Could one modify am M-203 front mount?

25 bucks seems like a lot for the tromix adapter; flat metal stamped in a U shape with a hole drilled for a screw. Is there a part I could modify to emulate the function of the adapter?

What's the cheapest route to getting a Galil style forend on the Saiga 12? I keep seeing Galil forends for the AK 47 at gun shows (I think Tapco makes them) but when I ask the seller if it will fit a Saiga-12, they say "I don't know, probably not". I don't mind a little dremelling, but is it even possible? What's a poormans method of getting a galil look forend on a Saiga 12? Are there any step by step guides? Thanks

Is there a writeup anywhere online on how to vent/slot the stock forend on an S12? I know you can get em for $35-$40 but I'd like to try it myself. I assume I need a mill or something?
