  1. Every village has at least one and our village is no longer missing their's....
  2. magma caster machine = Drool! I have seen one in action and could probably afford it. BUT - Finding good quality lead and tin and antimony and linotype keep me from buying one Lead especially has gotten hard and expensive to find. I have a pile of lino and about 1000lbs of lead, but that won't justify and magma caster... Macbeau....
  3. Not so fast! I have seen enough movies featuring Italians to know that these Commandments are viewed with "moral flexibility" in the Italian community.... SIX: 'You shall not murder.' SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.' Ox and Donkey - really? Ya'll covet Ox and Donkeys? Eh? Tis wh
  4. Mine doesn't go low enough. The roll crimp I use fits on my drill press and spins the hull plastic until it's soft then folds it down with a light press. Takes less than 5 secs/rd. I was using and overshot card too, then discovered that it held the slug just fine without one. Also - Sorry - we seem to be having this discussion across two or three threads.. And it seems like you and I are the only ones interested in casting and loading the Lyman from scratch. I am sensing that many just buy loaded rounds, dump the shot / slug load and re-seat these.... I am too worried about pressure
  5. You could easily mod the lyman mold to work like the RCBS, Rapine, or Lee with automatic base pin. Just need to drill and tap the base pin end, add two bolts and a piece of perforated steel to hold the pin and anchor to the bottom of the mold blocks. I never did it just based on my iffy results with automatic base pins on the other molds... BTW - I has a blessing of molds... Lordy. Also --- If anyone needs a mold, let me know. If I'm not willing to part with it (rarely), I will happily cast and send you some to see if you like it. Just cover my costs...
  6. If California is a toilet (and I don't disagree that it is); Then it's a toilet without water, full of shit, and on fire.... Burn baby, burn! Macbeau....
  7. Yeah. New ones are about $70. I have had mine for about 15 years. As to the design.... Ummmm.? I have the lyman pellet in both 12 and 20ga. They are good quality steel molds and throw good projectiles once they warm up. It's a lot like casting minie balls and what slows down casting is the manual base pin / plug. I have a couple of RCBS minie ball molds with automatic base pins / plugs and it's tougher to cast good bullets with the automatic base pins. Once you learn a technique and get the mold nicely warmed up, you can whip right through them. When I was shooting N-SSA, I was cast
  8. I watched both and I see what the problem is now. I want to find the other videos he references in the second video. Next time I load up a few, I'll try the roll with the star crimp. I need to cast up a few first. I have about a hundred 20ga cast and ready to go (the 20's also work awesome in a .58 muzzle loader as a wadcutter minie ball), but none in 12ga.. Yesterday, I found my 12ga mold and a pile of lead and linotype so I'll fire up the lead pot and see what I get. Your post / question got me interested in it again. Macbeau
  9. Wow! I do feel special now! Thanks Ben! The truth is, I never went way. "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt" -- Benjamin Franklin I see not much has changed in your world and you're every bit as mentally unbalanced as ever.... 10. Using Winchester AA12 wads. 38gns of Blue Dot works great. I think you can use a Fed 12S3 as well. I'd need to recheck that. On the crimp. It's like you need a back crimp (or lip crimp) before the star crimp. I had thought it was the wad under compression causing the star crimp to open. The roll crimp I use fits on my drill press and is a snap to use. I use a Lee loader and will check out the video for the mod/adjustment. Thanks! Macbeau...
  11. I have the Lyman mold in both 12ga (525gn) and 20ga (350gn). I have only used Blue Dot between 35 and 42 gns. I have tried both roll and star crimp. In my experience, the star crimp wants to push forward after loading. The roll crimp holds much better. Macbeau...

  15. ^^^^THIS^^^^ Numrich / Gun Parts Corp will probably have that fore end and any small parts that are missing or damaged. The 20 is probably the more fun one to shoot. I had an old Stevens throw-lever in 12 that was a bear with recoil, At 5lbs (+/-), they are light for 12ga. Macbeau sends...

  17. What's the Russian word for "made by drunken factory worker on a Friday"...? Or, maybe the "Putinator".?.?
  18. This exactly. Thanks guys! Indeed! I don't think the Saiga would have become nearly as popular as it has without the hard work and innovation of the two gentlemen! Thank you and Happy Birthday to you both! Macbeau...
  19. Indeed! Without Csspecs, Saiga and Vepr ownership would be a much less satisfying experience! Thanks for you mags and Happy Birthday
  20. Paper doesn't burn through or melt when fired with black powder. I typically get only one or tow loads out of a plastic hull before they either pinhole or melt the case mouth down. Did I fail to mention the 10's I have are BLACK POWDER blanks?
  21. Ummmmm.....? I have had many issues with plastic hull shot loads deforming under the pressure of the mag spring compression, over the years. It's always the vertical,. single stack mags. The Drums (MD-20, ProMag 12 and Promag 20) seem exempt from this as no pressure is placed on the shell itself . However. every "linear feeding device" will squash plastic hulled ammo - given enough time. Macbeau sends...
