OK, not a Saiga, but M16 retro eye candy, anway
imarangemaster replied to imarangemaster's topic in Saiga .223
Colt made M16A1s were lighter. Milspec for the current M16A2/3/4 and M4 is black. H&R made m16A1 were dark, LM uppers were also dark, as the gray hardcoat was Colt proprietary finish, to my understanding. In 1974, my H&R made m16A1 in basic training was black. Also many M16A! that were arsenal refinished post Vietnam were done blackish. There are a ton of retro uppers that are military take offs showing up on the market. The LM uppers tend to be black to near black. Mine has a Sako sub-contract "SAK" chrome 1/12 which I am really excited about. I had one in the early 80s with -
Here is a quick pic of my retro. I won't have my Saiga PG done before my surgery tomorrow, so I thouggh I would blaspheme and share this! It is on a DPMS lower. The top is a m16A! "LM" with a SAK chrome 1/12 barrel (Sako contract), early dust cover and slip ring. I still don't have the three prong, but the stock is an early non-trapdoor. Top left is a GI brass deflector for lefties (was discussed elsewhere in this forum), top right - original "Cheu Hoi" Vietnam 20 round water-proof mag bags left in the jungle that doubled as surrender passes for VC. Also the 20s are pre "M16" marked ear

Are Saiga's considered clones?
imarangemaster replied to Triggerhappy2006's topic in Other AK Rifles
Siaga IS an AK, not a clone. It is a "civilized" variant to keep it importable. My 223 has all the regular holes for trigger and grip nut under the bottom plate. I understand it is the same receiver, trunion, and barrel (less threading at muzzel) as the 5.56 full-auto export model AK made by Izhmash. -
Mine loves 62 grain Barnaul Silver Bear SPs and Golden Bear HPs. Haven't done target at 100 or more, but at 25 meter one ragged hole, and pop cans and pine cones dance at 100 from a casual rest. I am probably going to switch to 55s, though, since I built a retro 1/12" M16A1 (semi) with a Sako chrome lined barrel.

You need two ore compliance parts. The Tapco T6 with SAW grip works awesome and counts as two. TThe Sure Fire and Promag Siaga specific mags (not Tapco, they are generic 223 AK mags and need modifications) count as three parts.

I posted this on the conversion forum, but thought I would do it here, also. OK, I got the $83 KVAR conversion set to do a full PG conversion on my 16" .223. It included a US made Warsaw length stock with but trap (the length I prefer), US made AK grip (which I also prefer to SAW grip), screw and receiver nut/block, trigger guards and rivets, and US single hook trigger. I use only US high caps (3 compliance parts) so I am not too worried about count. I assume I will use the disconnector hook, sleeve, and spring from the original Siaga disconector block assembly. Is this correct?

The best deal is the Tapco T6 Interfuse with SAW grip. Takes 5 minutes to make your Saiga very AKish. Board member Carolina Shooting supply is a good source, especially for Surefire Mags. Gilberts Guns is another source. I got my Tapco from them.

Well, very COOOOL! My Kvar stuff for the PG conversion is due Tuesday, and I think I will have to add the Galil hand guarddd for sure. VERY nice. Now you need to put an M16 flash hider on like I did to mine.

I have Promag Saiga 30s, and they work flawlessly. $20 is a good price, too.

Using a hi-cap magazine for a saiga
imarangemaster replied to triggerhappy2491's topic in Saiga .223
Easiest is to add a TAPCO t6 with SAW pistol grip. Takes 5 minutes and makes you rifle more AKish. That is 2 compliance parts. Use only US made Sure Fire or Promag high caps, and that adds three more. 922 compliant. \ -
Argh! I'm afflicted with "Saigafixaitis"
imarangemaster replied to imarangemaster's topic in Saiga .223
WEll, you convinced me to go with the Galil fore arm. $200 less than messing with a standard handguard AK conversion, and looks good! Hey, that's what mine would have looked like, except I sold my Tapco T6 to go with pistol grip conversion! Nice pixs. I am convinced. GALIL -
I have it bad. My Kvar AK pistol grip conversion set is en-route. I sold off the T6 Interfuse and modified hand guard with tactical grip..... I was going to use a Tapco galil grip, but sure like the looks of the AK103 polymer AK hand guard. I know I would have to get a standard gas tube, the AK103 hand guard, etc, and a setup from Dinzag to convert to standard AK handguard. Trouble is that the Tapco Saiga Galill grip is $50 complete. I will probably sink about $250 plus into doing the AK103 set up. Anyone got pics of their Saiga with the Tapco Galil set on it. I haven't seen any

Historically, that is a high price, but with that being said... They are scarce as hen's teeth and the price is going through the roof with pre-inauguration hysteria. I can guarantee, you will not regret owning one. Awesom AK, and 223s are the most accurate when compared to 7.62x39 and 5.45x39.

New to saiga- is $400 a good price for this .223?
imarangemaster replied to triggerhappy2491's topic in Saiga .223
Get it. I love mine, and I gave A$350 without scope, mount, or bipod. They are scarce as hen's teeth. For my money, they are the best buy in the AK market today. MY 223 is the most accurate AK I have ever owned. -

Well, I can't stand it. I just ordered a KVAR full PG conversion and a Galil fore-grip for my 223! I decided my partial conversion was like getting "just a little bit pregnant!" I am going all the way, so I am selling the Tapco T6 interfuse M4 stock with SAW pistol grip, and the Saiga fore end that I modified: Cut back, ventilation holes, and picatinny rail with tactical fore grip to someone who doesn't have the where with all to do there own conversion. Price is $80 delivered. I can take paypal and get it shipped same day. In five minutes, your Saiga .223 or 7.62 can look like this.

I could, but I ordered a Warsaw Pack length fixed stock and standard AK grip. I want it to look AKish! -
