  1. Now that my Saiga 308 is in pistol grip config, the bolt hold open tab is in the way of the trigger. I've thought of a few ways to modify it, but before I get my Dermel out only to find a better way later, what's the standard way of fixing this problem? TIA, Allan Schisel
  2. You are not attacking anyone, they just think you are, right? I'm smoking someing? I might hurt someone? Like I said before, if you'd like to discuss this with me off line and not waste bandwidth here, my email is: allansarmory@yahoo.com Say what ever you want on this forum, I won't be replying to anything else you have to say (and I know you will have something else to say). I've got work to do before the communists take over. There is one under every rock trying to poison us with floride in our water supply. Gotta go jack the prices up on my website before the democrat/socialists/commies
  3. Rook, Why the personal attack? Would you care to refute anything I've said or is that all you can come up with? I don't know how old you are or if you've ever been in business, but it seems as though you have lots of lessons to learn in life. People skills, comes to mind, no need for personal attacks in a discussion. When my daughter was 5, she learned that "Life is not fair." You need to learn that too. Maybe you'd like to invest a few thousand dollars in mags, get them at dealer prices, and sell them at a fair price? I know everyone here would buy them from you at a "fair" price. Would t
  4. That would of never happened in the old Russian under communism. The mags would stay at $20, just like you think they should. Of course, you wouldn't be allowed to own any. We have the law of supply and demand at work here in the USA. The mags get scarce, the price goes up. You don't have to buy them. If the company paid a higher price for them and more get imported, the price drops and the company loses money. If they bought lots of stuff like that, they go out of business. Also, at $40 a mag, some other mag maker will start to produce them before long increasing the supply. All of that is ca

  6. "NOW HEAR THIS, YOU WILL RARELY IF EVER GET A GOOD DEAL ON A FIREARM OF ANY SORT AT A GUNSHOW" And the reason lots of people don't buy C&R firearms from my website is they want to see and examine in person what they are purchasing. They only buy at gunshows. I think you will find most of your good deals on the internet like Robgrandam said, but if you know your guns and get there early, there are lots of good deals at gunshows. Probably not on any new gun though, just C&Rs (curios and relics). Allan Schisel
  7. The dealer had about $300 in the Saiga and mount and sold them for $400. He made 33% profit. At $400, you paid less than retail. An 01FFL dealer cannot stay in business charging less than that unless they do a very high volume of sales. Shop around by phone. You may be able to find a dealer who'll sell you firearms for 10% above cost. Allan Schisel
  8. SOLD Sorry for people posting here, but I respond to emails 1st. That's why I left my URL. It explains about ordering instructions and photos on the website. Thanks, Allan Saiga 12g Shotgun. {12g 2 3/4" and 3"}. This is the high end model. Black synthetic stock, 19" barrel with threaded muzzle (has screw on muzzle protector). Adjustable top rib/rear site, scope mount side rail, bolt hold open (only later models have this), front and rear sling swivels, sling. Included with this shotgun are six (6) 5 round magazines. These mags sell at CDNN for $25 each, the shotgun $270, the whole set u
  9. I've had both types and the one with built in rings too. Save your money and by a KVAR. It costs twice as much, but if you want one that stays on target (and in my case, stays on the rail), don't waste your money on one of those $40 ones. One I got was too far off from zero for my scope and one would not stay on the rail. After 5 shots, it would just fall off. I finally got a KVAR and it works great. Allan Schisel
  10. Just got this email from Red Star Arms: At this time we are not working on the full stock rifle configuration. If enough interest is shown we will try to make a small run in the future. Ken Roberts President Red Star Arms Inc. www.redstararms.com Here is their email address to show your interest: redstararms@redstararms.com If you own a Saiga and want a decent trigger, write him. Allan Schisel
  11. Call European American Armory and get a list of their distributors. They may even be able to tell you who got the latest shipment and when more are being imported. Have your dealer call around until he finds a distributor with one in stock. Allan Schisel
  12. I have a Saiga 308 with 16" barrel. It's accurate, but I have trouble being as accurate as the gun can be because of the trigger. It's got to have one of the worst trigger feels ever. I don't mind pulling up instead of back, the problem is I never know when it's going to break (and it's heavy). I'd rather not move the trigger back, add a pistol grip, and change to a normal AK set up. I just want it to have a decent trigger pull. Is this possible or do you have to convert back to the AK trigger to improve feel? TIA Allan Schisel Here is my email to them: Hi Ken, Thank you for taki

  14. Short of converting to the old AK trigger by moving it and adding a pistol grip, can the trigger feel be improved? Allan Schisel
  15. It's still hard for me to believe an AK design 308 with a 16" barrel and crappy trigger is so accurate. Try some Portuguese NATO surplus, it's great. Once I get the mount problem fixed, this will be a tack driver. I sold my Browning BAR II liteweight once I saw the potential of these Saigas. Who would have thought this rifle could be so accurate (and inexpensive)?? Are the psop set ups the ones I see at CDNN? What stopped me from getting it was the low magnification scopes. I need hi mag due to old eyes. Maybe there are ones with hi mag? Where did you get yours and what are it's specs (an
  16. The new mount also shot too low to get scope on target. Maybe the rail on my rifle is the problem? I'll put a shim in the ring and that should solve the problem. I'll make some shims by cutting up coke cans and get these rifles sighted in. CDNN got in the low profile scope mounts with a picatinny rail. I put some low 1" rings on it and mounted a scope. It was no lower than the mount with integral rings once you add the height of the rings. I was using a Tasco 3.5 to 10 X 44 scope. I worked my way back to 100 yards and the gun was shooting VERY well. One 3 shot string of one ragged hole. That
  17. EAA sent me a brand new scope mount. I'll give it a try this weekend and see how it goes. Allan Schisel
  18. I sent the scope mount back on Dec. 30 and had heard nothing from EAA, so I just called. "We don't know why the gunsmith has not gotten back to you yet. The mount is being replaced and we'll send you a new one tomorrow (1/21/04). " Hopefully, this one will be in spec. I'll let you all know. If it works, I'll have to buy another one for my other Saiga in 308. Does anyone else sell a QD scope mount for the Saiga side rail that will put the scope lower? BTW, who is a good gunsmith that could do a trigger job on this gun? A pistol grip and muzzle brake would be nice, but I could live without them.
  19. I gave it a try. I used shims in the mount at the top screws after taking the pins out. That took care of the windage problem. I tried the bottom screws, but there are three points of attachment and the Russians made other the end screws with rounded holes, so no adjustment screw hole. The front one wasn't oval, so shims were the only way to go. As for elivation, I got it right and shots from 25 and 50 yards were fine. By the time I got to 100 yards, I was getting vertical strings. Buggered up the screw tring to get it to hold. Now I know why the Russians pinned it. It's a great set up if the
  20. A friend came over to help me site in my 16" Saiga. All these groups are from 100 yards. His best group was 1 1/8" with Portuguese 7.62 NATO surplus. My best group was 1 1/2" with Portuguese 7.62 NATO surplus. With Igman 150 gr soft point ($5.00/box), I shot a 2 1/2" group. Remington Match Grade Boattail, 168gr, best group 2 1/2". The scope mount needs some adjusting as we shot 15" low and 3" to the right with the scope adjustments maxed out. The scope mount is one of those that fits on the side rail and has the rings as part of the mount. There are two screws on the side that look like
  21. Do Saiga synthetic mags need lubrication or do you leave them dry? This question is for the rifle mags as well as the shotgun mags. Thanks, Allan Schisel
