  1. It's a flash-hider. I've got one on my .223, and it works -- very well. I fired off a handful at midnight on New Year's Eve, and all I saw was one tiny red spark. It was pretty dark out, but I used my red-dot (and fired into a safe backstop.) The early models didn't go on straight, and DPH first sent me a washer, but that didn't fix the problem. (The threaded portion of the flash-hider was too deep.) They subsequently sent me a whole new kit with both parts, and it's not quite perfectly straight, but you have to look close to see the misalignment. I haven't looked at their site lately,
  2. Here you go, concretus -- I've painted it since this was taken. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=34981&hl=
  3. I made a free-floating handguard for mine, but it attaches to the receiver same as the factory HG. Here's how: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=34485&hl= btw, I don't believe there is any accuracy improvement with this -- but the ventilation is far better than even a drilled-out factory HG, and isn't in the way when stripping the gun for cleaning.
  4. Why are you even opening strange emails in the first place? I get dozens per day, and if they aren't from someone I know, they go straight to the trash.
  5. You can do like I did and make your own -- see here: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...81&hl=heron This was made from some 1/8"x1" aluminum angle. I put a whole pictorial together, but IIRC, I wasn't able to post it for some reason. It's labor-intensive, but very cheap. Very sturdy, and the ventilation is superb. I mounted a little rail to it and put on a 5-position vertical grip. I have mixed feelings about that and would like something different, but haven't got around to designing anything else yet.
  6. Surefire mags work perfectly for me, with no feed ramp -- they just cost a lot.
  7. The photos are out of sequence, but it's the same sight, before and after.
  8. I took it out to the range today to sight it in. The sight picture is much better, but I'm still a lousy shot.
  9. I got so tired of the factory rear sight that I just had to do something, and here it is: a flat-washer add-on, as a ghost-ring/peep sight. I removed the rear sight, (by pressing down on it with a screwdriver) and laid out marks for two #6-32 threaded holes in the wings of the sight blade. I went to center-punch the holes for drilling, and blunted the end of the center-punch (purchased brand-new for this project) without leaving a dent. Got out the torch and annealed the sight blade (which is why it looks so bad in the photos -- it's been burned). It was still pretty hard, but I managed t
  10. Getting it out wasn't bad; I put the gun into a vise (with soft plastic jaws) and just pressed down on the sight with a big screwdriver and popped it out. Getting it back in was driving me to distraction, until I finally quit trying to push it down and concentrated on pushing it forward instead. First I tried a c-clamp, but that kept slipping off; then I grabbed my big channel-lock pliers, and snapped it right in.
  11. I'm thinking of doing a ghost-ring mod to my rear sight, but can't figure out how I'm going to get it out (or put it back in). That little leaf spring is incredibly stiff, and needs to be pushed down somehow, but I haven't figured it out yet. BTW, I already did a search here for answers, and found nothing helpful. I can figure out how to make a simple tool if needed. I just need to know what works. I have arthritis in my hands and can't push the thing down manually; I need leverage.
  12. Here's the best ammo link: http://www.ammoengine.com/
  13. Mine has the 20" barrel, and it said 93mm spread for the four-shot group. I figured that out to about 3 5/8", but I've never come close to being that good yet. I still haven't got the irons completely adjusted, and my other sight is a 4moa red dot. I can shoot minute-of-man at 100 yds. Need more range time.
  14. At that price, I'd be tearing the pocket off my pants to get my billfold out. Grab that puppy, now! Converted .223's are going for about $600 and up most places, last I heard.
  15. Got mine last September for $270+tax
