  1. I've got a UTG quadrail on mine that looks suspiciously identical to that one. Got it from Centerfire Systems when they had them on sale for a little over $40. Regular price is around $85 and a quick check of their website shows they don't use the UTG name in the advertisement any more even though you can see the letters UTG in the picture.
  2. I got frustrated with trying to get the stock spring in place so I took a different route. Since I didn't want to use any plastic plugs in my rifle I did a little work and installed axis pins in the two holes from the rear trigger mount (secured by modified sheppard's hook). Used a leftover spring to keep tension on the BHO lever and it works great.
  3. As I read your earlier posts I was wondering to myself why you wouldn't just buy one. Considering they are actually quite cheap it is much easier than making one. One thing that is a little more expensive is threading the barrel. Found 14x1 LH dies on Ebay for $8 + s/h from China. Much better than the $30+ rental fee or $60+ cost of buying in the states.
  4. Here's my recently converted Saiga. I still need to install a bullet guide and want to thread the barrel for a muzzle device. My other Russian friend is also shown. Tapco communist length buttstock UTG Quadrail foregrip Single-hook trigger group A couple things I did different: - Installed axis pins in the two holes left by moving the trigger forward. Not exactly simple but not too hard either. - Used one of the leftover springs to keep tension on the BHO lever. Spring is mounted on one of the rear axis pins.
  5. The law does say handgun ammo. The problem is there are serveral "handguns" that chamber intermediate rifle cartriges. Of course those types of handguns are probably banned in Kalifornja unless the existed prior to the ban. I think it is a sound policy for all internet-based ammo dealers to cease all sales to non-FFL holders in Kalifornja. The new anti-immigration law in Arizona is driving illegal aliens out of the state. Maybe Kalifornja's restrictive gun and ammo laws will drive out the few remaining rational residents. This all goes back to the reason we have different states with d
  6. Exactly the directions I've been trying to download and can't, thanks though, appreciate it. From the .pdf file: 1) Place the guide in the gun. You will notice a machined relief area "X" on the front. That end tucks under the barrel face. On the 7.62x39 round trunnion rifles, the right hand edge and should line up with the raised step in the barrel/chamber face at about 4 o’clock. Make sure it does not go to the right of that boundary or the bolt may contact it. All other guides are centered in the rifle. Sounds like the right edge should line up with the 4 o'clock position of
  7. I wonder if you could just make a bullet guide out of Mighty Putty!!!! I bet Billy Mays would try it. Seriously though, I've used other epoxy puttys on mechanical applications and the stuff is crazy strong. Can even be drilled and tapped.
  8. Wonder if anyone could tell if you take some AK mags to a trophy shop and have them engrave a big U.S. with a circle around it, or "Made In USA", on the mag body, floor plate and follower. Then blue/paint over the engraving.
  9. Considering AK's are the most prolific weapon in the history of mankind, I would assume that AK mags are the most prolific magazine. How many millions are out there. What a ridiculous comment.
  10. I'm just givin' a WAG here but is your receiver dimpled at the mag well? I'm thinking the thicker sides of the poly mags may interfere with a the dimples.
  11. The Pro-Mags designed for Saiga's should fit just fine. Could be they are mislabeled. I bought one when I bought my 7.62 and it fit just right. Check the location of the mag catch tab on the Pro-mags vs. stock. If there's a significant difference take them back and get some other ones. Would also suggest going with Surefire polymer mags for you Saiga.
  12. If you don't want to modify AKM mags yourself then $25 per mag is a good price for the Surefires. If you have a link, post it up so others get get in on it of they like.
  13. I ordered 1,000 rounds of Wolf from Sportsmansguide back in December 08. After shipping/handlind and with member disount and a discount coupon it came to $212.70. Kept getting backordered with the latest estimate for delivery in mid March. I was in Germany all last week, get home around 7:00 pm Friday night and the wife says there's a package for me. It's still right next to the front door, too heavy for her to move and yes, it's 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39....sweet. If you have stuff on backorder from Sportsmansguide, keep your order in, it will eventually come in. If you cancel the order th
  14. HERE is another place to get a BP-02. With shipping it should be right at $60.
