for the supplier (have not used them) but I can vouch for the ProMags. They get a bad rap but I have yet to have problems with any of the three I have. -pmule
  3. OK y'all want to hear a good one - I bought in November at $495 - and that was show price. Bitched about it the whole time but at least I got one. Last weekend I was cruising the local gun store, and lo and behold I found 2 Saigas - a .223 and a 7.62... bone stock... Get this... he was asking... freaking $899 EACH!!! In fact anything AK (even WASRs) were $799 - 899. Bulgarians (Armory) were $999. OK is it me, or do I smell highway robbery - or trolling for a sucker?? -packmule
  4. You may wind up counting it as a blessing. I have a 9mm carbine (Hi-Point) and it is a blast to shoot, not to mention being a great backup piece.
  5. Well, mine is "pie plate" at 100 yds with open sights , but that is the operator, not the gun or the ammo... I'll report back next trip once I get my reflex sight dialed in.
  6. I would be interested in any feedback on this question as the reloading forum is sparse. I am new to reloading and ordered Hornady 55 grain FMJ-BT W/C, Ramshot Tac powder, and Remington 7 1/2 primers. I plan on using fired M193 brass. I hope i got the right components. Most of my research was on the AR-15 boards. hopefully the info will jive with Saiga's specs. Let me check with a buddy of mine who reloads .223 and see what his recipe is. I was shooting some of his reloads at the range the other day through my Saiga and had absolutely no problems with it. I know the brass was mixed Lak
  7. Found one at my local dealer for $699. Must be the new going asking price. His prices on other AK's were out of sight too.
  8. Do any of y'all have an (extra) English version of the factory provided manual that comes with new rifles? I have one... but it's in German.
  9. Yes, and yes. The Saiga Galil handguards have their retainer built-in. It has a threaded thumbscrew on the LH side with a sling connector hole in it. (I picked up a SKS sling with a single quick detach and attached the QD end to the thumbscrew. The other end attaches to the "standard" loop on my T6 stock.)
  10. +1. Got my Promags in today - the one I "fit" tested did not seem to fit as well as the Surefire - fits tighter actually, which may not be all bad, at least it isn't sloppy. Range test will be the REAL test though. Promag has the price point though.
  11. That's what I did with mine. Screws right in, no gunsmithing. That is the good part - if you ever want/need to return to stock config, you can easily do that. To get more of the true AK look, you can change out the handguard - that is also good for another compliance part if you use US hardware. I used Tapco's Galil style handguard with retainer. The Galil handguard exposes the gas tube in true AK fashion. With the T6 on it will never look exactly like a "real" AK, but it has a eye-pleasing look of its own IMO. Changing the handguard to expose the tube really brings out the AK in it. The
  12. Yup, and yup. Pogy has you pointed to the gory details.
  13. Some Saigas are imported with that stock from the factory, so should not be an issue. I believe they consider that a "thumbhole" grip, not a pistol grip (mighty big thumbhole if you ask me). I passed up a .223 with that stock, should have taken it instead of the MonteCarlo. I thought I saw some Surefire S-20 mags someplace, but I could be mistaken...
