  1. Probably a very easy and quick way to fix this is to hi temp solder or weld a cylindrical OUTSERT. Then you would have the legal length but the factory choke threads would be good to go. Just make the outsert the proper (stepped) inside diameter to offer a smooth transition from the original muzzle. Hey go ahead and make it with some gnarly ports, maybe a bayo lug, etc.
  2. Yes it is common to have the scope offset somewhat. Zero and enjoy!
  3. well, I hung out at the gunshop so much they gave me a part time job...so I get some deals now and then. Good thing too as they got me pretty good a number of times in days past!
  4. Got a 16" Saiga, 4 10 rounders, and a assault style case (complete with a pair of used ear plugs) for $200.00 OTD Man if feels good to get a good deal. The rifle is nice and clean but it's been shot...the piston is covered in grey fouling. Not a scratch on the gun except for the selector arc though. Gonna clean her up and then LOAD HER UP! She complements my 16" .308 nicely!
  5. make sure there is a gas piston in the handguard tube. Otherwise you have a very nice 10 shot straight pull bolt action.
  6. David of David's Collectibles (www.tickbitesupply.com) is a good guy. He's not out to screw anyone. He comes in to the gunshop where I work part-time to drop off the MPA (Ingram type) pistols. Very easygoing fellow. BTW the quality on the MPA's is better than the originals by a wide margin, in my opinion. They have a 9mm and 45 carbine out on that platform, as well as a new "mini" 9mm MPA. I will ask him what the deal is on the Saiga modded mags next time I see him.
  7. If you want to do hogs at 600, get out and practice at that range with the ammo you want to hunt with. When you can hit a paper plate repeatedly at 600, go hunting. Until then, hunt out to whatever range you can keep all your shots on that plate. It's just going to take a LOT of practice. But it IS within the realm of the possible. And didn't you buy your Saiga to practice alot with? Don't give up on your dream, and don't waste that hog meat when you connect. Good Luck!
  8. Dang that Kobra looks great on the Saiga! What model and where do you get them?
  9. Man, I must really be out of the loop, I don't even know what a JLDPTR is? It sounds like an acronym for a nasty venereal disease!

    accuracy BAD

Have you tried it with the mag in but empty? I just can't see feeding from the mag making that big a difference in accuracy. I think it's dirty, bad ammo, bad muzzle crown, or bad shooting, or a combo. And that is not a flame, I'm going through the same thing with a .308 right now, and it's a SAVAGE BOLT GUN......
  11. I'd try the Beeman on it first. It might do all you want it to do.
  12. All you need is a sidemount scope rail, maybe the high one, and a nice red dot. BSA makes some nice ones cheap. I've had one of their 42mm on my 12 gauge slug gun for a few years now and have never had to resight it. But I really want one of those Russian ones.....
  13. Atsuh niceun! There's a blued/synthetic version at my local gunshop. Very tempting indeed. I'm sure that .204 will be a tackdriver.
  14. Don't forget bullet shape when comparing the 30-30 and 7.62x39. The Russian is a pointed spitzer shape and the 30-30 is a flatpoint in factory trim. And of course the Russian is loaded to much higher pressure than the 30-30. It doesn't need the same case capacity to move like the 30-30. Out where the game is the little 7.62x39 is dead on the heels of the 150 grain 30-30 due to its more efficient bullet shape. All you need to do to investigate this for yourself is go to www.remington.com and peruse their excellent ballistics page. I've just shot one deer with the 7.62 but it sure put a
  15. I just paid $300 out the door at the gunshow. Today picked up a 1000 round crate of Portuguese 7.62.
