  1. Rob, I like the beard! When I saw the title I thought the Wonder Van was up for a redo. ;-) Nice work. I like the repurposed license plates and railroad spikes.
  2. There are raised areas behind them that support the thread bosses. The rail will come off but the side won't be smooth like I want.
  3. Pretty standard. I swapped the crappy factory backup sights for some crappy Magpul BUPS. Took a C-More sight I had laying around and through it on. These guns need a low sight. Someday, when funds allow, I'll throw a Aimpoint T1 on it. I also swapped the birdcage for a PWS Triad. About the only thing I don't really care for is the thumb mag release. I've worked it over and it's still very tough to actuate. The bolt release is cool but not as nice as the ACR. I also wish I could get rid of the little sections of rail on sides of the handguard. Overall it's a very cool design. Its c
  4. Spent most of my R&R dinking around with my new Beretta ARX 100. Very cool design!
  5. I didn't vote because I love the eight that I have. Patiently waiting for the V12 version to be released.
  6. Damn, that looks like fun! Any reason you don't run a brake on the Firebird A1? BTW, you probably don't remember but we met a few years ago at the Prickly Pear range. I had a cnc guns AR45 I was testing.
  7. Everything is relative. I pre-paid damn near twice that much for a 030 that never hit our shores. Then, I waited two years to get paid back. I can't see them getting much cheaper than $799. But, that's been said before as well.
  8. The canning hardware and ziplock freezer bags are waiting. Eventually I like to have a root cellar.
  9. Well, here it is. We've spent the past three weekends adding onto the garden. We saved every cardboard box for a year so we could kill the grass. It took about eight straw bales to cover the boxes. Then we threw some posts in and added the fencing. We dug out the old landscaping soil form around the house and added four 30 foot long beds. Finally, we ran drip lines on all the beds and hooked them to a two zone timer. I'm pretty stoked to have it done.
  10. I have a number of them in .308 and 5.56. They work very well. However, standing next to them is not very pleasant. I'm a big PWS fan. Pretty much everything they make is fucking bomber.
  11. Fourth Doc summed it up. You know what you want/need so make sure they know exactly what's expected and see how they react.
  12. The mountains of Montana are a bit too far away:-( Hoping to retire somewhere near there for half the year. Have fun!
  13. Did you loose any length?
  14. Damn that sucks! You might hit up evlblkwpns about a repair. He's about to open his new business and he's made mention of fixing cracked carriers with some supe secret new method.
  15. It's a good skill to have but won't save you from the emotional toll a fucked up situation may have on you. We live in the country. Two weeks ago my wife, who has some basic first aid/CPR training was calls to run down to my neighbors house. When she got there she found him in a diabetic seizure. She called his wife, who was at work. We did not know he was a diabetic. She attempted to give him glucose paste but was unsuccessful. She then found his insulin and needle and was able to save him. Even though she did everything right and saved his life she was pretty fucked up from it for about
  16. It's never fun. Yesterday sent one of my guys to ride along with the local ambulance. The hope was that he'd get some practice doing patient assessments to firm up his newly acquired EMT skills. The very first call he goes out on he has to cut some 15 year old kid down that tried to hang himself and proceed with CPR. Not cool. Getting paid peanuts so that I could pull some burnt up kid out of an airplane, scraping some guy off the pavement or go find some guy's missing head made me let my medical quals lapse. mancat, get some help if you need it.
