  1. Registering a saiga 12 is a moot point at the moment as Izhmash is not even listed as a manufacturer in the NY SAFE registration page for shotguns or rifles. They do have izhevsk, russia listed I believe
  2. agree you would have to have quite a series of unfortunate events to get a spring loaded (non floating) firing pin to slam fire
  3. I ended up ordering 2 mini drums from CSS. I don't mind if I have to file them or if they are a bit rattly as long as they work.
  4. I'm in NY (you can see my "thumbhole" stock) and promag makes a 10 round drum for us. I think I'll order a few.
  5. Its been a while since I've been around but now I see that promag has come out with a 10 round compact drum. I do have 10 round AGP mags but I just don't like how long they are. I've been waiting for a 10 round drum and was hoping MD arms would come out with one but I doubt that will happen. So I have seen some positive reviews on the promag compact drums. Anyone have some experience or pics to get an idea of the size? Here is a pic of my Saiga, I had CGW do the conversion a year and a half ago while they were fixing my vodka special:
  6. And yet still no LRBHO even after 2 years. Doesn't really bother me though as any AK I have ever used has not had one. Not to mention the H&Ks that don't have one either. Simple is where AKs shine and I doubt I will bother with a LRBHO even if Cobra releases a solid design.
  7. I just picked up a few Carlson winchokes to go along with my AK Builder choke adapter. For $100 I got a rifled choke, ported turkey choke and and extra full choke tube for steel shot. I'm pretty interested to how sabot and foster slugs shoot now. I'm looking forward to spring turkey season too. I also picked up a Russian 2 round magazine (gets less dirty looks from the fudds plus makes it migratory legal) so bring on the spring hunting season.
  8. I believe it is a device that allows you to rock and lock a mag faster. It attaches in the front of the magwell where the magazine tab is inserted.
  9. Also these bulgarian stocks are pretty sweet. Does anyone have them in stock? I know Tom Cole bought the rest from Ticksbite when he replaced the one I sent him for my conversion.
  10. Shoots great no FTEs very accurate with rifled slugs. Got a doe this year with it, was dead on at 50 some odd yards with the krebbs sites. I just got the winchoke adapter and will get an extra full choke for turkey and a rifled choke to mess around with sabot slugs.
  11. I live in upstate NY so unfortunately anything over 10 rounds is a no no. I would love to have a drum though. Thinking about moving if I cannot get a permanent teaching gig so I can dream.
  12. So I have not been around lately as life has been busy. I have not kept up with the latest developments in the saiga 12 world and looking through the posts it looks like not much else has changed since last spring. So what is the latest and greatest? Any steel mags, LRBHO, or 10 round mini drum? I did buy one of the AK Builder winchoke adapters. I'm also going to get a rifled choke for deer season. This is my Cadiz converted and fixed (under warranty) vodka special:
  13. Great Stuff spray foam. Be careful though and clean up any that seeps out as it will make a mess and be green forever.
  14. Some of you may know already but my shotgun had been at the gunsmith since January for a conversion and other work. It was supposed to be finished by June. I get a call in June saying that it is almost done. I send a couple emails and am told it is getting shipped in a couple days. The I get an email that they lost the stock I sent (I am in NY state and require a thumbhole stock). Now I understand people are busy but the gunsmith has already started to take new conversion orders with a 90 day turnaround time. I already prepaid $475 (also included a krebbs sight) which I guess was a bad i
  15. Thumbholes stocks are OK in NYS. The federal AWB had a decision against dragonuv stocks but that language does not appear in the NYS law.
