  3. I posted about the best gun deal/bargain I have ever gotten in response to Cobra's thread about shooting today. So, I've already mentioned my 870 Endine.

What was the best, most awesome, gun deal you have ever been able to stumble into or pull off? Tell us about the gun and if you don't mind, the sweet price you were able to get it for.

    WJ

The B.S. meter will be running on this thread - don't tell us you bought a new Tromix from some Grandma who found it in the barn after her husband died, and she let it go for $25.00. unless you can provide evidence, admissible in a court of law under the Federal Rules of Evidence, to substantiate such a deal. lol.

Chinese AK (FULL) from a buddy back from Vietnam for $40.00. :chris:

Way back then (1971), I didn't know the "RULES" but realized very quickly I COULD NOT HAVE IT... :ded:

Gave it back to my buddy (who had already spent the $40 on beer and cigs)... :cryss:

... so guess you could say it was my most expensive weapon...

    ...nothing for forty bucks... :dollar:

  4. how many of ya'll have all caliber versions of the Saiga??

I think there should be a forum ribbon for it!!

    mmmmmm...forumm ribbonnn.

Do to the various calibers, models, world-wide-coverage..... :smoke:

Suggest we do a forum "Ribbon" valid/awarded for your first Saiga Conversion piece...

Folowed by a "Saga Leaf" to put on the ribbon...

for each DIFFERENT Caliber you have/complete...

Sorta like a ribbon with clusters....

  5. Unit commanders do their own thing all the time.

Especially if some dumb ass in the unit has a firearm related incident.

If you bring a gun on post it is supposed to be registered at the Provost office.

If I was handed something like this I would promptly tell whoever handed it to me to stuff it up their ass.

Non of my shit is anywhere near post excluding my CC pistol.

As far as anyone is concerned they know if it comes to me putting pen to paper I sold the dozens of guns I owned FTF the day before for a dollar each.

I'll take-em all at a $1 apiece... Give you the combo to the safe so you can use them anytime you want!

Let's hope it never comes to that... I'd have to wrap mine in tarps, cover them in cosmo and bury them in the

    back yard... and the ammo....

  6. I got rid of the scope that was shooting up to high an got this thing tryen to get info on it now Thanks.

    IMG_1040.jpg

Is that one a UTG/Leapers side mount your using?

If so, How is the alignment on your centerline for the scope?

I'm having an issue with one I purchased 6 months ago and just now getting around to using.

It's off to the right by 1/2" of center line. :cryss:

  7. Mine lines up fine but shoots low even with the scope jacked all the way up.any help here.

*** if this comes through twice... having internet problems this morning***

Only thing I've heard of is to shim the front mount.

Sticky back tape inside the lower ring should give enough height to correct to 200-300 yds.

Might have to play with single or double tape, or use the two-sided and only remove the backing for the

side that attaches to the mount???

Looks like Cxxx, but works.... I've been told...

  8. Hi guys i paid 65$ @ at gun show for this side mount seen them on line for 40$ but i had to have it NOW.O well i hate that.

    IMG_0967.jpg

    IMG_0976.jpg

I have a similar unit but secured with three (3) lock screws. My problem is it is WAY OFF TO THE RIGHT of centerline of the barrel and fixed iron sights? How does yours line up???

  9. I don't understand why everyone wants to fire them from the hip. You wouldn't shoot a .44MAG,.454 Casull or any other heavy recoiling bigbore revolver from the hip. why a 12ga??

I don't know either. Probably like AZ-Dave said, because it looks "cool" and people see it in movies. I think it's the same as fools holding handguns sideways.

Another PG with Top Wire Folder is the Knox setup with recoil-reducer (for us really old farts)...

... They claim up to 65%...

...thinking about putting one on my Maverick-88 instead of the ATI stock...

Should still work with the heat-shield and sights from ATI...

    http://www.blackhawk.com/product/SpecOps-F...ck,1156,165.htm

Bad part is they're about twice the buck at ~ $129...

They (Knox) also have a PG only stock, no folder...

    :smoke:

  10. Ive looked at dinzags site but cant find the instructions on how /what to modify on a G2 trigger to work in a .308. Some instructions on how to reasemble with the bho would be a lifesaver as well. Ive asked this 3 different places on this forum and on other forums as well with no luck. Im going nuts having my saiga laid out on my kitchen table in pieces. PLEASE somebody help! TIA for any info, Chuck

Dinzag completly modifies the G2 setup to fit the 308 and work with the 308 safety.

Best to get your G2 setup from him He doest GREAT work...

Just got mine back (with the latest modification)...

Installed easy and safety seems to work fine...

There are BHO installation hints/tips on the forum...

Most use a piece/pieces of dental flose to hold the BHO Spring inplace while inserting the pin...

    Luck

  11. ITEM IS OFF the market Pending Funds

Economics force me to drop my pet conversion project for awhile.... :cryss:

I need to sell my 308 partially converted setup...

    Weapon has NEVER BEEN FIRED!

I've been very careful doing my conversion...

...and spent lot's of time waiting on parts...

Latest is waiting on a re-modified Dinzag FCG to fix the safety lever issues.

That's due in later this week... so.....

Saiga .308 20" in Factory Box with all the bells and whistles (except the Factory Mag)...

    1 - Factory - Forearm/Screw (not installed)...

    2 - Factory - Buttstock/Screws (not installed)...

    3 - Dinzag - Black SAW-PG/Nut & modified factory trigger guard (installed)...

...... you get the "long" screw too.... in case you want to do an AK style PG later...

4 - Dinzag - Retention Plate (installed) - to hold the hammer and trigger pins while I was waiting on the modified FCG...

5 - Dinzag - (latest modifications) 308 FCG, Hammer & G2 Single Hook package (not installed)...

6 - BHO & Spring - BHO modified by Cobra - (not installed)...

7 - Dinzag - US Gas Piston install kit (not installed)...

    8 - (1) 25rnd Surfire Magazine - new (it fits!)...

...Items 5 & 8 gives you a total of 6 pts for compliance...

...Item 7 is another 1 pt when/if installed...

NOW if someone REALLY want's me to put it ALL back together (except the Gas Piston)....

...so they can turn around and take if ALL APART...

    ..... I will...but...

Nothing special to show in pics, but if I can find where Momma put the digital camera I'll take some photos...

Have to ship this to your local FFL... be sure they will accept shipment from "unlicensed owner"... :haha:

    Yea... I know it's perfectly legal ...

...but I've got two local yocals in my area that won't do it... :ded:

    Payment by USPS MO

...buyer and seller (that's me) will split the shipping/insurance costs...

... estimate that's $20.00 each by the USPS...

... if it's more.... I cover the difference!

Looking for $720.00 including shipping... Less than I've got in the setup so far...

...and another reason I have to sell it before it becomes more...

    Thanks....

  12. That is exactly what is happening. It looks like the safety flat is too short to contact the trigger. What is Danzig modifying for you? The trigger or the safety? Do I need to get a new safety?

I had gotten my FCG and some other Conversion parts from him. I think he is trying to modify the FCG itself.

He had already did a modification (that worked for most .308s) but mine (and evidently some other units) still

    didn't work.

If you follow that other thread I mentioned, about welding a tip onto the Safety Tang, you'll see how they fixed their's

locally. Not sure where you got your FCG... Member "jammer" has a picture of the weld job on the Saefty Tang in

that forum. Believe it's first page...

I'm just waiting to see how well the "change" works... may buy an AK safety lever anyway..... for backup...

    think they're around $10 + shipping.

  13. I picked up a .308 Saiga recently. It's a 22in barrel model, came with wood stock..shoots real well. I've been looking at the conversion instructions that were used on a '39 and there are a few differences from my .308 that have me puzzled. My trigger is one piece without a separate axle to drill out. Looks like there is no hole precut for the pistol grip nut, there are two spot welds in the plate on the bottom next to the trigger.

Has anyone put together a set of instructions for this model Saiga? I could start grinding and probably get it done but it would be better to have more info.

    Thanks, Alex

With the Saiga .308, the factory FCG can be removed without drilling. Just disengage the retaining wire and push the pins out. Once the factory FCG is removed, look for the PG nut hole from the inside. It may or may not be there, but it is much easier to tell looking from the inside with the factory trigger removed. If the PG nut is not there, you will have to cut it yourself, or you can use the special trigger guard from SaigaTech.

Removing the bottom plate is simply a matter of grinding/drilling spot-welds/rivets and popping the plate off with a small cold chisel.

For a replacement FCG, I highly recommend the .308-specific FCG from Dinzag. Good luck!

Okay I have a question. Is moving the trigger guard just too get the pistol grip in? I installed a M4 6 Position Collapsible stock set with pistol grip from Mississippi Auto Arms, no mods required.

    http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/index.p...products_id=124

If I want to install the dinzag FCG do I still have to move the trigger guard or will it drop in? What I really need to know the purpose of moving the trigger guard. I did research the forum but some reference the FCG and some the pistol grip.

Most people are not happy with the "elongated" trigger setup on the 308 rifle. You utilized the combo butt stock with the PG incorporated. With that, you CAN'T install the modified tirgger setup (forward) unless you've got R E A L L Y LONG FINGERS.

The springy/sheet metal trigger on the factory 308 is one of the reasons most convert to a standard PG, modified FCG (forward), modified/moved trigger guard, etc. etc. etc.

Some even leave the standard butt stock on, with the newly installed FCG and PG and moved trigger guard..(instead of installing a new collapsible or folding stock)....

    Luck

  14. I installed a FCG from MAA and it is a Tapco. After the install my safety doesnt work. Has anyone had this problem? It just fires as normal woth it on or off. It looks like the safety bar instide is too short. Any thoughts ? Anyone else had this problem? Who has replacement safeties?

If you've got a 308, the "factory" safety lever "tang" is too short to correctly catch/stop the modified tapco G2 FCG.

I have one from Dinzag, (tapco G2 single hook) and he is "reworking" my FCG so the stock Safety lever/tang will work....... maybe.....

Seems the "tang" on my 308 safety lever is "straight across" and shorter (~ .030") than any he had ever seen before.

I've also heard that a "standard???" AK Safety lever will work. Pictures of those I've seen DO have a longer tang on the safety lever.

Example... Think this is a chinese AK safety lever...

    https://www.apexgunparts.com/product_info.p...2v7go7jsut71e94

Very similar to a "modification" thread posted on this site... think it is......

....the Saiga .308 forum, "safety problem". Someone welded onto the tang to make it longer on the one side...

    Luck...

  15. Just finished my 1st 308 conversion and think I have this "Safety Problem":

    Problem is :ded:

    - Charge the weapon...

    - Put safety on...

    - Touch trigger (slight movement)...

    - Release the trigger...

    - Remove safety...

    - WEAPON FIRES!

CAN this be corrected with the weld/add to the safety?

I currently have the dinzagarms single trigger FCG, easy installation!

Would a double trigger setup help this problem?

Whould I be better off to get the FSE or RSA FCG and replace the G2?

I don't really need an adjustable trigger, so probably the FSE FCG....

    Thanks for any assist....

Do you have the FCG that Dinzag offers specifically for the Saiga .308? If so, I would contact Dinzag about it. His .308 FCG is made to resolve that very safety issue, among other things.

Yep, Dinzag 308 FCG, retention clip, etc. .

I've been in contact with him.... Just need the time to break-down my 308... check the items... and take some photos and get back to him...

Based on his description, don't think my FCG set has his mod... need to verify...

Hopefully do that tomorrow while momma is gone...

    Thanks for the response...

    JUST AN UPDATE....

I sent my FCG and Safety lever in to Dinzag to check out the problem.

He discovered that the tang on my 308 Safety lever is SHORTER BY .030 inches?

He is currently modifing the FCG to handle this difference in lenght/height.

I've put a query into RAAC to see if possibly there was a change in the Saiga 308 design.....

...or maybe the factory is just using which ever Safety lever is available during assembly. :cryss:

Let everyone know what I find out.

  16. Right what nissantech said, do a search on the conversion process.

... also search on specifically 308 conversions issues...

The .308 is different in that it does not have the two "drill out rivits/welds" that are on

the typical conversion process for the other calibers.

  17. I just received five 20rd Saiga magazines for my .308. When I trying to insert the mag. Their isnt enough room for the magazine latch to close. Almost like their is too much plastic on the "male" part of the magazine, under where the mag latch catches.... Ive read about people having tight fitting Surefire mags. This is far more extreme.

I've got 25rd and 20rd Surefire MAGs for my Saiga 308.

No problem with inserting or releasing the MAGs.

    Tight, but sold fitting.

  18. MANY THANKS to RAAC and SaigaStock... My 308 BHO spring is on the way!!!

These are some straight up people!

If you need a replacement BHO spring or BHO Plate, I'd contact SaigaStock and let them know...

... along with the Saiga model type.
