  1. Hi all - I'm heading down from NJ to AL to do some pig hunting with the S12... will be leaving Wednesday and coming back Sunday... will be driving down I81 to I40 and then I76 for a bit through VA/TN/AL. Unfortunately due to NJ gun laws I cannot own any S12 mags with >5 capacity so I was wondering if anyone along the way would be willing to let me borrow one for the trip? Would be happy to leave some collateral and give some beer or something in return. Thanks, Jeff
  2. I live in NJ and decided against the thumb hole stock. I agree that according to the letter of the law they should be permitted, but I wasn't willing to risk a felony if a determined cop/DA wanted to push the issue. I instead went with a set of wood furniture from a Saiga .308 for a more classic look.
  3. Some folks have filled their stocks with sand or something else to give it a bit more weight and more solid feeling... might help with the recoil too.
  4. I have 4 of the Taiwan 5 rounders and all have worked just fine for me. No filing or fitting required.
  5. I would really love to replace my plastic with some nice wood furniture, but can't seem to locate the .308 furniture. saigastock.com has a set listed for the 7.62/.223... anyone know if this will work too? also is $135 the going rate or should I shop around a bit?
  6. looks great! how much work did it take to get the stock/forearm to fit? also I don't see the .308 model listed on saigastock.com, only the 7.62/.223. think this one would work too?
  7. Just for another data point... my 2-holer stopped with the FTE's after I put a handful 3" 00 buck through it followed by some low brass bird shot.
  8. anybody find a good mag pouch that snugly holds a few of these?
  9. I've had the same experience with my 5 rounders... no issues whatsoever.
  10. I just picked up a poly choke... seems like a high quality piece. I have yet to pattern it but did some skeet shooting this past weekend and it worked well. I did a bunch of research on chokes and everyone seemed happy with the poly choke, so that's what I went with.
  11. Last weekend I took mine out for the first time and had a handful of FTE's with Estate low brass skeet loads... maybe 5-10 out of 100. This weekend I went back out and ran through another 75 along with a few 3" 00 buck... it seems much better today with just 1 FTE on the Estate. I am going to polish up the guts as described in the sticky and hopefully it will continue to improve as I break it in.
  12. I live in the great state of NJ where pistol grips are no good on shotguns with detachable mags... does anyone know for sure whether or not this would be considered a pistol grip?
  13. Last night I disassembled my brand new S12 and I can see only 1 gas port. It's slanted towards the back of the gun, away from the plug. I haven't fired it yet but have a case of Federal in my trunk so I'll let everyone know how it goes.
  14. Okay, I will break it down tonight and give it a good cleaning... I watched the disassembly video on youtube and it seemed pretty straightforward. Just get some cleaning pads from my local sporting goods store and give a good cleaning to the inside of the barrel, the bolt, etc? Anything else I should watch for? Stupid questions I know, but this is literally my first gun and I want to get off to a good start. I will also try and verify the gas ports are not blocked. I'd like to polish the bolt and other parts as described in the sticky, but I first want to make sure there's nothing wron
