  1. Remove the gas regulator and take a CLOSE look at your gas ports with a good flashlight. Use a paperclip to clean out the ports you can see. If you can only see one port clearly, then this mod will make a big difference in the way your gun functions.
  2. Increasing gas flow WILL assist with the operation of the gun. Are you having FTE issues? Have you tried both gas settings? Is the gun broken in or still new with a limited number of shots?
  3. This mod can be done without harming the finish of the gun. Be careful. Protect the gun where necessary with masking tape, etc. if you feel the need. Why do you NEED to add gas ports? Even if you only have a two port gun it should cycle ALL ammo types according to RAAC. Are the ports unobstructed and clean? If your gun has not yet been converted, check with RAAC about getting it repaired/replaced by them. If you want to repair your own gun, I would consider enlarging your existing gas ports SLIGHTLY before attempting to drill another hole in the barrel. Drilling a hole in

  6. Funny you should mention that... I'm working on putting together that very setup for my Saiga 12. I want some type of traditional sights as an alternative to my red/green dot halo. You are right about the small sight radius... Unless you move the front sight out to the end of the barrel! You need three componets to make this work: 1) A rail mount for the top of the gas tube. COBRA (Saiga 12 forum member) makea a nice looking one as well as UktiMAK. (I'm waiting for my CHOAS quad rail!) 2) A barrel mounted front sight. (I like the AR-15 style sight from Kreb's.) (Numerous choic
  7. "Post range Modifications Obviously, when I got home from the first range session I was looking for ways to make the S12 better before the next session. I choose to work on the trigger. I ground a little off of the bottom of the disconnector to get a two stage trigger. I slightly stretched out the disconnector spring to give the second stage a more positive feel. And finally I polished all of the contact surfaces. I have to say the trigger is almost perfect. Two stage, positive second stage, with no second stage creep, and no grittiness. A huge improvement over the stock G2 trigger feel. "
  8. Thanks to all for the props! Just trying to help. No change to the normal operation of the gas regulator. "All the way in, then out to the first click..." If you have any quesions, use this forum's search feature. There are many topics about normal/proper operation of the gas regulator.
  9. The gas block metal is not too hard and is easy to file. Be patient and take your time. I alternated between holding the gas block and moving the file, and holding the file and moving the gas block. After the corners were formed, I switched to a flat file. I do not recommend using a rotary tool or Dremel. When you are done, the hole in the gas block should look something like this. Make sure both the gas tube and barrel bores are free from any rough edges. IMPORTANT! Ensure you remove any/all metal shaving and any other contaminants from the gas block before attempting r
  10. 8) Add a layer or two of duct tape to the flat side of the shelf bracket. In the next steps you will stand the gun on it barrel on the 2” x 4” scrap placed on the floor and use the shelf bracket with duct tape to remove the gas block. Be prepared to catch the gas tube as it will be loose after tapping the gas block forward about 1/8". 9) Stand the gun on the 2” x 4” scrap place on the floor. VERY IMPORTANT! Insure the barrel thread protector is installed and/or otherwise protect the end of the barrel. (A mouse pad works well.) 10) Insert the shelf bracket with duct tape b
  11. I'm working on the how-to article right now. It takes quite a bit of time with pics and all. I also spoke with Clyde from RAAC today and will include those details in write up as well... Stay tuned.
  12. If you've got one new or used you want to sell, let me know. Send info, pics and price.
  13. I have come up with a method to repair the gas tube hole issue. A method anyone could do at home with simple HAND tools and minimal effort! Including disassemble and reassembly this modification took about 2 hours. I will create a separate topic later with complete instructions and pics. The Saiga 12 I did this mod to was a '3-holer', meaning it had three holes drilled into the barrel. I know this because I used my Snap-On borescope to look down the barrel. BORESCOPE IMAGE: The issue is that although the barrel has three holes, two of the holes are obstructed in the gas tube ahea

  15. Welcome aboard friend! I know that Saiga of yours will be awesome when you get it done! Let me know what I can do to help along the way! You are welcome to be my guest anytime at the BC gun club.
  16. Like others here I didn't think too much about the fact that I could not shoot cheap wally loads without FTE until I read this thread. I recently purchase two saiga 12 shotguns and have only fired one. I one that I have fired has three holes in the barrel and only one exposed in the gas tube. I opened my spare saiga and looked at it and it has two holes in the barrel and two in the gas tube. I called and left a message with RAA. I would like to have them replaced with 4-hole guns. We'll see what they say. I used my Snap-On borescope to look down the barrel.
